Many of these maps were issued in Dutch and German as well as French. This map of the Senegal river comes from an early octavo 1748 French edition of"Histoire. The map is actually divided in two with the upper Senegal being shown below. Much of the detail of settlement along the river relates to the slave trade. So dominant in that period.
