Later they would offer just the Sky Zoo dome that could be placed over the Spitz Jr. The Sky Zoo does have wear in the form of some area of lighted or loss of the blue color(small spots) It is in working condition but does not have the pointer any longer. The pointer end and bulb are available. The booklet and pamphlet are in good condition with toning. No tearing or staining with the exception of the story booklet that has a light stain in the bottom left hand corner(1/4 to 1/2 inches) that does bleed through to the other pager to some extent. The box has tearing on the base portion and cover portion on one edge. The slides are intact with slide#1 having a small part missing on the edge. This transparent three color star globe is made of acrylic with all the printing on the inside surface. This unit consist of a rotatable. Vintage Farquhar Earth in Space Transparent Celestial Globe Navigational 16" Dia
I believe this is a Farquhar Earth in Space Transparent Celestial Globe although it's not marked. Robert Farquhar was the originator of the acrylic globe concept because the use of a clear material allowed a true representation of how we actually see the stars overhead. The outer celestial globe measures 16" in diameter and the inner Earth measures 6" in diameter. The Earth can be rotated by a knob at the bottom and the Sun is on a movable arm. This globe has a cradle base with a compass in the middle. This is an excellent educational teaching tool for astronomy or navigation and it is even an exquisite showpiece as decor for anyone into Mid Century Modern. It seems to be in excellent plus condition with crisp graphics and the lucite is nice and clean and rotates smoothly on the base. It use was diminished by the 1790's by the introduction of wove paper(which eliminated the ribbed lines for a smoother printing surface. A copperplate engraving is an intaglio process. I.e. it is the grooves, rather than the raised portions that are inked. The steps are: 1. A drawing is cut into a copper plate using a burin, a metal tool with a sharp point, to remove the metal and create the lines of the drawing. 2. This fine pair of globes have a classic. Clean, mid century modern design. They have a very elegant look and are really quite beautiful. Made in West Germany by Columbus, one of the world's best globe makers for over 100 years. They were established in 1909 in Berlin. Each bookend measures approx 6 1/2 inches tall, 5 3/8 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide. Teeny bit of edge wear on the wood bases. World globe has very. Very, light age related toning on the globe. Both have some light age related toning on the aluminum. I have not cleaned them in any way. The globes themselves are in very good condition with no lifting, etc. The wood bases do not match up exactly as you can see in one of the photos. Of course. Vintage 12" Replogle Celestial Globe- Constellations- Nice! This little globe is in great condition. There are a few hairline scratches and tiny dings- nothing overly apparent. I tried to take pics of these things but they are minor- please check pics closely for any flaws. The only other thing I notice is that the globe is made of two halves and the seam seems more perfect in one side than the other. But this may be how it was manufactured. I can't budge it. The Moon Globe by Replogle. 1963, made in Chicago. No stand or base, no scratches. Single dent at Philips/Humboldt craters. This globe was actually sent and used as a prop in the HBO television series, From the Earth to the Moon. Prop mistress* called and asked if I had things and artifacts to dress several sets. How about a globe of the Moon, circa 1963? The rest in Hollywood prop history. 6 1/2" tall/16cm. PLUS The Celetrial Globe, copyright Scan-Globe A/S 1970, made by Replogle. This one does have two dents and the two halves need to be pushed or locked together properly. It is missing the bottom plug or pin. Neither globe has a base. The Moon's two halves also could be realigned better, but I'm not going to open it and reset it. Earlier she had called and needed props for the film, Star Gate. Lots of fun and hard work.

A lovely movable celestial globe on stand with custom teak base complete with the last owner's notes. I will list some of the basic notes here but you can read them all in the last two photos. Celestial Globe. Persia. Ingot Bronze. c. 1650. Engraving; calligraphy. Purchased from) Persian Mercantile Co. Berkeley, CA. 8-25-78. $450.00. Buffing- $25.00. A Persian-made ingot bronze celestial globe. 300 or so years old. Possibly used as a teaching tool. The globe was made in 2 parts; the 2 hemispheres were hammered into shape just as a bowl would be made. Then joined and polished. Lathe marks can still be seen on the surface. Once polished, the constellations seem to be approximately located by calligraphy, although it is difficult to determine just what is calligraphy and what are squiggles or perhaps representations of winds. In addition, ... moreboth the N& S poles have calligraphy& engraving. The movable ring around the globe has both engraving and calligraphy. As well as graduations. of the 2 fixed rings, top and bottom of the stand, both have engraving, the top ring in addition has graduation and calligraphy identifying the 12 signs of the Zodiac. The legs also have engraving. The globe and the rings look their age. However the legs would appear to be later. The threads on each end of the legs are certainly modern, and accept a modern nut. And then more work to the legs is described as well as the purchase and work done on the teak base. The metal stand and globe measure approx. 11" tall. Affixed as it is to the teak base. It measures approx. 13.50" tall. The notes state the globe diameter to be 6.1" The globe, stand, and base weigh approx. 13 lbs. 6 oz. The globe can turn on its horizontal axis. I am not an expert on Persian antiques or celestial globes. Nor can I read the calligraphy. I am not qualified to date the piece. This is a nice antique 16" celestial globe by Denoyer-Geppert Co. of Chicago. Copyright 1956. I would assign my non-professional assessment of the condition as fair, but this is only a guess on my part. Overall, I think the globe looks very nice. Many of the paper gores show wrinkles and some lifting, which can be seen in the photos. The wooden ring is in fine shape, as is the iron stand. Shipping: The globe will be well packed for shipping. With the globe removed from it's stand, and each packed separately.
