RARE! 1939 New York World's Fair Popcorn Machine MFG: Star Measures: 68" Tall x 28" x 24" Weight: 60 lbs(roughly) Includes. Circular Globe This unit is an Original popcorn machine introduced and used at the World's Fair in 1939. This was fully restored over 20+ years ago. And has been sitting in a man-cave/game-room since. It's use in the man-cave was strictly as a nostalgic prop. The cosmetic condition of this unit is in Excellent Condition. There are no scratches or scuffs. No dents or dings, no damage. The metal frame and interior of the popcorn area is polished and clean to a sparkle. Sotheby's New York , Fine Chinese Export Porcelain, Paintings and Works of Art
0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false I am putting up a selection of Christie’s and Sotheby’s Chinese. And Asian, Art catalogues. They are part of a large collection I am clearing out of my library. They are all in Very Good condition, with some of the covers showing minor shelf-wear. Almost all of them have their‘Prices Realised’ lists. I will state when this is not true. I am including the PostNL rates to clarify that I do not charge extra for packing and postage. It generally costs 25.60 Euros(about $35) to send one volume. But if a number are combined, and the weight stays below two kilos, then the price remains the same. PostNL charges 35.60 Euros(about $45) for weights between 2 and 5 kg, so that if more are purchased, the price of sending per item goes down considerably. I always use 1 st class registered(and insured) post. I am ... morenow adding the extra possibility of sending one catalogue at a time as a letter. The maximum size of a letter with PostNL is 380mm X 265mm X 32 mm. The price to send one catalogue(registered and insured to the maximum of 50 Euros) in a Padded(bubble-wrap) envelope. If it is below 2kg, is as follows: Within the Netherlands: 7.50 Euros Europe: 9.50 Euros Worldwide: 16.00 Euros(this equates to $21) In future I will be quoting this as the postal price. Except in the case of the Volume weighing more than 2kg. If extra padding, making a larger package necessary, or if further insurance is needed(for more valuable items) then the original price of $35 will be applicable(In accordance with PostNL rates for larger packages) Combining catalogues in a package will continue to reduce the price of sending per individual unit.

Schuyler had been president of five railroads, helped develop several more, and was known as"America's first ... morerailroad king. Moreover, his family was exceedingly well connected at the very highest levels of New York society. The fraud had important repercussions: for the company, years of legal battles and a loss of 1.8 million; for Wall Street, legal and procedual changes to prevent reoccurrence of this type of fraud' and for New York's upper crust, a sense of shame and disapproval so strong it caused the very name of Robert Schuyler to be all but written out of the historical record. This paper acquaints the reader with Schuyler and his fraud by analyzing documents from the archives of the New York and New Haven Railroad bearing on the affair, including four of the original 1853-4 certificate for spurious shares; twelve 1863-4 agreements by which spurious shares were exchanged for genuine; and 1866 receipts for newly capitalized shares necessitated by some $1 million in Schuyler fraud claims awarded by the courts. NEW YORK CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT THE HARVEY FIRE BOAT BXP 63
NEW YORK CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT THE HARVEY FIRE BOAT
1918 Document & Hand Written Letter by John O'Mara New York Fire Department City
Original politically incorrect 1918 Fire Department of the City of New York letter with hand written possible"draft copy" reply on back by Deputy Chief in charge John O'Mara borough of Brooklyn. This letter was found by me inside a book from the 1920's on the history on NYC and is an original letter and not a copy or reproduction. I would guess that this letter either stayed in O'Hare's position or one of the people under him and saved for all of these years. While I agree with the fire commissioner's letter. In today's world you can not write and send a letter this bold to the citizens without major backlash. This is an original letter and not a copy. Front is typed on official N.Y.C.F.D. letterhead and reads from top; All bold type in the letter below is from the the fire commissioner as written to the ... moreresidents of NYC. Fire department of the city of New York. Fire prevention day November 2nd. 1918. The conservation of materials and supplies is one of the most important means whereby the people at home can best aid our Army and Navy in winning the war. Dear Sir: Fires are costing YOU PERSONALLY each year $2.40. If there are five members of your family. Fires are COSTING YOUR HOUSEHOLD $12.00 a year. Ninety percent of the fires are apparently due to avoidable causes. If people in this City were not so CARELESS, YOU PERSONALLY would have more money to spend on food, clothing and other necessities. This is a matter which AFFECTS YOUR VITAL INTERESTS. Approximately SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF ALL FIRES OCCUR IN OUR HOMES. Examine your own premises and see if some of YOUR CARELESS HABITS might not be responsible for bad fire conditions. Perhaps you PERSONALLY. Or members of your family, are CARELESS IN THE USE OF MATCHES, allowing children to play with them, or leaving them where rats and mice can get at them; perhaps YOU are a CARELESS SMOKER and throw lighted matches, cigars, cigarettes, etc. away. CARELESSNESS with matches, cigars, cigarettes, heat from stoves, boilers, stove pipes,
