Antique Cast Iron& Wood 14 Fishing Pole Hardware Store Display Stand Rack Up for sale is this Antique Cast Iron& Wood 14 Fishing Pole Hardware Store Display Stand or rack. This was purchased at the estate sale of a 103 year old woman whose family had owned a hardware store since the late 1800s. This was used in their store. The black metal parts have a heavy black japanned finish. I don't know what type of wood was used to make this but the curved wood part on top has a bird's eye grain. The wood part on top has a groove for the rubber ring with 14 pairs of loops for the fishing pole tops. There are 14 corresponding round recessed spots in the bottom piece of wood for the base of the fishing rods. Unusual must have display rack for the antique fishing rod and reel collector! Condition: It is all original and is in very good ... morecondition with all original parts intact. No cracks or chips in the metal and most of the original japanning is intact.some rubs and oxidation from use but they are pretty minor. Measurements: 33" tall overall. The bottom measures 11" in diameter and the top measures about 6 3/4" in diameter. The rack is easily unscrewed from the heavy cast iron base so I might ship the base separately if it will reduce shipping costs. Markings: None I have many other great items up for auction. Discoloration, surface rust found, wear to the back plate, the bottom loop is slightly loose on the body, the makers mark is badly faded and is very difficult to make out; the hook piece is in functional condition. We are unsure if these items are original to each other but they appear to be of the same age and have the same wear pattern. Description Nice set of 3 ornate antique Victorian era cast iron hall tree double hooks. They extend 4" from mounting surface and measure 4 5/8" tall x 6 1/2" wide. They are in very good condition for age. Maintaining most of the original gold paint, but the threaded screw stems are slightly bent(photo shows the worst one) but still fully functional. Nice large matching flexible lot of old wall cleat rope hook hardware for your consideration. These might have been used at some point in their lives as a clothes line hanger for drying. These have endless possibilities for work shop for drying. Hanging, spraying etc. It looks like up to a 1/4 inch rope will fit the cleat. Each cleat measures 1 5/8 x 1 3/8 inches and 1 inch ctr to ctr for set screw holes. These look like a galvanized finish with little residual rust. Mostly old paint that would clean if you wish. Most cast iron hardware of this era was coated in a tough black oil paint. These retain most of that black paint.As well as very old white(creme,now) oil based paint. These were maore than likely in a closet that got painted that white only once in it's lifetime,as wear is very light on these. It is 14" long in the closed position and 19" when fully extended. There are 12 vintage brass square hanging loops and the 14 of the hard to find vintage curtain pins which fit through the square loops and onto the curtains. Two of the square hanging loops are slightly smaller than the other 10 and I doubt you would see any difference when they are hanging. The 10 squares measure 1 1/4" top to bottom and the 2 squares measure 1" top to bottom. There is no wall mounting hardware with this item. Also included is an orphan curtain hook which is somewhat ... morelarger. This swing arm is in very good condition considering it's age. The cold paint red and green detail is very clear with some of the gold rubbed off slightly in places. The rod itself shows the usual loss of paint due to decades of brass rings rubbing against it.
