Rare and unusual U.S. Postal Department Rural Delivery Map for Erie County. New York. 9 x 12" paper sections mounted on linen backing. Pale blue print on a white background. Yellowed with age. Map has 16 panels. And measures 34" x 46" and folds down into a portable 9 x 12" package. Has a code no.HE6456 N7U5 Some staining in the upper right quadrant. Not sure of the exact age of this map- I believe it to be around the turn of the century. Probably 1900-1910. The Postal Dept.as it was known as before the Postal Service, started rural delivery in the late 1800's, and the first rural delivery routes in New York State were established in 1906. The maps folded so they could be easily carried into the field by postal carriers as a handy reference. There is an"Explanation" panel listing all the towns. And symbols ... morefor houses, churches, roads, and routes, with distances and delivery codes. I am listing 8 more of these Rural Delivery Maps. All various New York counties. These are beautiful antique works on paper. Over 100 years old, representing a unique piece of U.S. history. It is largely drawn from Brue's map of Mexico(1834) It shows the Republic of Texas depicted in its smaller configuration with its southern border along the Nueces River. The southwest is still shown as Mexican Territory. In the Pacific Northwest. The U.S.Canadian border reflects the American claims into present-day British Columbia. The huge Missouri Territory stretches between the Rocky Mountains and the large Northwest Territory, and between Canada and Texas- thus incorporating the region that would become Indian Territory. The region of the Great Basin does not show Fremont's exploration and is marked Oede Sand Wuste(Desolate Sandy Desert) A color key assists in the location of eight of the smaller states in the Northeast. This is a large and splendid map dating to 1852 and made by H.G. Collins of 22 Paternoster Row. This is made up of sections which are all mounted onto a linen backing. The map reads: A Map of England and Scotland showing the Lines in Operation with their Stations. Those in Progress and those for which Acts of Parliament are Obtained' This is all in excellent condition and is free from mark. Stain, tear or other fault. This has been stored in a temperate room which has kept the paper in good order, making it neither too dry and brittle nor damaged through damp. Excellent for a collector as well as an impressive piece for a wall. This comes folded as intended by the publisher. With the sections folding over into a compact finished format of 9 x 4.75 inches/ 23 x 12 cms. Format when Unfolded: 52 x 40 inches/ 132 x 102 cms

UNUSED NEW ZEALAND VTG FLAX LINEN TEA TOWEL BIRDS FLOWERS MAP SOUVENIR
For sale a vintage tea towel that I believe was never used. This is still very stiff like they are when they are new. This measures 30 3/4 inches by 19 inches and is in excellent condition except for having some humidity spots as you can see in the last 2 pictures. This happens all the time here in Houston to clothes and linens when you store them away. They are light and there's a few of them scattered around. I have never had a problem with them not coming out in the wash but I can't guarantee anything. Will ship within 24 hours of your cleared payment except on the weekend. Thank you! So I can attest that it is at least 60yrs.old a lot of tables and dishes it has been used for it has three small holes in it so I haven't used it in many yrs. it might look great behind a frame cuz I bet there isn't very many of these left,thanks for stopping p.s. Unused Vintage Printed Linen Towel Map of Ireland& Notable Cities Attractions recently purchased a stationary box filled with a"stack" of folded and unused printed linen towels at an estate sale. Please see my other listings for the rest of the pile! This towel depicts a map of Ireland with little cartoonlike vignettes of the various cities and attractions in this country. Very colorfully done with a turquoise colored background and the sights done in purple dark green. Yellow and red. There is a large Celtic cross on the right and a pot filled with shamrocks at the bottom. The bottom states this was made in Ireland, and that the manufacturer was Blackstaff. This map was photo etched at the Ordnance Survey Office. Southampton, UK and drawn and printed by the War Office just before the outbreak of the First World War. The scale is 1:100,000 or 1" to 1.58 miles. The map still has bright colors and apart from a very small tear at the top of the map appears to be intact. For sale a very colorful vintage Flowers of Figi tea towel that would be great as a wall hanging as well as using it in the kitchen as a hand or dish towel. This is linen and measures 26 1/2 inches by 16 3/4 inches and was designed by Derek Designs. There are some white spots as shown where the imprint has worn off. I did not wash this. It is as found. Some names of towns are given in Irish and English such as AN UAIMH- NAVAN- IN THIS CASE THE Irish name is given precidence. Dublin is also marked Baile Atha Cliath. And in this case the Irish name is secondary. In the case of Cork, Corcaigh” is also marked but as a secondary name. Kings County and Queens County are not shown as alternative names for Offaly and Laois but Offaly is not called Contae Uíbh Fhailí. And Laois is marked“Leix” on this map. Details printed to map show it as first published in 1925 with periodical corrected reprints and reference to lower left is 4037. M36.R34. Owners name and handwritten date to back cover is 1938. Cover is a little worn at top edge and lower corners. Some brown spots to map but otherwise in very good condition no tears or holes.
