Desnos drew this map to illustrate the world in the'Fifth Age' In Judeo-Christian tradition, this period covers from the foundation of Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem to the termination of Jewish captivity in Babylon under Cyrus the Great. Cyrus, the King of Persia, was apparently inspired by God to end the Jewish exile and return the sacred vessels looted form the Temple of Solomon so that they could be used in consecrating the Second Temple of Jerusalem. This ... moremap curiously covers not just the pertinent areas, but whole world in three parts, Europe, Asia, and Africa, as it was then understood. Please be aware that these National Geographic Maps are anywhere from 30 to 80 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So the maps you are buying will be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. On occasion maps may smell musty from the way they have been stored in the past. When the map is kept in an open area the musty smell will fade away in time. But I'd guess it to be from the 1960s or so. I've included lots of pics so that you can get a really good look at it.
