VINTAGE CRAM'S SCHOOL PULL DOWN MARKABLE PHYSICAL POLITICAL MAP OF AFRICA. I cannot find a year marking on the map. The George F. Cram Company is from Indianapolis. Indiana. This map is the Mark On- Rub Off type. The material is canvas-like. Nice bright colors. At the bottom of the map in the dark red area, there are some places where the coating has chipped off. One of the chips has become deep enough to go through the canvas to make a small hole. The map is approx. 52" long x 51" wide. There is some yellowing on the back canvas, but it does not come through to the front. The map roll up mechanism works great. The rod is wood and the hanger part is metal. For auction is a large pull down wall map of Michigan I'm not sure of the exact age of this map(Mosy likely mid 1990's) The spring operated roll system makes this easy to deploy and retract and it is in perfect working condition. This map was purchased as surplus from a local school district. The face of the map is in excellent condition. The green on the back of the map does have some flaws on the surface that I tried to show in the pics(There are no rips or tears anywhere on the map) The large white marks are just reflections from my poor lighting. These maps measures about 64" across and is about 54" tall. It also includes the built in mounting bracket/rail so it's ready to install. Didn’t want to try to clean it myself for fear of damaging the piece. It has some wear A few areas on the mat. A dark stain/spill. But I believe it could be removed when cleaned. Description I believe this globe is from the early WWII era. Possibly around 1939. This is my best guess as not everything on the map is consistent with a specific era. Reasons I believe this is from circ 1939 are listed below: Irish Free State(become Ireland in 1937) Italian East Africa(established in 1936) Manchukuo(renamed by Japan when they seized control of Manchuria from1931-1945) Taiwan as a territory of Japan(occupation by Japan ended with their surrender to the USN in 1945) There is no Israel or Lebanon(established 1948 and 1943 respectively) Poland(not yet shown as part of Germany when it was invaded in 1939 until Allied victory in 1945) The school globe is covered with 12 individual paper gores and has a diameter of 8" and a total height of 11" The meridian is made of metal. The globe has definitely seen better days but ... morestill a good-looking globe. Some separation of the paper gores and cracks throughout. As well as the expected scuffing and paper wear consistent with its age and former use as a school teaching aid. This is a Vintage School Pull-Down Map of Mexico. Central America, and West Indies. The map is in excellent condition. There is NO damage to the map. But the map has detached from the roller. It appears that the top portion of the map was stapled to the roller(see photo 12) It should be an easy fix if you have a staple gun. The roller seems to work, but I am not positive because the map is not attached. The map has a wood handle at the bottom with a metal hoop. The roller is made by HARTSHORN. The roller reads- Hartshorn Self-Acting Roller" The bottom of the map reads as follows- Denoyer-Geppert Co. Chicago" The lower right-hand corner of the map reads- Constructed& Printed by W& AK. Original Dutch map of Central Europe from a 1924 atlas.so this m ap is about 90 years old.and original. It is from a 1924 Dutch school atlas.it was not bound like a modern atlas.instead.Luckily for you, each map was printed as a map with a blank back.they were then inserted in the atlas using a type of tape.However,this one itself is wider than the other maps,and is formed by joining two double map pages.hard to explain.simply put.this one has one section of black outline mapping on part of the back, and has a blank page to form a sort of flyleaf in the old atlas. IMPORTANT to you is that the colored map itself is printed on one sheet of paper about 47cm x 24cm.that's 470mm x 240mm.or about 18-1/4 inches x 9-1/2 inches. This map is very old. Top condition,and ready for framing. Note that it is in Dutch language. Map will be posted between ... moretwo sheets of cardboard and inside a Post Office Tough Envelope. This is a 1960 school wall map: roll up style. Includes the canvas back map and the top and bottom roll mounts. The label on the map says this is"Russia The Ancient State in the 11th Century" Made by Denoyer-Geppert Times Mirror in Chicago. Measures 5 by 4 feet. Has age discoloration. Has some staining. Has a couple edge tears see the scans. A beautiful old map: the legend and symbols are colorful and interesting. Will be shipped rolled up.
