Marked'Silver on Copper' flanked by logos with an'M' and birds/ eagles/ phoenix(difficult to photograph– I have not determined maker name) A very nice patterned border with grapes and grape leaves with considerable depth and dimension. the field has a beautiful etched design with flowers and cartouches covering almost the entire field. on raised feet on the bottom. Middletown Silver Company originated in 1864 and then purchased by International Silver Co. in 1899 dating this piece from the late 19th century. Stamped with Middletown Trademark including numbers 3673. Plate measures 10 1/8" wide with a 4" wide recessed center and circular foot raising the plate 1 1/2" Would be beautiful under a glass or silver vase or bowl. 4 Antique Victorian Hand Chased Silverplate Grape Plates, Barbour, EGW&S 1890's
This is an exquisite set of 4 hand chased silver plates with an elaborate grape pattern. The plates were made by E G Webster and Son around 1890’s. The plates are in the Barbour pattern which was later continued by International Silver when they purchased Webster& Son. Each plate is 11” across with the recessed center area being 7 ½” The ornate edge is 2” and covered with grapes and etched grape leaves. These are OLD not new. They have NO silver loss, but they have been used as plates and they have scratch marks in the centers and they have shelf marks on the bottoms. They need a light cleaning and polishing. They reflect like mirrors and were very hard to get pictures of. I finally put plates on them to get some shots of the edges but the centers just could not do a close up of. The quadruple plate tray measures approx. 6 1/4" in diameter and stands about 1 1/2" high. There is a space in the center for engraving but it is not engraved. This is in fair to good condition with nice patina. There is discoloration and surface scratches which are consistent with age. It is being shown as found and I have not cleaned it in any way. Antique Victorian Silver Plate Stamped Floral STILTON CHEESE SCOOP. Faux Bone ANTIQUE SILVERPLATE STILTON CHEESE SCOOP Lovely antique Victorian silverplate Stilton cheese scoop measuring about 10-3/4" long. Featuring a long stem with shovel end decorated in a pressed and incised stylized Aesthetic floral and geometric pattern- fitting that spans the handle and stem appears to be sterling and handle. I'm guessing, is bone with a wonderful creamy color from age. Condition is fair with age related usage marks- much of the plating has worn from the scoop back. Exposing what appears to be brass underneath- there is a bit of a crimp in the end which can be felt but does not show- the connector fitting is loose and the handle has an old, stable, tight crack which is dark from age- does not impact function. I think this is such a striking ... moreold cheese scoop- so Victorian in nature when there was a dedicated utensil or serving piece for every possible table need. Lovely addition to any collection! The design on this is amazing with all the deep grooves and flowers with so much detail. It measures 10 inches wide and 6 1/4 inches across and 7/8 inches tall. It weighs 309 grams.
