The Baltic Sea, Scandinavia, the Arctic and parts of Europe and the Ukraine. This map was printed in the Soviet Union in 1931 and has printing in Russian in Cyrillic text which I can’t read. The map folds out to about 19”x 29” or about 48 cm x 73 cm. The map title includes the date 1931 so this was produced during the First Five Year Plan period in the Soviet Union. This map is looks like it was printed in sections and then laid down a stiff paper backing and folded. The backing is partly separated along the fold lines but I believe this is complete as it was issued. There is a small remnant from a yellow paper toward the center ... moreof the map and there are a couple small pin holes in each corner of the map. The paper is a bit toned from age but in good shape overall. The original owner drew a line in green pencil through the middle of Finland which looks like it might have something to do with the front of the 1939 Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union. There is another small green pencil line from Moscow east. This map is a vintage original produced in the Soviet Union in 1931. The original owner wrote“Russia in Asia” on the back of the map. Map from Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas 1867/1870 - Russia
This auction is for the map of Russia from the Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas of the World. By Prof. A.Guyot. This map is in very nice condition given its age. It is in its original unrestored condition. The colors(all hand colored) are still very vibrant and all of the map is still very readable. There is one small tear on the upper pane but this does not extend into the map itself. The seam is completely intact as shown in the close up of Moscow. There are a few stains in the border and map but I have tried to highlight them in the pictures. These maps were given to me from an estate to sell. I say this for transparency. As I will not be of much help in grading the shape of the maps. However, I will answer any question as quickly as I can. I do have the entire book(covers are in very poor condition) but it has already been split ... moreup. I will be posting a few sections at a time but they are in a pretty random order as I don't really know much about which may be more desirable. If the postings are up at the same time, I will be happy to combine shipping. If you are looking for a particular map, you can ask if I have it and I can see about posting it sooner.
