R. WALLACE & SONS STERLING SILVER PLATE WITH CUT CRYSTAL BUTTER DISH
This is a lovely butter dish that belonged to my mother in law. When she gave it to me. She told me it was her mother's. She explained that when she was a child, she cut butter up and placed it on crushed ice in the crystal dish, which came with the sterling silver plate. My husband is 67, his mother would be 92, so it dates them around 1900. There are wear and tear scratches to the sterling silver plate and the bottom of the cut crystal dish. The cut crystal is really beautiful-deep cuts and the flower is frosted glass, from what I see. The stamp on the back of the silver has a deer head with antlers and on one side is"R Wallace-then deer head- S Below that is stamped the number 2899. The sterling silver plate measures 6" in diameter and the cut glass dish measures 4" in diameter.
