This extremely large vintage British Admiralty nautical chart is titled"ATLANTIC AND INDIAN OCEANS WITH THE WESTERN PORTION OF PACIFIC OCEAN. Publication information: London. Published at the Admiralty, 1986. Small corrections to 1954. Dimensions: 60 X 28" 155cm X 71.5cm) Chart# 2483 This extremely detailed chart shows most of the world in the excellent engraving of the Wharton era. It is in very good condition. There are some light smudges throughout. A few very small light stains, and one or two navigational courses charted lightly on it in pencil. None of this interferes with the integrity of the image. The two folds show some wear, also the extreme edges of the paper. The reverse of the chart is quite dirty in one part, but this does not show through to the front. This map of Asia is copyrighted 1904. It shows the Empire of China along with British India as the major counties at the time. It is from a 1907 Rand McNally Enlarged Business Atlas. It measures close to 28 X 20 inches. Would look fantastic framed under glass. Shadows seen are my scanner. Not the map. According to worldcat.org. There are only two editions of this atlas in the major reference collections, making the maps from this atlas quite dear, fantastic to behold, and a great investment opportunity especially when buying at our low prices, usually less than wholesale. Small corrections 1963 Dimensions: 28 X 41(71cm X 103cm) Chart# 341 This chart gives an historical view of the area before development. Small villages are named and hills and rivers are depicted in detail. Place names on it are spelled with the old Wade-Giles transliteration. This chart is in superb condition. It is spotless and smooth. Please look at all 12 photos carefully. As most details and flaws are visible in them. WWII 1943 AAF Cloth Map China/Philippines
This is one of a number of cloth maps my father saved from his days in the service. He was a reconnaissance photographer with the USAAF. And was stationed in China, India, and Tinian from 1943 to war's end. He never told me about these maps, so I don't know precisely what they were used for or how he came to possess them. He tucked them all away in a box and, as far as I know they haven't seen the light of day in nearly seventy years. They have always been in a smoke-free home. Each cloth has two different maps, one printed on each side. This map is of Southeast China and the island of Luzon. It is in overall excellent condition- it is complete. It has no tears or fraying, and it retains virtually all of its original color. The map has been stored folded- as the photos indicate- but the fabric isn't damaged.
