The antique map was taken from Hammond’s Comprehensive Atlas of the World published in 1915. Great for family history as the map shows political boundaries. Countries, cities, towns, and landmarks of prior to 1915; some of which may no longer exist. Unframed so you can select a frame and matting that matches your décor. The total size of the two pages measures approximately 13 1/8” x 9 ¼” While the map itself, varies in size somewhat, but generally measures approximately 11” x 8 3/8” The map itself is dated somewhere in the ten-year period prior to publication of the atlas. Of the 62 map listings. 58 of them are made up of a two-page map that was center-bound in the atlas. This means that the maps are in two-parts. For ... moredisplay purposes they require that the un-illustrated portion near the center-binding be cut away from both pages. This will bring the two halves of the map into alignment. In some cases there is staining on the map pages. Most of that takes place in the border area, but it does impact some maps. The map of Ireland has a significant tear at the top which. Here is a map of the City of Chillicothe. Missouri, created by Leo Saale, dated 1925. The map appears to be on paper and is laid on linen, so it's a linen-backed map. It's quite a nicely done vintage map, showing the streets, key businesses and facilities, and includes local advertising on the lower and right margins. The map measures 18 inches high and 21 inches across. On the map, Hwy 65 is outlined in blue pencil, and there are a few small red outlines in places as well. Research shows Leo Saale is a descendant of the Saale family, a pioneer family that first arrived in 1854. A nice an unusual historic item! This would look great framed on a wall. This is a color map titled: Missouri. The map measures about 9 by 11 7/8 inches and is on an about 10 1/8 by 13 ¼ inch sheet. Which is folded to about 6 7/8 by 10 1/8 inch. A narrow mounting strip is glued to the blank back of the map along the fold line through the center of the map. Printed on the map is"Copyright 1904 by The Americana Company. A double-sided page with boldly colored maps of Missouri on one side and Montana on the other side. From an atlas by the renowned George F. Cram Company. Most antique and vintage maps have subdued shades. But these maps have rich colors that will really stand out framed. Because the maps are printed back to back. Only one can be displayed at a time. An original page from a 1960s atlas. Not a reprint or copy. Condition: Very good. The pages was just a bit big for the scanner. So part of the margin does not show in the image. The measurements are 37 inches high by 50 inches wide. It comes mounted on a spring roller. With a wood dowel at the end. This map is in great condition. However, there are a couple of small tears in the map ABOVE where the map pulls down(please see picture) This does not affect the way the map rolls, nor is it visible unless the map is pulled down farther than it is supposed to be. For over 50 years, Mitchell his son's and their successors were the most prominent cartographical publishers ... moreof maps and atlases in the United States. Samuel Augustus Mitchell was born in Bristol. Connecticut on March 20, 1792. His father emigrated from Scotland in 1773. While little is know about his early schooling, it is know that Mitchell found the quality of early geography text books to be lacking, and determined that he would write and publish better works. This decision led him to relocate to Philadelphia in 1829 or 1830, which was then the center of commercial publishing in America. Mitchells first cartographic work was the re-issue of Anthony Finleys New American Atlas in 1831. A work first issued by Finley in 1826, in response to Henry Schenk Tanners monumental work of the same title, issued in serial format from 1818 to 1822 and as a complete work from 1823 onward. While the map content in Mitchells edition of the New American Atlas are same as Finleys edition, each map has been significantly improved and revised, primarily with the addition of new owns and roads. This is especially true in the South and West. Finley had originally collaborated with D.H. Vance and J.H. Young in the preparation of the maps. Vances name is removed from the Mitchell edition.
