Vintage Industrial Pull Down Wall Steel Map Rack Display Holder School Storage
This rack came to us with some maps that we recently bought at a school auction. The"C" cross section steel frames of most pull-down maps will slide over the tabs on this rack so multiple maps can be secured to the wall and moved if necessary. The rack measures 42" W x 26" T x 1.5" D and there are 10 tabs for maps. The tabs measure about 1 1/4" wide and 1/4" tall. The map has a few splotches of paint from overzealous room painters and it may be missing some parts- there is no clear built-in way for mounting the map to the wall. There are two tabs at either end attached with wing nuts which seem to be part of an incomplete attachment system. The rack could be mounted to the wall easily enough with some sort of creative fix. There are rubber bumpers on the back along the bottom to protect the wall from scratching. ... moreBulbs are not included unless specified. This map is all german the title is MITTEL-u. OSTEUROPA NACH DEM 30 jahr. Kriege. i have no clue what all of that means but the map is really spectacular. just pulled this one out and really like the look. i dont say that to often but theres something about the way it is divided a.D all the detailed areas. if you are the type that has two candles on pr two lamps or two of anything that must line up as in one on a side table a,d the other on a side table 6" from the edge, perfect balance you will hate this map. I also paint portraits and sculpt and like most artist two of anything is odd. This map is divided but not in half. That and the colors perhaps is why I like it. It has a few issues all of which can be repaired if desired the only big issue is the lower dowel its missing its other half. That's the exception to two matching ... moreitems. I probably have one on another map and if buy it now is payment choice I,will repair. I don't do repairs normally but for this map buy it now and I will. There are a few pieces of tape on the front and some scuffing on the back. I had to use clothes pins to keep the inner page from curling. This great vintage map by A. J. Nystrom has beautiful colors- you can see the layered spot colors in the print. It's a U.S.A. map. 1950 edition, No. WF1, edited by V. C. Finch, Professor of Geography, University of Wisconsin. Notice the absence of both Alaska and Hawaii, which became states in 1959. The map itself is 59 1/2" tall by 63 1/2" wide. The wood bar at the bottom is 67 5/8" and the top is about 68" across. It was made in 1988, just before the Berlin Wall came down, and you can see that East and West Germany are still divided on the map of Europe. The pull bar is 65" and some tape repairs have been made along the back of it. The map itself is 61 1/4" L x 46 1/2" T. The map is made to mount on a map rack but it can be hung on a wall using two 3/4" holes spaced 36" apart in the metal support. Someone had made tape repairs to the back of the map with a strong tape of some sort- it's silver tape, but looks different than duct tape. The repairs seems secure. Lots of color detailed showing the Legends for Land sea and population(see Pictures) The map is in good to very good condition and will transform any room you hang it. Please keep in mind its almost a half century old and is not new. One customer asked me if a map had been in a smoke free home! Its a School Map how the heck do I know. All I could say is its been in dry storage for 30 years. Some of the maps have been repaired over the years and may have tape. How to Repair Old School maps The round dowel is cut in half by the manufacturer and the new map is simply glued or stapled to one halve and then screwed to the other. Its basically sandwiched between the two halves. They made them this way so the schools could do there on repairs. Most schools could not afford to buy another one or send it to the manufacturer for a tear to be fixed when it would tear they unscrewed it. Cut the section that had the tear and put it back together. Please keep this in mind the older maps that have been rolled up and stored. They need to hang for several days lay flat. Should your map not straighten out simply remove the screws reset the map.Trim it if necessary and screw it back At some point you may tear it and need to repair it. Now you know how.

VINTAGE EUROPEAN BECKLEY-CARDY CANVAS MAP - SCHOOL PULL DOWN MAP
Vintage map of Europe. This is an old canvas pull down map. It came from an old school building that was demolished around the mid 1980s. The map was old when it was recovered from the school building. I am unsure of the print date of the map. At the bottom of the map it says"Copyright. The George F. Cram Co. Inc. Indianapolis 7, Indiana-printed in the USA. This map has some minor blemishes and imperfections, as to be expected with it's age, but it is in good condition over all. It still has the roller with the spring still intact. It will still roll up and down if you mount it with the correct hardware. The map measures approximately 51 inches wide and 54 inches tall. Please feel free to ask any questions. I also have other maps just like this of different parts of the world. They came from the same school house that this one came ... morefrom.
