Garland, Rowlett, Rockwall borders at the Lake. Has been folded into ¼ths. with some wear. Also some wear around the edges. Very few pen marks, such as a prior owners name on the front. And a few years after this map was printed someone thought it was cute to draw reunion tower on downtown Dallas(since it didn't exist in 1969)Measurements are like a standard fold out map, I'll get a tape measure out and measure it sometime. The reverse side is advertising businesses that don't exist anymore. I have fished this lake a few times. I never took this map with me. Its been in a drawer ... morefor several years. But I'd eyeball where some original ponds were before the man made lake was filled so I'd know where the really deep water was, where there were old roads, and old creek channels, and where the depth changes were sudden. It's also interesting to see the lake in drought conditions nowadays and compare to this map showing the lake filled to capacity. I still live in this area. And I get a kick out of this map showing green prairie land separating Garland, Richardson, and Plano. Its all concrete and buildings now. A bit of history: Originally designed to provide water to the North Texas region. The project was started in 1964. The lake was impounded in 1968, and a 2-mile earthfill dam was completed in 1969. Lake Ray Hubbard, formerly Forney Lake, is a reservoir located in Dallas, Texas in the counties of Dallas, Kaufman, Collin, and Rockwall County, Texas, just north of Forney, Texas, built on the East Fork Trinity River and impounded by the Rockwall-Forney Dam. Available in two sizes Most of the early 1900's maps of Texas showed mostly railroads with only an occasional intercity road as an afterthought. In time. As the demand grew, the old"railroad" maps were overlaid with crude roads but they were mostly unidentified. Over a period of time as auto travel increased. The main intercity roads came to have commonly accepted"Trail" names that were sometimes adopted by the states. These trail names were often later adopted for interstate roads as well like the"Ozark Trail" etc. But early on, there was never any really reliable road naming in effect. Mapmakers became pioneers and started adding Trail or road names but they would differ from map to map. ... moreOne of the most common were the Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway and the Meridian Highway which went from state to state. Long Before The Bankhead Highway From an original in the Electric Books Collection. This great Texas road map by Gallup is one of the earliest with named Trails or roads. The map dates between the 1910 Census and about 1915 because there are features missing that would be on Texas maps past that time. It was printed long before the fabled"Bankhead Highway" of the mid-1920's. The original was a folding pocket map and in addition to being a great early road map it qualifies as one of the best general Texas maps of its period because it includes often overlooked topographical detail as well as all the railroads and interurban trolley lines of the period and fine detail as to streams. This is a lot of 1 soil map of Austin. Texas This lot features 1 standard soil map of the regions. The maps are dated 1904 and 1905. But this may be the original year the maps were projected and designed rather than the actual year of production. Each map came folded in a rectangular shape about 9 x 5 inches. Which is how you will receive them. You can use that to multiply the rectangular segments on each pictured map if you require full dimensions. These maps cam from a University set that I bought as a local auction lot. General disclaimer: I am listing around 180 soil maps from all around the US. There is wear. These are original maps that I removed from the atlas myself. They are all guaranteed to be 102 years old. Cartographer A.K. Johnston Size/ Format Map: 26 cm x 19.5 cm(10.25" x 7.75" Page: 30 c. X 25 cm(12" X 9.75" Condition Very good. The maps are bright and crisp. There is only very slight age-toning to the extreme margins. The maps are clean and free of foxing. Tears, or other compromises. Remarks This 1906 atlas. Finally published a few years after her death, was dedicated to Queen Victoria. Most of the maps had been previously published by W. A.K.
