This is a 1941 War Office map which was cleared from the estate of a man who flew as a Lancaster bomber pilot during WWII. This is a map of South East London which extends south to Sevenoaks in Kent. This is Ordinance Survey Map sheet 115 and is indicated as Section Q of RAF flight command. This has been folded for a long time. But it is in very good overall condition. There are some oil marks to the map where it has been handled by flight personnel and some pencil marks to which seem to have been made by a navigator. Very interesting genuine WWII map which has been out on active service. Pic#5 shows the reverse of the map. Format when unfolded: 32.25 x 24.5 inches/ 82 x 62.5 cms

Scale 1 inch = 15.000 feet. Circa 1890s Approximately 11 by 1/2 inches. Fine condition. From Wikipedia: The Midland Terminal Railway was a running from the near to. The railroad made its last run in February 1949. The Cripple Creek gold rush of 1890 inspired the Santa Fe Railway. Which owned and operated the Colorado Midland Railway at that time, to run a spur line south from Divide, located on the Colorado Midland line, to the Cripple Creek District. After construction issues stopped the project, the same organizers formed a new company, ... morethe Midland Terminal Railway, and built the proposed line. Construction began in 1893 with the first segment completed near Divide on December 9. 1893. This track was originally 3 ft( 914 mm) This track reached just south of the town of Midland. In January 1893. The Santa Fe Railway in conjunction with the local financiers tore up the narrow gauge track and ran a new survey for a 4 ft 8 1 ⁄ 2 in( 1.435 mm) track south on the new survey route to the town of Midland which was midway between Divide and Cripple Creek. The track reached the town of Gillette on July 4. 1894. It continued south, reaching the Portland Mine north of by December 1894 and Victor Junction by mid-January 1895. During 1895 a branch in Victor was built and extended near to. The line reached the town of Anaconda by the autumn of 1895 and Cripple Creek in December 1895. Regularly scheduled passenger trains stopped running in 1931 and just two special passenger trains ran in 1949 prior to the Midland line shutting down that year. It says the map’s topography was created back in 1899 and it shows a detailed image of the City of Milwaukee including the greater Milwaukee area. The map was mounted to some kind of fabric and was used by a city planner or architect back in the 1910s after he got back from World War I. Not sure the reason it was mounted on fabric. A RARE GEORGE FREDERICK CRUCHLEY MAP OF LONDON and 14 MILES of SURROUNDING COUNTRYSIDE TITLED' ORDANCE MAP of the COUNTRY 14 MILES ROUND LONDON' nicely hand coloured. Dissected into 32 sections and mounted on linen. Dated c. 1857. folding into its original full leather slipcase, now somewhat worn but still able to protect the map within. Map measures 58cm x 73 cm(23 x 29 inches) then folds down to just 4 x 6 inches. FROM WATFORD- CHIPPING BARNET- EPPING FORREST- in the North TO KINGSTON. SURREY- BROMLEY- in the South FROM- REISLIP& HOUNSLOW- in the West TO- ROMFORD- DARTFORD- in the East There are three breaks to the linen along the sides of 3 sections which occur either side of the leather wraps. George Frederick Cruchley(1796-1880) published some of the clearest maps of London during the Victorian era. His maps have become highly collectable over the years. This is rather a nice example showing some of the early Railways running across London- Cruchley would use earlier maps which he then updated, I believe this to be one of those as some of the features are quite a bit earlier than 1857, but I am not an expert on maps and this is only from my observations.
