You are bidding on a beautiful gemstone globe. this is a tabletop globe and is solid and heavy. the base has a built in compass and appears to be brass or similar material. it is in good condition and there is no damage to the surface. there is a small indentation that I took a photo of(second to last pic) and a pic of it head on. I only saw it in the glare. I think this is a manufacturer defect or I believe the surface would have been damaged if it was hit or dropped. the rings could use a polishing I am sure =) It measures 19" high approx. and the circumference is 41" I have seen other globes listed and not knowing for sure. LARGE VINTAGE SCHOOL ROLL DOWN MAP NEW WORLD EXPLORERS Large vintage roll down school map. This is a great map that portrays the many explorers of the new world circa 1400s to the 1600s. It has details about their native countries and their travel routes of discovery. The bottom half of the map covers all the European explorers and the top half is about only the spanish expeditions. The map is large at 43 1/2 inches wide by 75 inches long. It is the vintage canvas type map and rolls up like a window blind. The map has not been abused and is not torn. The book was written by Richard Walter. Chaplin aboard Ansons flagship, Centurion. In his famous voyage(1740–44) around the world. Anson, in spite of shipwrecks and scurvy, inflicted great damage on Spanish shipping and returned to England with a rich prize. He was raised to the peerage after his popular naval victory(1747) off Cape Finisterre. Appointed then as first lord of the admiralty, he assisted William Pitt, Lord Chatham, in reorganizing naval administration. This is an antique 1899 Pictorial Atlas of the Greater United States and the World. It measures 14 3/4" long by 12" wide and it is 1" thick. It has 344 pages with none missing. Page 191 is loose and page 305 has some stains but the rest are all in very good condition with a few small edge tears here and there. The book does not have any mildew odor. The cover has corner wear and the binding is loose but still intact. The book was compiled for the Philadelphia Inquirer and it is loaded with maps of the USA and the rest of the world. It is interesting to see what the names of some of the countries were in 1899. There is also a map of the US Indian Territories and a topographical map of the USA by George Cram. These maps combine Hondius' geographical outline with variant border decorations taken from Boisseau's map of 1636(Entry 340) Berey has omitted Boisseau's large textual banners but has retained his calendar(starting with 1637) the wind tables and the heavenly sphere. There are spelling errors in the title; Hydpographica' for'Hydrographica' and'Royne' for'Reyne' Shirley 354. Third state of this map with the date 1649. Vintage World Map Engraved on Wood written in Old English / Latin
This is map is drawn on wood in shape of a scroll. It has some beautiful old style artwork around the outer section of the map. I am not sure about the writing. English alphabet is used but the spelling is a little different than regular English, either it is old English, Latin, or Mexican. The wood used is hollow. Therefor it is not heavy, there is some fading of the paint on the edges and there is 2 dent on the map, one is on Africa continent and one is in the lower hemisphere, plus you can see some imperfection of the natural wood. The dimension of the scroll map is 23" by 15" by 3" I tried to show the map in the pictures as much as possible please email me for any questions.

1940 NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR ~ HOTEL ADVERTISING ~ SET OF TWO ~ MAP of MANHATTAN
Pair of hotel BROCHURE ADVERTISING from the 1940 NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR. One is a two color brochure for the HOTEL CHESTERFIELD and includes a FOLD-OUT MAP of MANHATTAN. The other is a black and white brochure for the HOTEL MARYLAND. Both hotels were located at RADIO CITY in TIMES SQUARE. The HOTEL CHESTERFIELD brochure is quite special with the ART DECO drawing of the hotel itself and the included MAP of MANHATTAN. It is very interesting to look at. Great items for the collector of 1940s advertising or World Fair ephemera. Isn't it amazing that a Times Square hotel room for two only cost $3 for two people in 1940? Not only that- it included valet parking! Rates are now 100 times more! The Hotel Chesterfield advertising is in excellent condition with very minor wear. The Hotel Maryland advertising is in very good condition- there is ... moreone small stain on the inside. The size of a pencil eraser, and the upper right corner is creased. Ever hear of the Hotel Chesterfield? Probably not; it was a massive. Unspectacular midcentury tourist and show folk favorite at 130 West 49th Street. Built in the 1920s. It outlived its heyday and was demolished after the early 1960s. A sparkling office tower occupies its old location which I believe houses the MacGraw Hill book publishing company. The Hotel Maryland has been subsumed by Rockefeller Center.

Vintage World War II Swiss Army Leather Map Case
This case is a WWII Swiss Army map case. In almost perfect condition. There is a circle stitched into the opening flap for decoration. Switzerland cross and Sz are stamped into the back of the case along with a circle containing the words"S. Celio, Sellaio, Locarno and the number 65.The back of the case has 3 loops for attaching to a belt. There is also a hook to attach to a belt or pack. It is made out of dense. Heavy leather, thicker than latago leather. There are some very small blemishes from use but it is in excellent condition. The leather has a red/brown color and the stitching is off white and very prominent. It is 8" long x 4" tall and 1" thick. It is 1/8" leather. It weighs about 1/2 lb.

WWII-era vintage c1939 Weber Costello 8" Terrestrial School Globe World Map
Description I believe this globe is from the early WWII era. Possibly around 1939. This is my best guess as not everything on the map is consistent with a specific era. Reasons I believe this is from circ 1939 are listed below: Irish Free State(become Ireland in 1937) Italian East Africa(established in 1936) Manchukuo(renamed by Japan when they seized control of Manchuria from1931-1945) Taiwan as a territory of Japan(occupation by Japan ended with their surrender to the USN in 1945) There is no Israel or Lebanon(established 1948 and 1943 respectively) Poland(not yet shown as part of Germany when it was invaded in 1939 until Allied victory in 1945) The school globe is covered with 12 individual paper gores and has a diameter of 8" and a total height of 11" The meridian is made of metal. The globe has definitely seen better days but ... morestill a good-looking globe. Some separation of the paper gores and cracks throughout. As well as the expected scuffing and paper wear consistent with its age and former use as a school teaching aid. The bottom has been taped but I'm not sure what the reason for taping it was(see picture) Note Actual color may differ from the photo due to lighting conditions.
