The map sold for sixteen shillings for a colored copy in 1792 and was reprinted on a number of occasions. Apart from its incredible detail, Beaufort introduced a number of innovations including the first use of hachures, closely spaced lines depicting relief on a national map. He was rector of the Church of Ireland in Navan, a founding member of the Royal Irish Academy and a prominent member of the Royal Dublin Society. This map is in good vintage condition with splitting of some seams at the right side. Also some light pencil notations and minor staining (see photos). Shipping weight, well packed, is under 1 lb.

Many areas shown in the outer suburbs as undeveloped land on these maps are now built up. Less frequently. When I was growing up he had this suitcase in the closet covered with Travel stickers and inside were many interesting and wonderful things. It was all of his memorabilia from attending the Jamborees He passed away in 1991 ... moreand I have decided it is time to finally let this go. I attempted to sell it all as one lot but sadly no one made a bid so I am being forced to break it up. The items will be listed throughout the next week. There were only a little more than 900 Americans who went to The Jamboree in the Netherlands that year. His trip started with his local Boy Scout Camp. Then on to the National Jamboree in Washington, then to NYC for a few days of Sightseeing and then they they boarded the Aquitania and set sail from France. It was by far the most detailed map of London published up to that time, and remains an important historical resource. The map of London and his other maps brought him an appointment as cartographer to the Prince of Wales in 1751. A fire in 1750 destroyed his premises and stock. KENSAL GREEN& QUEEN'S PARK 1913 SHEET NUMBER 47 BRAND NEW. UNUSED IN SUPERB CONDITION This map is taken from the 1/2500 plans and reproduced by Alan Godfrey at about 15 inches to the mile. It is highly detailed, even showing individual houses, schools, works, churches and covers an area of about one and a half square miles There has been four versions of this map published. 1865, 1894, 1913 and 1935( This is the 1913 version and I am also selling the other versions separately on ebay right now) Showing how the area developed across the years, becoming progressively more built up.The maps each cover the same area, with Kensal Green on the west side of the map, west Kilburn to the east, and Kensal New Town near the foot of the map. Stretches of the Hampstead Junction, LNWR and GWR railway lines and the Grand Junction Canal run through ... morethe map. On the 1865 version there is little development apart from Kensal New Town, buildings along Kensal Road, part of Westbourne Green in the extreme SE corner, and early west Kilburn streets around Canterbury Road. Near the centre of the map is Chamberlain Wood Farm. Each map shows All Souls(or Kensal Green) Cemetery. The later maps are much more built up, with solid streets of housing between Kensal New Town and the LNWR railway, including Harrow Road, Kilburn Lane, Shirland Road and many more. Other features include gasworks, carriage sheds, Queen's Park, Queen's Park station. On the 1913 map Kensal Rise, north of the LNWR is also built up. The 1935 map includes the car factory for Talbot cars. The three later maps include extracts from street directories. The 1865 map includes a description of the cemetery from Walford's Old& New London The map links up with London Sheets 36 Willesden Green to the north. 46 Willesden Junction to the west. 48 St Johns Wood to the east. Motoring and Touring map of London, Kent, East Sussex
This rather elderly map was published by Ward. Lock and Co's, though I have not been able to find a date. It is printed on paper with a linen backing, the scale being three miles to an inch. The closed map measures approx 3.5"x 6.5" and opened out is 21" x 26.5" It is complete, though yellowed with age and has small tears at some of the edges on the fold lines.On the front cover, a previous owner has added their initials in ink.

In addition.Their is a very detailed inset map of the River Thames as far as London. The map is full of rhumb lines, sand banks,and numerous depth soundings. Contemporary early or original colouring which is confirmed by the pigments used in the early colouring causing some very fine cuts in border lines in the odd places which have all been profesionally reinforced on the obverse on those odd areas it occurs. I would stress that there is absolutely no loss to the map other than two small border losses and a fine line in part of the fold. which I have shown on attached pics. The picture of the obverse confirms no loss of paper. I will be happy to supply further detailed pics upon request. Hackney, London – Antique Segmented Map, Late 19th Century (I think)
A very detailed Edward Stanford map of the area. Undated. But my view is that it’s late nineteenth century; the reason being I believe the boundary shown on the map is the old parliamentary constituency as it existed from 1868 to 1885. The basis for the map is the six-inch to a mile map of London first published by Stanford’s in 1872, but this map has definitely been updated from then. The reason for the map is to show the locations of schools. Against the hugely detailed street plan. Condition is very good. The sheet measures approx 59cm x 70cm. And the paper map has been dissected into 12 segments(right hand segments very narrow) and mounted on linen, as originally issued. The map itself is evenly toned and remains clean and very fresh in appearance. The linen showing through is slightly dust soiled along the bits exposed when folded, with ... morealso the paper along the bottom horizontal fold a littled browned) but overall very good and without holes. On the verso lightly tanned and a very small amount of bubbling- but overall very clean and flat and there is marbled paper on the folded end segments with minor handling marks. 1782 Bowles Map- Untitled Carington Bowles was a very successful English publisher of maps and prints during the latter part of the eighteenth century. Not much of his output was genuinely original and he inherited or acquired a lot of material from earlier cartographers. One of his publications was"Bowles Post-Chaise Companion" a small compendium of road maps which updated the earlier work of Ogilby. Bowen, Senex and Gardiner. This work is fairly hard to find. This is a hand coloured lithograph map of London mounted on Linen with original colour and was published by George Philips& Son. It Includes an alphabetical list of streets, public buildings, railways, etc; also underground& electric railways, bus and tram-car routes. This map is currently advertised on the net for £360. Condition: one tear between sections. See pictures. There are no age marks to the map. An old repair has been done using linen tape to the rear or the street list booklet, a very old name has been written on the back of the map which has now faded somewhat. What is quite rare apart from the map and its condition is that the original tape measure is still ... morepresent, these were often removed and lost.
