The maps had metal ... morepins at each end. One end goes into holes drilled in the end of this frame. The other end goes in slots in a metal holder that is in the other end. The inside dimensions of this unit is approx 42" by 14 1/2." Thus the length of the maps including the pins that stick out each end is slighly longer than 42" so it would hold in the drilled holes. It is dusty, but looks solid. It has a chip at a corner (see photo). Otherwise looks good. I will disassemble it for shipping. USA lower 48 buyer to pay $30 s/h.

Vintage Denoyer Geppert Co Pull Down School Map This canvas map is the Greek and Phoenician Colonies and Commerce. It is approx. 29 1/2" tall and 43 1/4" wide(map only) It was compiled and drawn by R. Baxter Blair and the copyright dates on it are 1916. 1929. It opens and closes nicely and has normal classroom wear. The bottom wooden pull shaft needs to be reattached.

Vintage 1915 School Pulldown Wall Map-Minnesota-Cram's Superior Map-38 by 48
Here for sale is a vintage map published by Cram's in 1915. I obtained this map and 6 other maps from a collection of maps used in a one room school in Welch. Minnesota. The maps had a slight odor of age which has improved substantially since I took them out of their holder. The map measures about 38 by 48 inches. And has rollers on each end. The map has condition issues as shown in the photo. Including tearing and scraping, mostly along the bottom, and along the extreme edges. Map has some staining or darkening, again mostly along the bottom, and could use a cleaning. Please see the photos to observe condition. The colors on most of the map are nice, and so some restoration would be helpful. I will be happy to combine shipping upon multiple purchases.

This Denoyer Geppert school roll down map was published in 1956. It has 5 maps. The maps are printed on a sturdy canvas feeling paper. It is in very fine condition. There are no tears. And it is in proper working order. The maps are attached to a beautiful well made wooden frame. The only imperfection can be seen in the second picture. The ends of the map are discolored from age. I'm not sure of the exact age of this map(Mosy likely early 1980's) But it depicts Europe as it was post World War II in 1953. The spring operated roll system makes this easy to deploy and retract and it is in perfect working condition. This map was purchased as surplus from a local university. The large white marks are just reflections from my poor lighting. These maps measure 50" across and is about 40" tall. It also includes the built in mounting bracket/rail so it's ready to install. But my best guess is that the map is from the very early 60's as the interstates are partially constructed.~~The map measures 50(wide) X 37(tall) inches and has metal"framing" on the top and bottom with two hangers on the top that fold out or stay under per your preference. The map does have some wear and aging but nothing major. I have photographed the discoloration around the edges. This map has light lamination as well. This map is the Mark On- Rub Off type. The material is canvas-like. Nice bright colors. At the bottom of the map in the dark red area, there are some places where the coating has chipped off. One of the chips has become deep enough to go through the canvas to make a small hole. The map is approx. 52" long x 51" wide. There is some yellowing on the back canvas, but it does not come through to the front. The map roll up mechanism works great. The rod is wood and the hanger part is metal. They may fall straight once the map hangs for a while or you could tack a couple foam board strips on the back of the map and straighten the edges. It has details about their native countries and their travel routes of discovery. The bottom half of the map covers all the European explorers and the top half is about only the spanish expeditions. The map is large at 43 1/2 inches wide by 75 inches long. It is the vintage canvas type map and rolls up like a window blind. The map has not been abused and is not torn. Description I believe this globe is from the early WWII era. Possibly around 1939. This is my best guess as not everything on the map is consistent with a specific era. Reasons I believe this is from circ 1939 are listed below: Irish Free State(become Ireland in 1937) Italian East Africa(established in 1936) Manchukuo(renamed by Japan when they seized control of Manchuria from1931-1945) Taiwan as a territory of Japan(occupation by Japan ended with their surrender to the USN in 1945) There is no Israel or Lebanon(established 1948 and 1943 respectively) Poland(not yet shown as part of Germany when it was invaded in 1939 until Allied victory in 1945) The school globe is covered with 12 individual paper gores and has a diameter of 8" and a total height of 11" The meridian is made of metal. The globe has definitely seen better days but ... morestill a good-looking globe. Some separation of the paper gores and cracks throughout. As well as the expected scuffing and paper wear consistent with its age and former use as a school teaching aid. This is a Vintage School Pull-Down Map of Mexico. Central America, and West Indies. The map is in excellent condition. There is NO damage to the map. But the map has detached from the roller. It appears that the top portion of the map was stapled to the roller(see photo 12) It should be an easy fix if you have a staple gun. The roller seems to work, but I am not positive because the map is not attached. The map has a wood handle at the bottom with a metal hoop. The roller is made by HARTSHORN. The roller reads- Hartshorn Self-Acting Roller" The bottom of the map reads as follows- Denoyer-Geppert Co. Chicago" The lower right-hand corner of the map reads- Constructed& Printed by W& AK. Johnston Limited Edinburgh& London" photo 4) This company started making maps in the 1800s. Old colorful vintage 1941 school map. Large size of the world physical-political, edited by V.C. Finch, Professor of Geography, University of Wisconsin, Equatorial Scale, 1:25,344,000 of 400 miles to the inch. Van der Grinten Projection. Published by A.J. Nystrom& Co. Chicago. This map was cut and mounted on oil cloth so it could fold and was portable and it has metal brass grommets on the top so it could be hung as was typical of the time for classrooms. Neat old one. Has some brown paint splotch on the back. But at least it doesn’t show on the front. Neat big one for your wall. Colorful. Definitely used condition. Not pristine, but has a lot of character. Has dark spots on back. Possibly mildew, not sure, but will leave this to next owner. Still usable display condition. Was used in Texas classroom.
