An untouched 18th century map of North and South America. Engraved by cartographer Thomas Kitchin. From A New Collection of Voyages. Discoveries and Travels, London, 1767. On good quality laid paper with watermark. Sheet size is approx. 15" x 12 1/4" I believe that the lower half of the left margin was originally cut away to allow for folding within the book. The sheet appears essentially complete. Condition is fair with fold marks(as issued) creases and stains/soiling, some chipped edges, and two tears(with little or no loss of paper) I have included many photos so that the viewer may judge for him/herself. Antique Early 1900's Pull Down Classroom Map of South America
For sale is an incredible antique school wall map of South America that was manufactured in Chicago. Illinois by A.J. Nystrom& Co. This wonderfully aged map is printed on a canvas material and comes with the original metal bracket which still works and is very easy to mount. Due to the fragile nature of the map, it must be removed from the metal bracket to roll it up and down by hand. Have no fear though, it's very easy to do. The original wooden rod is still attached to the bottom of the chart. This map would look great hanging in your library or study or would serve as a great educational work of art in your child's bedroom! Additional details: Measurements(with bracket) Approximately 52.5" Long x 41” wide Circa: 1920's Item Condition: Great antique condition! Colors remain bold and vivid. As noted above. You will need ... moreto roll up/down the map by hand due to its fragile nature. Surface of map has light soilage from years and years of use. Canvas has some normal wear such as wrinkles, bends, frayed edges, light soilage, spotting, etc. The bottom green canvas material is also lightly soiled. There is some very light liquid staining along the upper right and lower left sides of the map. There is also a set of numbers written in pencil on the upper left corner of the map, to the left of Columbia. Offered here are four 1890 dated maps of South America. Map one shows all of South America. Map two shows Northern part of South America, Map three show Brazil and Map four shows Southern South America. The actual map measures approximately 11.5 by 26 inches and they were removed from the Library Reference Atlas of the World by John Bartholomew. Both maps are in good condition though there is crease down the center where the map was bound into the book. The white streak in some of my photos is the reflection from my flash. Can't seem to get rid of it. I have had some of these maps professional framed and they look great. If you are not satisfied, I will refund your money less shipping.
