Vintage Nautical Map Bahamas Caribbean - Lot Of 7!!! Re-purpose Potential!
First. I am not an expert on nautical maps. There are in"as found" condition. I acquired them because I thought they were really cool, and I've always loved maps. These nautical maps could be used for so many other things(wallpaper. Scrap booking, crafts, etc. They are large, vary in size, and are approximately 55 x 35" All were published by the"U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office" under the authority of the"Secretary of the Navy" Additionally, the are marked"shoreline and topography from aerial photography 1943-1962" 1 ~ West Indies Bahama Islands ~ Andros Island of Salvador. 26300, stamped with correction's made date of February 1974. There are some pencil markings some showing corresponding maps, other showing degrees and direction(N-S-E-W) I do not know what these markings stand for. There ... moreis some yellowing on one crease in particular. 2 ~ West Indies Bahamas ~ Andros Island to San Salvador. 26300, stamped with correction's made date of June 1975. There is some yellowing in the creases, and a few spots on the map. 3 ~ West Indies Bahama Islands ~ Great Exuma Island ~ Elizabeth Harbor and Approaches#26302. Stamped with corrections made date of March 1973. This map is in good condition- I don't see any pencil marking or yellowing. 4 ~ West indies Bahama Islands ~ Approaches to Douglas and Fleeming Channels ~#26306. Map has some yellowing. I do not see a revision date. 5 ~ West Indies Bahama Islands ~ Northwest and Northeast Providence Channels ~#26320. Marked revised 2/12/73. Map has been well used and contains pencil marks. Yellowing, and bends or rough edges on the outside of the map. 6 ~ West Indies Bahamas Islands ~ Northwest and Northeast Providence Channels ~#26320. Marked correction date 6-28-75. Vintage 1970s Royal Caribbean Map of the West Indies West Indies map by the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. This is nicely framed. Has a navy blue matt, and is under glass.it's from the 1970s.West Indies, Cuba, Miami etc. The glass made it hard to take a good photo, but this piece is really in nice condition. The map, despite being so old, is flat, clean and the colors are great. The frame is a medium brown wood with gold metal accent on the sides. Measurements. This piece is approx 26" x 22" Condition(see"condition definitions. Below) is"good" The frame needs a bit of a shine up. A little ripping on the brown paper on back of the frame. From the Mexican Coast to the Windward Islands, inclusive of the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, Florida, the Spanish Main, the Bahamas, and the Greater Antilles. The tentative British claims in Belize and on the Mosquito Coast, where English buccaneers, pirates, and privateers set up makeshift unofficial colonies from which to raid Spanish treasure fleets, are noted. As this region was highly important to British maritime commercial and military interests, Wilkinson also identifies various shoals and other undersea ... moredangers throughout. The Spanish Main was the point of departure for enormous wealth that was shipped back to Spain in the form of gold, silver, gems, spices, hardwoods, hides and other riches; because of this, the area was ripe territory for pirates and privateers.
