This listing is for an 1855 US Coast Survey Chart of Portland. Maine. It measures 25"x21.5" It's shrink wrapped, so I couldn't get a very good picture of it. It has fold creases. We bought this at an estate auction. The 80 year old gentleman who had it, collected art and old documents, and sold them in his gallery. He retired, and this has been in storage, for 10 or 20 years. He had a $175 price tag on it.

Published at the London 21st July 1961 under the superintendence of Rear Admiral E.G.Irving O.B.E. Hydrographer. Small corrections 1961-62 in print& 1963 in pen. Measures- 71.5 x 116.5cm. Rubbed out pencil marks centre. A few small pen corrections and a sum in the right border in pencil. I don't know a lot about this sort of item so can't really add any more information. The Chesapeake Bay, Delaware Bay, New York Harbor, the Bahama Banks, and the Outer Banks are rendered in beautiful detail. The chart is presented on a Mercator Projection with latitude measured from Greenwich, England. Like most nautical charts, the cartographer offers very little inland detail, but a wealth of maritime data. This includes the identification of various ports and harbors, coastal topography, shoals and other undersea dangers, and countless depth soundings in fathoms. This chart further features six large insets in the upper right quadrant offering detailed charts of'Tybee Bay and the Mouth of the Savannah River' Cape Fear River and Frying-Pan Shoals' Cape Hatteras' Charleston Harbor' the'Entrance of the River Delaware' and the'Entrance to Chesapeake Bay' The cartography of the insets generally follows the preliminary work of the U. The Jagannath Temple and the Konnark Sun Temple are two of the most renowned temples in India and important pilgrimage destinations Hindus. Further north, The Hooghly River, one of the most important trade and transport arteries during the colonial era, and the reason the British chose to settle in Calcutta, was witness to several battles. Powered by CONDITION: This map is in very good condition. It has wear appropriate with age and use. The edges are a bit blunted and is creased from being folded. There are a few small tears around the edge and some pin holes. Overall a nice map with wear from use. An original and very nice. Antique, nautical chart of the English Channel from 1919. Map originally published Jan. 15, 1915 at the Hydrographic Office under the authority of the Secretary of the Navy. West section in very good condition with one cut on edge which butts to the next section(last photo) and number#4432. Center section in very good condition and number#4433, and east section has soiling thru center and number#4434. This map is large and in three pieces(west. Center and east) each measuring 28 x 42" This would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
