Vintage school pull down wall map made by A.J. Nystorm& Company. Edited by V.C. Finch prosper of geography of University of Wisconsin. I believe it is pre World War 2. List countries like French West Africa, Indochina, Anglo-Egyptian-Sudan and many others that are not around any more. Is 62 1/2 inches wide and 4 feet tall. Made from canvas and wood. The edges are a little tattered and dose have a rip in the middle that was taped with a clear masking tape. Who ever did it did to a good job but you can see the gloss of the tape. Beside the rip is in pretty good shape for its age, colors are nice and bright and opens and closes very smoothly. If you have any questions just ask.

Vintage Oak Iowa Country School Map Case With 4 Original Maps
This beautiful old wall mounted map case was salvaged from a deserted country school being torn down in Madison County Iowa in the 60's by the local contractor. We brought it with us when we moved to Cincinnati. Unfortunately. It was rained on quite a bit in the old schoolhouse and suffered surface damage to the finish. Since we have many primitive pieces in our home, it fit right in. Others may decide to have it refinished as some of the varnish has flaked off clear down to the wood as you can see in the pictures. All maps are on working rollers. But I have released their tension for packing. The maps should be cleaned, the pull rods checked for tightness, and the tension rollers oiled and readjusted. ANTIQUE VINTAGE PULL DOWN SCHOOL MAP 1930's Europe Canvas HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE
A real old Crams map from either the 20"s or 1930's. that's my estimated date from selling several similar Crams. The maps top dowel has two parts that screw together.like most but 1/2 is missing. As you can see in photos I simply used a small nail in the center of the dowel half to hang the map. It is aged well for collectors. Muted colors frayed canvas edges small torn areas mon the edges. All can be fixed with tape on the back. It has been repaired many times over the years. You can see the photo showing scale of miles is almost covered by lower dowel from trimming. Also not the scale of miles was hand written prior to printing on the canvas. Also a good indicator of the age. 55" wide and 33" long

Top dowel needs some screws to hold the 2 half's together. One of the half's is slightly warped I learned from one off my customers how to turn a $100 map like this one into a $1500 map. I have sold maps in worse condition and the finished product was dramatic. this is how one professional interior decorator completely transformed a room and made a bundle First they removed the wood dowels followed by trimming the brown area at the bottom off and 6" off the top so only the title remains. Almost all will have little areas that are torn on the edges which is easy to repair with ordinary scotch tape on the back.I consider this normal vintage but will let you decide by the pictures. This beautiful 1947 World Map includes two circle maps of the North and South Polar Regions in the lower corners and was published by the Denoyer- Geppert Co. of Chicago. IL. The map measures 44 inches long X 62 inches wide and the equatorial Scale is 400 miles to the inch. The condition is good, the color is very strong and the lettering is clear and sharp. The spring roller works smoothly. The only flaw bottom edge is rough is rough with some missing lettering(photo 6) There is also a 6-inch tear that has been repaired with tape, which could be professionally repaired.
