I have dated it to c1948. It is possible it was made for a light fitment to go inside as the hole at the base is certainly large enough to allow this and I think would look fabulous. I bought this from an estate where the gentleman had a wooden base made for it. The base in itself is great as well as it has been delicately carved into the pedestal to fit the globe. The pedestal base is floor standing and measures 24 inches tall. It is made by Rand McNally in Chicago. USA and is 16" in diameter. 1" on the globe = 500 miles.The hole in the bottom has a diameter of 5.5 inches. There are a couple of nibbles as you can see in the covering of the globe but the glass is whole with no chips cracks or repairs. Please note that we insure all of items. 1.We accept PayPal. I have dated it to c1948. It is possible it was made for a light fitment to go inside as the hole at the base is certainly large enough to allow this and I think would look fabulous. I bought this from an estate where the gentleman had a wooden base made for it. The base in itself is great as well as it has been delicately carved into the pedestal to fit the globe. The pedestal base is floor standing and measures 24 inches tall. It is made by Rand McNally in Chicago. USA and is 16" in diameter. 1" on the globe = 500 miles.The hole in the bottom has a diameter of 5.5 inches. Antique Replogle Light up Illuminated World Lighted Library Globe Table Stand
Replogle Glass Lighted Library Globe This Globe will no longer be used by us and is deserving of a good home in its present original condition which is super considering its age. It may look similar to others. But It is an earlier model than most out there. It may be a pre-WW II model. Original finish as pictured. There are a couple extremely tiny chips in the map itself, one up close photo shows its size is as small as a letter in the word Indonesia above it. It would touch up with a marker and would not have to be mentioned, but I want to point out the even the smallest imperfections. If this globe wasn't original and extra nice we wouldn't own it. The finish and teture is crazed as it should be and is still very tight and firm all over. There are some very minor nicks in the wooden stand; none are significant or hurt the piece ... morein value or charm. The crazing in both the wood varnish and the map adds beauty and character to the nature and richness of the globes age. The stand is also very strong and firm and not weak or ever broken or repaired. The original factory paper friction reducer washer on the bottom of the globe between the metal discs Where the light switch is attatched to the harp is still present. It is torn and rather than throw it out we have just kept it there. I plan to ship this in 2 boxes. Stand and globe seperate from each other. The paper is nearly useless and slips back and forth as the globe is picked up or moved so it may slip out slightly when shipped. I can tell you that we consider ourselves to be the very best at boxing up an item so you can be assured it will be very well cared for. Shipping is for the lower 48 states only. Vintage Replogle World Premiere 12" Globe With Stand

The golbe lights up for easy viewing at night and is a stand out in any collectors library with many features to catch the eye. Beautiful Replogle 10" Library globe, lighted with walnut desk stand
Here is the very fine Replogle 10" Library world globe. Lighted and in the wooden stand that you see. Dating from about 1950, it is in remarkably good condition with solid gores over glass, only the most minor dings to the surface, and just a few bits where the interior light comes through a seam. The dating is confirmed by the presence of Israel, West and East Pakistan, Indochina, Korea as a single country, and all of the colonial names of the African states. The globe features a complete heavy brass meridian, a time dial at the north pole, and the oceans shown in pea green. The walnut stand is also excellent. Very solid with four turned legs and stretchers. It measures about 13" in diameter, while with the globe in place, measures about 14" H. The globe weighs about 7 lbs. unpacked.
