RARE Dated 1928 Denoyer-Geppert School Classroom Map CIVIL WAR A16 A17 Oak& Linen. Made by Denoyer-Geppert Co. of Chicago. Compiled and Drawn by R Baxter Blair. It is actually 2 maps in 1 roll down linen backed roll- Numbers A16& A17. Hart American Historical Series with A16 showing Civil War locations and A17 depicting 4 parts Abolition, Reconstruction, Cotton Production and Per Capita Wealth. The map section measures 43-1/2" wide and 63" long; the actual full piece would be slightly larger when fully opened. This is a genuine 1928 school map- NOT a reproduction or later issue. The linen shows slight edge wear but no tears or holes, the colors are fine and vivid. The only issue is the map ends has half pulled off the oak rollers at both ends but just needs to be re-stapled in place, quite minor. The Denoyer-Geppert Company ... morewas founded in 1916 by L. Rare Antique Linen 1861 Washington Wall Map of The United States Civil War Era
This auction is for an extremely rare linen-backed 1861 Washington Map of the United States. This map measures about 68" high by 70" wide. This is NOT a reproduction. This looks quite a bit different from the United States we know today. Many states and counties had not formed. There are 1860 census figures published in the bottom portion of the map. As you might have already seen in the photos. This map is in poor condition. The paper has become rather brittle, and some large pieces have flaked off completely(missing) At some point in time, someone had tried to repair the edges with clear tape. The map has become separated from the upper wooden rod and part of the lower rod. This map also has stains/yellowing. Fortunately there are no strong mildew odors(this map smells like old fabric/paper) This map will be packed and shipped ... morewith great care in a PVC tube. I will ship via FedEx ground. Enormous 1892 Ordnance Map of the British Isles on linen
New Reduced Ordnance Map of the British Isles by J Bartholomew. Published by G Philip& Son. Scale 10 miles to 1 inch. Undated but COPAC states 1892 which corresponds with the railways under construction. Huge map(approx 6 feet x 5 feet) dissected into 80 sections and laid on 2 separate sheets of linen(each approx 3 feet x 5 feet) 2 maps then housed in slipcase. The map is in very good condition for its age with just a few minor marks to map face- the linen backing is also in very good condition. Slight creasing to top edge of southern sheet. Slipcase is less good and lacks one side(see photos) I think this map is quite uncommon- COPAC only lists one copy(at the British Library) which is unusual.

An extremely Rare(and large) Victorian HM Office of Works coloured Ordinance Survey Map of Ironbridge with the River Severn running through the centre. Also showing: Madley. Jackfield, Buildwas, Bentall and Broseley Parishes. Surveyed in 1882 and Published in 1883 by Ordinance Survey. This Map would have been displayed in a local School or Estate/Government Office. Sadly the condition is quite poor as it was printed on paper then varnished and linen backed at the time of production and the varnish has become discoloured and cracked over the years. And there are losses and discolouration. This is rare and important Map and would benefit from careful restoration and conservation. 1936 Linen Map of Witten Germany This scarce linen-backed map is labeled"Ubersichtsplan der Stadt- Witten" Overview Plan of the City of Witten) in German. And is dated 1936. Witten was an industrial city on the Ruhr River that played a significant role in World War II. The map has good detail of streets, areas in the city and some geographic features such as the Ruhr and a forested area in the lower right. Mapmaker is shown as Strosyk. Map measures 21" x 11-1/2" and has a 1/4" wraparound linen border. It has been folded in quarters and will be shipped folded. Condition is very good. There is some wear on the folds but no holes or damage. The map is slightly age-toned and lightly soiled. The wraparound linen edging has pulled loose in spots. Vintage linen backed roll up map of Australia and Phillipines 1957
This a old school map that is backed with linen. It measures 43.3" Inches wide or 110 cm wide. the finished wooden bottom spool with a metal round pull measures 47"inches wide or 120cm wide. The map measures 72"inches long or 183 cm.This map is in very good condition considering it age. No tears or rips. Just a bit of slight bit wear here and there on the far edges. Nothing that effects the integrity of the map. The map once was used in old school rooms. And has on the top roller a couple of metal pins, these once fit into a holder that let the user roll it up and down like old window shades did back in the day, probably could set these pins,in in a couple of secure metal clips and it will roll up and down again like a old time map\window shade. It includes the large portion at bottom of Australia and the Philippine's at ... morethe top. Including New Guinea and Indonesia as well in the middle. The map appears to be a colored topographical map. With colors used as describing the lands elevation and vegetation. The map is dated"1957"in the bottom right hand corner about 1.75" in from the left part and 2" inches from the bottom of the white edging, It is hard to see all the details as it is such a large map.I photographed sections at a time to get better detail. Picture to be added Wednesday It is free list and adding many new items Original WW1 linen map 1:20000 scale of Damler in Gallipoli. Produced 1915 at Sruvey Dept Egypt. Generally good condition. Some brown staining and minor wear along one fold. Note postage is a deliberately high estimate to allow for furthest overseas destination and high insurance value. I ALWAYS REFUND DIFFERENCE AFTER POSTING. Calculating an accurate postage requires the item to be packed which could take several days to pack everything.
