Very nice looking original map of the solar system. Earth orbiting the sun, movement of the moon throughout the year, and much more. From the German atlas, Diercke Schul-Atlas, 1909, George Westermann Publisher, Braunschweig. Printed on medium-weight paper and measuring approximately 14 inches by 17 inches, general age-toning, corners slightly curled, othewise very nice. Auctore R.P. Ignatio Gastone Pardies. This atlas was printed in 1674. A second edition appeard in the 1690s and included additional comets and southers stars as determined by Halley. A third edition is mentioned around 1700. The maps were influenced by those of Bayer and the globes of Blaeu. An important feature of these maps is the inclusion of a number of important comets influenced by Lubieniecki. Artists and Engravers: Ignace-Gaston Pardies(1636-1673) was a Jesuit priest in Paris.
