Updated from the 1880 census, illustrating international countries, states and territories in the United States as they appeared at the time. well over 100 years ago. Looking over these maps I am amazed at how many differences there are today. Sellers Inventory no. M1881003142/43) Condition: The map has light discoloration. As expected for it's age and slight rippling near the center fold. The map may appear slightly curled in the photo, however it will lay flat. Please enlarge the photos to determine the condition of the map. Of Interest: A list of islands. Lakes, mountains, provinces, rivers and towns is provided on the back side of the map, plus 2 pages. This is an amazing detailed map and with some care it can be mounted and framed to enjoy a piece of history. This is the actual original item and not a copy. As it was always in a book the colors have been wonderfully preserved. These will look wonderful framed and hung on your wall and will be sure to give you pleasure for years to come. They are very attractive. Detailed and colorful maps that give us a glance into the past, and have been lots of fun pouring over them for hours by myself, and with friends, looking at the huge differences that have occurred in the last four to five generations. The occasional edge damage such as a tear. Foxing and even the rare stain or crease does appear on a few of these maps that I have for sale, however, any damage that affects the map itself( as opposed to the edge) will be listed above. Circa 1910 School Pulldown Wall Map-Europe-Weber Costello Champion Series
Here for sale is a vintage map published Weber Costello. It came with several similar maps from the"Unrivaled Series" of 1914 published by Johnston. So I think it was made circa 1910's even though I could not find a date. I obtained this map and 6 other maps from a collection of maps used in a one room school in Welch. Minnesota. The maps had a slight odor of age which has improved substantially since I took them out of their holder. The map measures about 38 by 46 inches. And has rollers on each end. The map has condition issues as shown in the photo. Including tearing and scraping, mostly along the bottom, and along the extreme edges. Map could use a cleaning. Rare c1850 LARGE EUROPE Wall Map,W&A.K. Johnston School Original
This is a very old Antique Map of Europe by W& AK Johnston of Edinburgh and London. This is a Roll-Up Map and has the original casing with Spring Roller(like a window shade) that allows it to retract. The case is in very rough condition but the roller does still work. The map is attached to the roller on about half of the rod so some repairing would be necessary if one chose to use the roller and case. The map measures approximately 5 feet by 5 feet. Overall the map is in amazing shape for it's age. It does have some water staining predominately at the lower portion where the legend and white areas are located. The map still retains much of it's great original color and of course is historically accurate for the time period for which it was made. This is a very detailed Rand McNally pocket map of"New Europe" showing all new boundries after WWI. Has a summary of the Peace Treaty. The booklet is about 4 1/2" x 7" When fully opened it measures 27" x 26" The cover also says explanation of United States Mandatories. The New Republics, The Territories in Dispute and other important points. Made by Rand-McNally circa 1920. The Treaty of Versailles was signed in June 1919. It's in very good condition- see pictures.
