Titled"Scotland with the Principal Roads from the Best Authorities, it was published by Mathew Carey in Philadelphia in 1795. This copper plate map measures 17 inches by 14 inches overall. Including margins, and there is a clear plate mark around the map area. This was the first map of Scotland published in the United States and it reads at the top"Engraved for M. Carey's American edition of Guthrie's Geography improved. This map is in very nice condition overall. Especially for this type of map, and this 218-year-old map has no significant flaws. There is a barely noticeable centerfold(original) and scattered light browning, but this is ... morevery light and does not significantly detract from the great display potential of this early piece of cartographic history. The map is uncolored. Except for some coloring in the border area with England(see scans) and there is a tiny written notation of"Edinburg" along the bottom border of this map. Other than these minor imperfections, this rare map is in excellent overall condition, probably the finest specimen of this particular map you are likely to encounter. This is a rare and historic map of Scotland. Over two centuries old, and with an appropriate mat and frame, this map will make an outstanding exhibit of 18th Century cartography. 1920 Bartholomew Map- Road Map of Scotland on cloth. This map is a bit battered and bruised. One small cycle route has been inked in but this doesn't detract from the detail. There are a lot of tiny holes were the crease lines meet and some pencil annotations in the margins with a signature on the front cover. Old map of Great Britain. Published by John Bartholowmew& Son Ltd. in congunction with the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. Measures 21 x 25" l do not see any reference to a reproduction nor a date of when it was produced. Has framing sticker on back from 1983. It is finely produced with colored highlights. It doesn't look like it was ever folded. Shipping is $16 to 48 states, possibly more for PO Boxes, AK, HI, International.

It was printed by Chromolithography utilizing zinc plates eteched in relief. The labeling language is in German. In general, the Andrees maps are exceptional for their detail and vibrant color, which are among the best of the late 19th century maps. The map is being sold unmatted or framed as seen in the first pic, printed on a large heavy sheet, blank ... moreon the reverse with a centerfold as issued. Overall a beautiful map in great condition. There is a nice inset of the environ around Vienna. Size: The map image area from neat line to neat line measures approximately 14 1/2 by 17 1/2 inches(37x44cm) on a 17 1/2 by 22" 44x56cm) page with a margin all around for framing. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition for its age with vibrant color on a bright sheet. There are a couple of small dampstains on the edge and some light browning in the margins. Otherwise it is very clean with a strong impression and rich color that would frame up well. It is much better than shown in the pic. The pics are of the actual map.
