Offered is this 1889 Schedler Terrestrial Globe with dated cartouche. The globe is 6" in diameter with a with a total height of about 11 inches. Mounted into a metal full meridian. Finished in black and gold. The meridian is attached to a baluster turned and ebonized wooden connector, which in turn is attached to an ornate art nouveau cast iron base with wonderful details. Overall well preserved. There is some rubbing and soiling to the map. The beautiful patina has aged slightly uneven. The base is free of corrosion. Please see photos for details. A rare antique Andrews terrestrial globe c1876 A stunning post Civil War era 8 inch table globe by Andrews. A highly detailed globe with ocean currents and isothermal lines depicted. The gores of this globe were produced the old fashion way using labor intensive steel plate engraving. A good representation of the gore styles of the era. Concentric gradient lines surround every landmass giving the illusion of depth. The United States still displays a single Dakota prior to separation into North and South. The Austro-Hungarian empire is present, while the Turkish Empire extends into the Arabian Peninsula. India has yet to gain independence. The globe consists of Steel Engraved paper gores coated in it's original Shellac. The spheres were hand applied to a plaster sphere mounted on an incremented brass ring atop a turned wood base. This antique globe has age appropriate wear having suffered no serious accidents or abuse that most globes succumb to over 135 years of existence. Franklin Terrestrial Globe 1870 Rare iron base
Franklin Terrestrial Globe with Iron Base. ca. 1870. Troy. New York. Height: 38” Width 16” This rare globe can be dated by the presence of the first efforts to lay the Trans-Atlantic telegraph cable and the Indian Territories marked in the region that later would fully become Oklahoma. The hand colored globe is mounted with a engraved brass meridian and full wooden horizon on an ornate rotating iron floor stand. This level of stand was normally an offering reserved for the larger 16 inch globes offered by the globe manufacturers Gilman Joslin of Boston. At the time the Joslin and Loring labels shared some aspects of their production with a number of smaller globe companies. The Franklin company. Associated with H. B. Nims, Meriam& Moore and Knight names all seemed to borrow furniture, iron and brass work from Gilman Joslin's woodwrights ... moreand foundry castings. This particular stand was most often seen on the prize winning Copley 16 inch terrestrial and celestial globes made by Joslin at the time. The design of the horizon paper. However, is unique to the Franklin/Nims globes of the time. The addition of stronger colors and angled geometric sectioning set this horizon apart from the utilitarian designs favored by Joslin and Loring. This is a very interesting and uncommon globe, on an even rarer stand. Condition: Professionally cleaned with minor touch up. Note that the globe has wear. 1930's Crams 12 Inch Universal Terrestrial Globe on 3 leg wood stand
This is a 12 inch Cram's Universal Terrestrial Globe attached to a 3 legged wood stand. It has a complete metal Meridan ring around it.There is a metal holder of the Meridan and the semi circle metal holder is attached to the wood stand by a screw. Sitting on the wood stand. The 2 pieces together measure 35 inches in height. The globe is pre World War II as it shows the world as it stood in 1930's. The globe has some splitting at the Equator seam and some of the other seams have some minor wear. It still holds together nicely and turns easily. The wood stand is 20 inches and has 3 legs. The wood stand is solid and has some light wear to the wood. Still is a nice display globe. Email any questions.

Hi! Please consider this wonderful. Mechanical school house globe with the rare and most difficult to find lead moon that acts as a counterbalance. The cartouche says"Terrestrial Globe- Eau Claire Book and Stationary Co. Eau Claire, Wis. It measures about 14" across and has a cast iron swivel holder so the globe can be spun in any direction when suspended. The globe is hung on a rope, run through a pulley across the room to another pulley and down to the lead, black and white moon. At the proper distance across the room, when the globe is pulled down by the teacher for viewing, the lead moon(extremely heavy) rises and the 2 are in balance. When the educator is finished, she puts the lead moon on a lower surface and the globe is lifted out of sight and hands of curious and rambunctious children(an ingenious safety feature) The system ... moreworks perfectly at the correct distance. The gores are paper, there is a brass knob at the top and the circular device and holder around the globe is made of cast iron and has numbers on it. The moon measures about 4" across and weighs 9 pounds- it is quite dense. At one time there was a piece of scotch tape put on and removed from the USSR and there is a small dent in South America. Both photos are shown. Otherwise there are no breaks, cracks, repairs or other concerns with this outstanding schoolhouse globe. It shows currents. Equations of the time of day, and lots of other interesting information, I don't know when this was made but feel secure that it was early in the 1900's. I am listing another globe this evening and combined shipping will NOT be possible. In addition. Because of the extreme weight of the moon, the entire system will be shipped in 2 boxes. This vintage globe came from an estate where the gentleman was born in 1925. There is no date on the globe. Any information you could offer would be most helpful. The colors on this globe are nice. It had been stored out of light in the basement. As you can see from the photos. The piece of paper around the circumference has a missing section of about 4 1/4 inches, a small missing piece, and an area with old scotch tape. This could be easily replaced. The globe is dated 1927 on the bottom(South Pole) The entire globe stands 46" tall. The globe is soiled throughout with some scuffs and scratches. 1939 Crams Light Up Cram's 10 1/2" Terrestrial Globe. Cherry Wood Base, WW2. I know this is 1939 because Germany Annexed the Czech Republic in 1939. And Slovakia became independent. In 1940, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania were annexed by Russia, and they are still on the map. This is seen in the 2nd picture. The light fixture inside was replaced because it was a size bulb that no longer exists. And works fine. The original plug was replaced with a period plug(40's or 50's) because the old plug was dangerous(4th last picture) The cord is worn(3rd last picture) but the insulation is fine and not dangerous. The globe stands appr. 15.5" High. For the Collector. This is a wonderful piece of history, showing the world on the brink of World War II. 100% I am semi-retired and purchase Items at estate sales. 1927 Terrestrial Globe 6" Diameter Geographic Educator Jigsaw Puzzle Map
This is a 1927 Geographic Educator 6" diameter Terrestrial Globe made with a jigsaw puzzle map. It measures 10 inches tall(25.4 cm) The base is brown painted cast iron. The globe itself is made of seven layers. Six of which have individual"jigsaw puzzle" countries(the top one is a cover) There is an approximately 1 sq. in. 2.54 cm) oval on the side that says inside: TERRESTRIAL GLOBE 6" DIA GEOGRAPHIC EDUCATOR NEW YORK USA The globe has quite a bit of damage to it. There is substantial loss of the paper that covers the entire globe. In some places there's an entire square piece missing and in many others there are missing pieces around the edges. As to the countries. Bolivia, which has the pole going through it, is cracked in half(though it still is in there securely) The center puzzle piece(but possibly two) are missing ... morefrom Europe. This would include Germany. The northern part of Canada is missing. The section for Africa is cracked in four or five places on the sides. The side of Asia that doesn't have the puzzle was repaired right at the area where the pole goes through the hole(though it is secure) It also appears that the material the globe is made of has shrunk in certain areas and the globe has areas where one section overlaps another section and does not line up flatly. I found 2 globes at an estate sale. This is the second one I am listing, this is an extremely rare and Unusual 12" terrestrial Globe in Fitz Mount by Fitz Globe company in as found condition. Hello! Up for bid is an old lighted globe. Pre-1964. It does have the country Tanganyika which became Tanzania in 1964. I don't know exactly how old the globe is beyond that. There are several scratches and bad small patches of clear on the globe. Especially on the United States. See pictures. Includes 15 watt bulb. The cord is 6 1/2 feet long! Brass base and stand. Some scuffs and scratches. Needs to be cleaned a bit more than I have so far. Metal pullcord for the on/off has discoloration. Works very well. There was probably a cap at the top that is now missing. The globe doesn't spin or fit on the base perfectly. Vintage 12" Cram Terrestrial World Globe- ca. 1930's George F. Cram 12" Terrestrial World Globe 1930's This listing is for a 12" world globe from the George F. Cram Co. in Indianapolis. Indiana. Probably late 1930's with Siam, French Indochina, Persia, etc. The globe has a very nice aged patina to it. There are a number of scuffs and a couple of chips on the surface, but it's still very viewable. I've taken a ton of photos that clearly show the entire surface area. One of the other nice features is the cast iron metal work, which is much more substantial than later manufactured globes and that helps to make for a nice appearance. There is an issue with the globe stand. The suppport ring is split at the top. I took extra photos of that area. The globe is still held together nicely and. When displayed, the ... morecrack is only noticeable if you look closely. I was going to glue it, but it's not really necessary because it's almost invisible. A very nice and hard to find Wm. M Goldthwaite globe. Large 16 inch size. Patent date of 1888. Base is square mahogany. Beautiful warm golden patina! Stands about 27" tall. Overall very nice condition for its age. Has a couple very small losses to the paper(picture# 7 shows 2 examples) A few spots of color fades. Picture# 5 shows the base of globe where it has rubbed against metal arm. Picture# 4 shows the wood base with corner damage. Missing a set screw to hold arm bracket to base. And a detailed gore(e.g. cities, rivers, steamship routes, railroad routes) It is mounted in a full metal meridian, which sits on a striking metal tripod base. This globe also reflects the world as it was after WWI(1918) and before WWII(1939) a time of great change throughout much of the world. Empires that dominated northern Africa. The Middle East, and Europe no longer exist(i.e. Ottoman Empire, Austrian-Hungarian Empire) and many new nations have emerged(e.g. Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia) Also, some areas are now under the control of WWI victors(e.g. French ... moreMandate for Syria, British Mandate for Palestine) African colonies are gaining independence(e.g. German East Africa now Tanganyika Territory, British East Africa now Kenya) The Russian Revolution is underway(e.g. Petrograd now Leningrad) But China has yet to be invaded by Japan.
