1855 Magnus Map of New York City and Brooklyn
1855 map of New York City issued by map publisher Charles Magnus in commemoration of the Declaration of Independence. Depicts the entirety of Manhattan as well as most of Brooklyn. Bedford, Williamsburgh, Greenpoint, Queens, Ravenswood, Astoria, Jersey City and Hoboken. An inset map at the bottom center shows Long Island. The whole is rendered in extraordinary detail with special attention given to individual streets, blocks, parks and even important buildings. Shows the beginnings of Hunters Point, or Long Island City in Queens. Important ferry crossings, canals, and railroads are also indicated. In Manhattan the maps notates various districts including Manhattanville, Yorkville, and Harlem. Central Park has yet to manifest and though the grid structure above 155th street is ghosted in, it has yet to be officially planned. Where Columbia ... moreUniversity stands today this map shows the location of the New York Lunatic Asylum. In Hoboken, Jersey City, and Long Island City, several planned landfills are indicated. Also in Hoboken we see the Elysian Fields, a park expanse along the Hudson River that claims to be the home of the world’s first baseball game. At the bottom center of the map a numerically and alphabetically keyed legend notes“Universities, Colleges and Scientific and Literary, Benevolent-Institutions” Public Buildings” and“Places of Amusement” In the lower left there is an inset engraved depiction of New York’s City Hall. Steam ships are shown navigating the Hudson River in both the upper right and upper left quadrants. In the Lower right quadrant an elaborate medallion features the full text of the declaration of Independence as well as sigils representing each of the original 13 colonies. The whole is surrounding by a large an attractive arabesque vine motif border. All in all this is one of the finest and most visually appealing maps of New York City to appear in the 19th century.

Guide is approximately. 8 inches by 9 inches and opens to approximately. 16 in by 18 in. It has 23 pages. The guide looks like it was lightly folded at one time. It has a few tiny rips and is a little worn around the edges. Cover is a little discolored and there are some small stains on back. Cover has a 1/2 inch seam split. Staples are intact and fairly clean. There are no rips or writing on the inside pages.

This is an amazing Vintage Nautical Map of New York City Harbor and the Hudson& East Rivers. This map shows New York City. Brooklyn, Jersey City, Long Island city, Ellis Island, Liberty Island, and more. This map is big measuring approximately 47"long x 33" wide and is in great shape for the age. There are some minor spots on the outer edges giving it a little character but it has no rips or tears. It has been folded as I suspect this is how it was originally shipped. This map is a 14th edition dated October 31st 1966 of New York Harbor.again in great condition for being almost 48 years old! It was published in Washington DC by U.S. Department of Commerce Environmental Science Services Administration Coast and Geodetic Survey. Hello, This auction is for an MTA New York City Subway map dated effective September 30. 1990. The map measures 26" high by 22" wide. There are no tears, not even where the folds meet. Slight dog-ear on the corners. It was stored in a smoking household, but the paper is fairly white, and there is no noticeable odor. Winning bidder pays shipping. The Map Dec. 1999 New York City Subway Map Small Tear In Back & Write On Front
Great 1999 New York City Subway map but it is not perfect. There are a couple of numbers written in ink on the lower front cover and there is about a 1" tear on the back where the map opens and another small tear about 1/4" on the next piece that opens. I didn't see anything else and the rest of the map appears perfect. So the price is much lower due to these issues. Thank you for looking.

Up for bid is a rare vintage New York City Subway Transit Newsletter Only In New York from 1990. This being the Winter issue. Made at a time when they were trying to improve the image of the subway. The NYCTA put out this fun newsletter. One side showed postcard views of the system, past and present, and the backs show questions that are answered. An interesting step back in time! VINTAGE GULF TOURGIDE CITY ROAD MAP OF 1974 GREATER NEW YORK CITY /LONG ISLAND
These vintage road maps are in various states of condition Please scroll down to see the underlined IN RED condition of this particular map Please be aware that these Road Maps are anywhere from 10 to 90 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So some of the maps you are buying may be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders and fold lines of the maps may also have tears. On occasion maps may smell musty from the way they have been stored in the past. When the map is kept in an open area the musty smell will fade away in time. Any damage ... morethat is above and beyond the norm will be disclosed. All are sold as is I have pictured ONLY the covers in some cases only due to the long process of unfolding folding and photography. If you are interested in seeing the full photographic condition of a particular map I will be more than happy to post additional pics showing the map in its entirity Description Grades listed below CRISP no soil. Wear, or creases. Station stamp is acceptable, as are small wrinkles introduced in printing. Age toning acceptable only if even. MINT As above. But minor edge wear seen. Light pencil marking okay. Age toning may be uneven. NEAR MINT As above. Professional routing marks or a minor annotation okay. Creases show usage. But map has not been misfolded. EXCELLENT As above. But wear is evident. Corners of inner creases may be beginning to separate, but less than 1 cm. May be rippled from water damage/high humidity but may not be foxed. Any dogear creases are not torn. There may be single tack holes. Map may have been misfolded. VERY GOOD As above. But separations extend less than half a panel span. If tears are not on a crease, each is less than 1 cm. Map Dimensions The pamphlet into which this folds measures 6" X 4" The map unfolds to 26 1/4" X 16" Condition In overall very good to excellent condition. There are a very few splits at the folds that have been archivally strengthened. The soft brown covers are still attached. There are 62 pp. in the pamphlet listing all the mercantile businesses.
