We are pleased to bring you this great Martin Borenstein sofa designed in the 1950's for Croyden Furniture in"The ... moreChallenge Series" Martin Borenstein was an architect at the time who also designed a series of furniture pieces under his company MB Designs. These sofas are his most well known pieces and came in different variations through custom orders. It is finished on all sides and would work well in any open space where both front and back may be viewed. The legs are all brass and have original patina. These have only been wiped off and NOT POLISHED! The frames are solid walnut and the tables and coffee table are made of walnut veneers in a beautiful honey color now that is only achieved with age. The wood on the coffee table and triple lamp side table are in excellent vintage condition. The long side table and additional tier table( which can be moved any where you like) both show some surface wear and age. The counter sunk light is missing the glass disk but we can have one frosted cut when sold. This table shows some water damage as it looks like someone had the bright idea to use this as a planter. Both lights function, the three fiberglass shades do have a slight scent as someone must have used a scented candle at some point; unless you pick them up and hold them to your nose even lit they do not smell. The suite as a whole is in very good vintage condition with normal signs of age and wear to be expected with a set that is over 60 years old. This set has not been refinished as most you see for sale that are above the $15-40,000 dollar mark, most of these are not a complete set as this is. The sofa's original upholstery was completely redone as well as the foam replaced by the prior owner and he passed after only using the set for less than 9 months. Martin Borenstein's ingenious design allows for the sofa section and side tables. To be removed along with the brass legs and the fiberglass lighting tubes so that the frame can then be folded at center on hing
