Printed more than 189 years ago. This map is finely engraved and depicts political boundaries as they existed ten years after the Battle of Waterloo and the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Finland and eastern Poland are part of Russia. Turkey's northern border extends to Hungary and includes Wallachia and western Moldavia, and the Italian peninsula is divided into four kingdoms: Sardinia and Piedmont, the Papal States,the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, and the Two Sicilies. Topography is delineated with hachure llines. And longitude is measured from Greenwich and Washington. There is a distance scale in the lower corner, showing British miles, French leagues, and German and Polish ... moremiles. The image area measures 50 x 55 cm[19-1/2" x 21-3/4" on a larger sheet, with generous margins on all sides.
