Page size is approximately 11.75 by 14.75 inches(30 x 37.5 cm) Thus. P aper size is approximately 14.75 inches by 22.25 inches(37.5 x 56.5 cm) for double page maps.which have the original fold as issued) and 11.75 by 14.75 inches for the single page maps. Blackie's atlas maps are very collectible. And the large folio size makes them well suited to display. These maps are printed single sided, as was common with the higher end atalase of the era, and with nice margins. The maps from this book are very handsome, interesting, and perfect for framing. This is an 1871 engraved map of Texas. New Mexico& Indian Territory, with insets of the environs of New Orleans& Chicago. It measures 12.5 X 17 inches. Published by T. Edward Zell. Philadelphia. Map was engraved by J. Bartholomew. For history of the famous Bartholomew maps, see last paragraph below. We are unable to find many of these maps in the major dealers sites. The ones we did find had prices of $200- $500 and up and were not in as good a condition as this map. Be my guest. Go look for yourself. Paper shows minor age spots. I am not a Map Collector or any type of expert. I will tell you what I know about this Map. It will help if you Google Perry C. Van Arsdale. Read his History and Works, it will help you appreciate this map. My research also shows that this map is used and sought after by Treasure Hunters. I always planned to frame this. Just never got around to it. Now it is time for someone else to be the caretaker. This Map shows such detailed information covering New Mexico in the early 1800's thru Early 1900. I am not a good photographer but. Hope you can see the details and defects. It has insect damage, stain, rough edges. This only adds to the appeal for many. Of course ruins it for Purist Collectors. This is not some copy, it is an Original as purchased. See the Van Arsdale imprint in lower right hand corner. Perry Van Arsdale began his mapping ... moreof pioneer history(history prior to the 1900’s) because his 7-year old granddaughter needed help researching the Sante Fe trail. With his obsession for accuracy and his personal knowledge of the trail. He set off to correct the information he thought to be erroneous in his granddaughter’s textbook. Thus began an odyssey which would not end until his death in 1976. Perry and his granddaughter began by sending postcards to local postmasters requesting information on ghost towns and mining towns. The postmasters put Perry in touch with judges. Sheriffs, and descendants of historical figures. Encouraged by the enthusiastic written responses of people, Perry gathered his research tools- clipboard, paper, and pen- and his family to visit the people and places in person. After interviews, he followed up by verifying the accounts in town and court records. All the stories and facts were carefully recorded and transferred to 3x5 cards for future reference. With a mounting amount of information. Perry decided upon detailed maps as the best way to easily pass his knowledge on to others. This is your chance to own a map that can be the centerpiece of your collection. Cartographer: Joseph Hutchins Colton(July 5. 1800- July 29, 1893) often publishing as J. H. Colton, was an important American map and atlas publisher active from 1833 to 1893(though the firm continued to published in 1897) Colton's firm arose from humble beginnings when he moved to New York in 1831 and befriended the established engraver Samuel Stiles. Colton recognized an emerging ... moremarket in railroad maps and immigrant guides. Not a cartographer or engraver himself, Colton's initial business practice mostly involved purchasing the copyrights of other cartographers, most notably David H. Burr, and reissuing them with updated engraving and border work. His first maps, produced in 1833, were based on earlier Burr maps and depicted New York State and New York City. Between 1833 and 1855 Colton would proceed to publish a large corpus of guidebooks and railroad maps which proved to be very popular. In the early 1850s Colton brought his two sons, George Woolworth Colton(1827- 1901) and Charles B. Colton(1832- 1916) into the map business. G. W. Colton, trained as a cartographer and engraver, was particularly inspired by the idea of creating a large and detailed world atlas to compete established European firms for the U.S. market. This is a very nice map of New Mexico from a salvaged vintage Rand McNally Atlas. It measures 14 by a shy 11 inches. This map should look great framed under glass. Shows many towns and locations that no longer exist. A true historical item. The map has stains in the right corners mostly in the margin area. This is for the map you see in the pictures. This is a big map at 11 x 14-1/2 inches from edge to edge. The map is in great condition with no rips or marks in the map part and just slight toning to the page. This is a double or triple sided map and will include the Countries in the title. Some of the map pages are made together as they have a 2 page map on the inside and a single one on the back of each side of that. You will have to look carefully at the pictures as that is the maps you will get. I have a lot of other maps on from this atlas and will combine shipping. This atlas was already divided into the maps before I bought it so this is how you will get the maps. This is a very hard to find book and not a common atlas. This Map was designed by Matthew Carey a Dublin Born Publisher. Who established himself in Philadelphia in the late 18th and early 19th century. He had His most important work was the 1795 American Atlas, which was the first to be published in America. He also had lifelong friendship with Benjamin Franklin. This map is in very good condition and is in a museum mounted frame. The label on the back says published in England, but it was published in Philadelphia. The map shows Texas, New Mexico, and Central America. This will make a good addition to any map collection.

1931 map of Mexico. 2 maps. 11.25" X 15" Genuine. Very Rare, read why!
These are 1931 maps of Mexico. They are from a scarce Cram's Atlas. The maps measure 11.25 X 15 inches. They are in near mint condition showing only minor handling. Buyer will get a printed out page size copy of the index page. This is superior to any"Certificate of Authenticity" which are normally printed out on the sellers own computer. We send this to prove map was extracted from this extremely rare atlas and to help with insurance appraisals as the map will surely increase in value. There are a few reasons this map is rare. And more difficult to obtain than a Cram's map of the late 1800's. In 1931 the United States and the World was in a catastrophic depression. Thus Cram's did not print as many, and very few people had the money to buy this atlas. Map pages from the The Twentieth Century Peerless Atlas and Pictorial Gazetteer The book was published in 1901. The maps are generally not individually marked with a copyright date. Large m ap of Arizona/ New Mexico and Washington/ Oregon States are on opposite sides of atlas page. Original page measures 11" X 13-1/2" Most of the maps in this book do not show copyright dates. However, those that do show dates were copyrighted between 1895 and 1899. + + + There is some typical darkening from age and handling around the edges of the pages. But overall in good condition for a document that is 110 years old! All of my maps are originals. I do not destroy good books. But rescue pages from damaged and ruined atlases.
