2 Edwardian 1920's Fainting Couch Coverlets Scalloped Edge Fabric Yardage 68X110
This Auction is for 2 Fabric Coverlets. Recently purchased at auction. I'm assuming this pair went together. The patterned fabric(red/ white& pink Asian Acanthus theme) is fitted to the shape of a fainting couch.the soft and shiney pink polished cotton is not fitted but has an unusual shape at one end. Both are lined with a natural colored cotton muslin. Each piece also includes matching ruffled trim/edging that has been hand sewn in place. Measurements of both are approx. 68 inches wide X 110 inches long. Neither piece has been laundered. No noted stubborn stains. One straight line rip at one end of the fitted patterned fabric piece(approx. 5 inches long) These items will need to be laundered as they most likely haven't been cleaned in many years. Beautiful, Hand Carved Rosewood Settee
This is a beautifully hand carved Victorian Settee. It is made in solid rosewood. The dimensions are 58" wide X 45" high X 32" deep. There is a missing front foot. It broke and we lost the pieces. The carvings on this settee are not applied. They are carved into the supporting wood structure. The rose carvings are of exceptional quality and 1.5" thick in places. This is an antique Setee. The Setee is beautifully carved. The craftsmanship is extraordinary. The apolsetry needs restoration, it is torn and the faded. The bottom support is torn and the original bedding is falling out. There are a few minor scratches in the fron t frame of it. There is no markings as far as a maker is concerned. Its believed to be from the the late 1800s-early 1900's. The top of the back rest is hand carved roses. The arm supports are carved in a spindle fashion. We bought this set of Victorian furniture( couch and slipper chair) about 15 years years ago at an antique shop and it has been in our little used parlor ever since. It is NOT a reproduction and has original upholstery. We do not see the makers marks. However, they are both well made and very sturdy. They have pearl inlays in both pieces so we know they are a set. They are both upholstered in velvet. The sofa shows a little age on the arms in that regard. However the chair is all but perfect. The sofa may need some work on the spring support underneath. But is fine to use as is. Seller must remove. Or possible local delivery for the right sales price. Lovely antique walnut Rococo Revival settee in a graceful serpentine style. It has beautiful floral and leaf carvings in the center back crest. Along with finger rolls. A floral carving also appears in the center of the seat rail, finished with carvings flowing down along the rail sides of the cabriole legs, ending in claw feet. The arm rests end in a matching claw pattern. The settee is wonderfully upholstered in a cranberry colored Amboise striped velvet. Camera lighting makes the color appear somewhat pinkish; however, the fabric is a true cranberry red. American Classical Empire Grecian Couch Recamier c.1820
Here's an extremely rare and beautiful American Classical Empire Period Grecian Couch. Or recamier. This piece was most likely made in New York City around 1815- 1820. It has four big and boldly carved hairy paw feet(finished in the round) on casters, the front feet with with cornucopia and fruits and leaves, fine crotch mahogany throughout, gold gilt stenciling along the front bottom and along the back, the arms are also heavily and deeply carved with cornucopia and what looks like dogwood flowers(typical for NY furniture) and the back has rope twist carving with gilt anthemions and a big gilt accented roundel. Wow! This piece has it all! It's also much smaller than most recamiers, which makes it even more desirable and rare: it's only about 73" long, perfect for most living rooms, bedrooms and even apartments. Reupholstered ... morein bright empire green fabric with gold medallions, matched gold gimp, and has two wonderful pillows(one round with a gilt metal center and gold greek key border tape, and one square with four big lovely tassels. This is a crown piece of American Classical furniture and was restored with much(way too much) care and effort. If you collect and love classical, empire, regency, federal furniture and interiors, this is a rare rare chance to add a once in a lifetime piece to your collection. One of the front feet is a replacement but was done by a master carver who used the other original foot as a model, so it's a perfect match and fit and you wouldn't know unless someone told you. The original veneering shows no sign of glue failure at all. It is amazin gly intact with very little damage. The finish appears to be original. In excellent condition, and finally, it appears ... moreto have been upholstered only twice- the second time ti me with s taples. Usually on a piece like this. The wood is literally riddled by several reupholsterings with tacks and nails and often requires serious repairs to the wood before it can be upholstered again. It was entirely hand made with the highest levels of craf tsmanship- no cut corners. Hand sawn. Hand planed. In other words, pieces like this are usually worn out and are done over so many times that they're no longer usable. Not this piece. It's one of the best p reser ved p ieces I've ever had in my shop- Golden Eagle Cabinet Shop. Negatives- at 170 years of age. One will want to av oid hard use. The re upholstery could use an application of gimp along the crest rail borders- a normal finishing touch not done yet. The original coil springs have diff erent spring so unds for di fferent places one might sit. And as befit s a dowager of mature age. There is a bit of lumpiness. Antique Vintage Victorian Wood Bugundy Cushion Couch Sofa Hand Crafted 1800's This is an antique fabulous Victorian sofa. It is 82" long and 39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around ... morethe front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. wonderful 1850 pierced carved rosewood bed by alexander roux pomegranates e
for sale is a fantastic antique rosewood pierced carved rosewood victorian bed by alexander roux made circa 1850-1860. i have had this bed in storage for a long long time. it was in a barn in a room with other antiques. at any rate. I had stacked hay in front of this room that had been there for years. this years drought allowed me to feed the hay out of the way so i was able to recover this bed and several other pieces that i have had stored there for years. i did a bit of work on this bed a long time ago, but don't remember what all i did. i may have stripped it but have forgotten. anyway, i dug it out the first of july and have had it on my porch ever since. i cleaned it as it was filthy, there were a few pieces of trim and carving missing, that i replaced, but none of which were significant pieces. the top crest is totally complete ... moreand has pomegranates which was a signature of alexander roux. there are some veneer bubbles in the back of the bed which i reglued and a few on the head board but are of no consequence as there are covered by the mattress. this is a full size bed, it is 61 inches wide, the foot board is about 41 inches tall, the head board is 68 inches tall, the rails are about 20 inches tall and as you can see from the pictures are very ornate in their shape as well as the carvings place in just the right places. the rosewood grain is wonderful, i don't know how well it will show up in the pictures but it is wonderful. the pierced carved crest on the head board is breath taking, it has nuts, grapes, roses, pomegranates,and other important particulars too numerous to mention. the foot board has great carvings and curves on the sides. at one time it had large porcelain casters on the inside of the foot and head board which are long gone. i put casters in the bottom of the legs and it rolls like a wagon. the rails fasten the head and foot board together by large and long dowels that push into both the head board and foot board. there are metal brackets on the foot board and head board which h

Up for auction is this beautiful Victorian Rococo loveseat with a magnificent. Highly carved walnut frame. It measures approximately 40 inches high and 66 inches at its longest point. The seat height is 16 inches. The seat measures 21 inches deep. If you measure from where the back of the frame where it touches the wall, to the front of the seat, it measures approximately 30.5 inches deep. It has its original 4 casters. The springs are in good condition. And there are no tears in the fabric. It does have a spot with some light staining, which we never noticed until we were checking it closely for the description. There's one repair on the end of the apron, which can be seen in two of our pictures. It is a 2 inch by 2 inch by 1.5 inch triangle. This is not part of the leg, only a part of the apron. No reserve. antique karpen laminated mahogany parlor set 2 chair
up for auction a three piece antique karpen parlor set. the set has very nice laminated mahogany backs. The settee and arm chair have nicely carved claw feet and the back of all three pieces have sea shell carved crests. there is also nice carving where the arms attach to the backs and carving down both sides of the backs of each piece. it has had new fabric put on the seats in the last 4 or 5 years, i forget for sure when i had that done. i have cleaned the wood and polished it. the sofa is a bit over 50 inches wide, a bit over 38.5 tall at the crest, and the depth of the seats on all three pieces is right at 20 inches. the rocker is 36 tall and 23 wide, the arm chairs 38.5 tall and 23 wide. i believe the casters are original to the sofa and arm chair, of course the rocker has none. it had a karpen paper tag that came off when recovering ... morea few years back. i forget what piece it was on but it fell off when removing the old fabric. i still have the tag somewhere. i will look for it and can send a picture of the tag should anyone care to look at it. it is in overall excellent shape to be 100 years old. there are a few minor dings in the wood, but none large enough to picture, the back of the arm chair has a couple of small depression in the wood, i don't think they showed in the pictures however. they don't amount to anything. actually there are no dings or dents in the wood that can be easily seen and are just consistent with age and use. the function of the set is not compromised in any way. it is very sturdy and solid. it is a great set. it can be picked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. i can help arrange shipment if that would be helpful for anyone. good luck.

There are hinges under the pattered upholstery on the seat rail and black iron legs that fold down on the backside of the seat. When open, there are 2-wire“headrests” that fold out to hold pillows. The box springs measure 65 ½ inches long and 44 ½ inches wide. This does not come with a mattress. I do not know the exact date it was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. This is a nice Rococo Sattee. This sofa has a very solid Walnut frame with beautiful carvings which perfectly represent the Rococo era. Victorian "Hunzinger" style sofa. Beautiful!
This is beautiful walnut sofa from about 1880. It is a full sofa(6' long) and seats 3 very well. It is the style of Hunzinger but is not marked. The finish is original however there have been some reinforcement done to the frame and arms. There are a few minor details missing but could be replaced or left as is. However. The work cannot be seen. A cross brace underneath has come undone but can be reattached with no effort. The original upholstry and padding(which was rotten and mouse eaten) was replaced with the current in the 1970's. It is serviceable but could stand a professional cleaning. The sofa itself was part of a set from an old estate in San Jose CA. and was sold to the current owner by the late Addie Walgren of Old Homestead Antiques in Morgan Hill, CA. about 1977.
