Printed on nice period paper as issued which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. Printed on back as issued with an explanation of the symbols used. In fair to average used[or better] condition: displays normal uniform age toning as typical. Trivial scattered small spotting, light foxing, and some noticeable wrinkling as would be expected for a large paper map intended to be handled for usage; overall the sheet& image remains clean and very attractive- please inspect zoomable visual scan closely- note the zoom feature which allows for very close inspection. note: we grade conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws. This old map was part of a 1914 atlas. It is in very good condition for being 100 years old. Most of the maps from this Atlas show a much older copyright date. This one shows 1905. Page measures 10.25 by 15 inches or 26 by 38.2 cm with actual map a little smaller. The map looks much better than my picture. It shows Streets. Cemeteries, parks and other points of interest in plain and easy to read text. The detail on the maps is amazing, with named home and land owners, named business and industry, named streets, named churches, named schools, named railroads, size and locations of buildings, and much more of the period, a fascianting historical document ... moreof Arlington and Massachusetts. There is a detailed handcolored Key chart on each map, corresponding to the map itself. The superb handcloring on the map is period to the map, these were made in such small editions handcoloring made more sense. Boston, MA Souvenir Map, circa 1960
Up for auction is an undated copy of a"Souvenir Map of Boston" This map dates to the time before phone area codes were used and the interstate highways had apparently not been built yet. It was probably issued in the 1950's or early 1960's. But this is only a guess. The published price is noted as $.65. It's in very good condition with some minor bends of the bi-fold cardboard jacket which is adhered to the paper map. The map is in color. Also included is a Holiday Inn map of the same area, the kind typically provided by hotels and rental car companies. This map has a stain in one corner(shown in the photo) and some handwriting along one margin, noting expenses of tolls at $.25 and a movie at $2.00, etc.

Greetings! For your consideration: An 1883 TILLY HAYNES NEW MAP OF BOSTON GEORGE H. WALKER DETAILED FRAMED w/ GLASS A wonderfully detailed. Salvaged map of Boston from the year 1883. Map measures approx. 16"x20" and 22.5"x18.5" including the frame. Drawn by Tilly Haynes and published by George H. Walker this map depicts a detailed, street by street, black& white layout of Boston in 1883. Each street is labeled and it truly is a time capsule of history. This map was salvaged from a severely damaged book and is quite damaged itself although a lot of time and effort was taken in restoring this map to a displayable quality. The frame is a quality wooden frame with gold paint spot finish and the map is protected by glass. The back cardboard securing the back of the map and frame shows heavy water staining however this was ... morefrom a previous picture and the frame and backing were reused to frame this delicate map. DESCRIPTION: The small booklet with red cover is Nutshell Seeing boston by Alice Louise McDuffee and it has the principal place in Boston and how to reach them by trolley. It was publised in Boston in 1906 and is still in good condition but missing the map in back. There is also a very good condition Souvenir Guide in Full color of Boston which looks to be from 1960's or 70's. By Plastichrome it has 24 pages of color photos of the city with a center street map with points of interest. The Boston and Vicinity Cape Cod map is in very good. Like new condition. It is from Esso and is a 1972 edition. The Seeing Boston Gray Line brochures ... moreis undated and in very good condition but has been folded. Might be from the 1950's. This lot has two comic sections from The Boston Sunday Globe which are still good to fair but do have some tears and rips on the edges. There is a section from an August 23, 1925 and a May 30, 1926 newspaper. Comics are Mutt& Jeff, The Captain and the Kids; and Cicero Sapp. There is a songs and poems page which has the words& music to a popular song, story behind the song, and poems. This publication from The Boston Herald is Harvard Tercentenary and is dated September 13, 1936. It is still good but back page has some rips and tears. With articles on history, events, and Harvard Hall of Fame of famous graduates. It has some color photo sections but mostly black& white and some nice black& white ads. There is a sheet from an August 7, 1898 The Boston Sunday Globe newspaper. It is brown from age and has some tears on edges. There are some articles and ads. In very good condition this booklet is The Bunker Hill Orations by Daniel Webster. It is a Maynard's Engllish Classic Series No.44 booklet which has an 1885 copyright date. I have up for auction a 1927 map of Boston Harbor. It is 35" tall but did not take a measurement of how wide it was a bit hard to hold and measure at the same time and did not want to damage it. It has some rips but nothing all that bad.
