Antique Vtg Replogle Lighted Glass Desk 16" Library World Globe Phyfe Style Base
Hello- This is a large Lighted Desk 16" Replogle Glass Library Globe. There are a few tiny paint chips. That are not noticeable when the Globe is off- and minor when the Globe is lit up. Each paint chip is about the size of a felt pen tip, and a couple smaller than that. The cap on the end of the actual cord is partially gone, but still ok to use. It is an impressive piece, standing approx. 25" tall x 19" at the widest. It is on a traditional Duncan Phyfe style base, which is what the Replogle Co. most commonly used during that time. The stand is in WONDERFUL shape, no major scratches or dent's in the wood, and can easily be touched up with a furniture refinishing pen, found at most local hardware stores. Possibly from the 1930s or 20s or even older but as I said I'm just not sure. Few minor dings with larger dents around the Gulf Of Mexico/Atlantic Ocean area which you can see in the last two photos. There are no sharp creases. Therefore these dents can be easily repaired if so desired. There is a scratch at the bottom near the south pole(see the picture where the globe is laying on its side) Even with the condition issue, this globe would display nicely. Korea is not split yet(1945) i have no idea what is going on with germany on this globe. And Iran and Saudia Arabia appear on it. It seem to be made of some kind of metal.if u look at the last picture of the bottom of the globe,you can see about 3 layers and what feel like metal.but i may be wrong.The colors look extraordinary as well as the"finish" it has on it. Hello. This item is a Antique Style World Map with a liquor bottle and shotglass set inside. The entire outside of this item is in style of the old world maps. Handles on the sides and a clasp on the front. It was not designed to lock. It's just a clasp for design. Box measures 9" by 5.5" x 5.5" The inside is lined with red material. It holds 4 shotglasses 2.5" tall and the scotch or gin bottle which is 5" tall and 3.5" wide. Silver tag says Gin on one side and Scotch on the other by Royal Craft. A few small markings. An early Pre WWI Antique World Globe by Rand McNally Dated 1901. This vintage Rand McNally world globe displays the borders prior to WWI. A great display of old globe making craftsmanship from the famed globe maker Rand McNally displaying the political borders of 1901. Unique to this particular publication is the addition of coastal shading used to add the perception of depth. Rand used this only briefly on this addition of globe. The globe stands no greater than 19 inches tall. While the sphere is approximately 12" in diameter. 12 printed gores hand applied to a pasteboard sphere mounted to a copper electro-plated cast iron base. The globe is completely original in as-found condition with no attempt at restoration. There are no cracks, significant dents or water damage. There are nicks. Rubs light abrasions and scratches all visible ... morein the photos. The base has a small portion broken off and missing. The globe stands normally without the aid of the stack of dimes, though certainly more securely with them. The varnish has aged quite nicely. Overall a nice antique globe in typical as-found, antique condition. The age of the globe can be determined from the geography present. The globe displays Persia. St Petersburg, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Norway and Sweden remain un-devided and Panama is not yet independant. Bounded by these political indicators and date indicated, the globe's approximate year of prouction is 1901. The globe will be shipped to your location expertly packaged. Entombed in bubble wrap. The sphere, hardware and base will be disassembled and wrapped individually within a single large box precluding any possibility of damage that occurs too often to these fragile artifacts when not given proper care. Hello. I'm selling a vintage 1910-1920 tin litho globe. I purchased this from a antique globe shop many years ago and it was tagged"J Chein Co 1910s" though I can't see a maker's mark amongst all the fine print in the litho. The litho has nice detail and colors, and so many of the countries don't exist anymore- Abyssinia, Anglo Eqypt Sudan, Persia, Sinkiang, and many many more. I great piece of history! It's in good overall condition and has a beautiful patina with light wear and a few small dings. It measures 4 inches in diameter and 5.5 inches tall. Blank Globe Wood Brass Antique Vintage Unmarked map Earth World Mars
Wood base blank globe with 2 brass rings. The base is 16" diameter and has three little bun feet at the bottom. It has evenly spaced metal pins that sit inside the larger metal ring. Weighs 7 pounds. Fasteners are countersunk flat-head screws. The rings appear to be brass. With an expected patina. A magnet does not stick and they have a heft. The larger ring is 11.5 oz and an inner diameter of 13" The smaller has an inner diameter of 12 1/4" The widths are 1/4" is The two rings are hinged to fold into semi-circles. They are numbered from zero at the hinge to 90 then back to 0 at the opposite hinge. The globe itself appears to be glossy plaster(gesso? over metal and is hollow- has a hole top an bottom; alone weighs 3.5 lbs. This was part of an astronomy library. And appears to have been the beginnings of a project as the ... moreglobe has a few penciled lines on it. Could be the start of a map of Mars, our planet, wherever. This is a 1903 Atlas School Supply Co. Chicago. I have provide photos for you to be the judge of this globe. I have also done some research to validate this globe. This globe is in Excellent Condition for its age. This globe is 111 years old. The height of this globe is 22 inches tall from the base to the tip of the bracket. By 12 inches wide from one end to the other. This very rare antique terrestrial world globe. By geographical time lines, was made in 1903. The 1904 map of Africa shows Ethiopia bordered to the south by a thin strip of Somali. On this globe Ethiopia is not shown at all but instead a much larger Somali. The French Congo existed from 1867 âe" 1905 and is on this globe. The under sea telegraph cables were completed in December 1902, which is shown on this globe. Tfore this globe can be dated as being made in 1903. ... moreNorway is also on this map but is colored the same as Sweden with no boundary lines. Although, Norway had entered into a union with Sweden, they had their own government and prime minister but were subject to the King of Sweden until 1905 when Norway became an independent country. This globe predates that. It has the seal of Atlas School Supply Co. Manufacturers of Globes Chicago. It shows Atlas kneeled on one knee, holding the world on his shoulders. On this globe, the cloth around his waist is green but on globes made just a couple of years later, this cloth is red. This antique globe has many interesting features. It not only shows the Equator, it also shows the Ecliptic Line. They, of course intersect at the Meridian of Greenwich and on the 180 degree line of longitude w a day begins and ends. This line is otherwise known as the International Dateline and zig zags in two places in order to keep these countries time on the same day. This globe has 10 degree intervals numbered at the lines of latitude and longitude unlike modern globes that have these lines instead in increments of 15 degrees. This auction is for an antique NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC world globe with it's clear plastic lucite cradle stand. I am not sure of the size as I do not know how to measure but am assuming it is a 12" after some research. On the globe it is written"NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC GLOBE. COPYRIGHT 1961, WASHINGTON 6 DC, SCALE 1:41,817,600 or 660 miles to the INCH" The plastic stand also has markings which read"NATIOINAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY, WORLD GLOBE" The globe is in good condition with some creases and some wear. It measures about 10 11/16" tall from bottom of foot to top of the support bar. The measurement from 1 foot to another is about 5 3/4" It is in very good shape with typical wear and oxidation from age and handling. As pictured. It is in great condition for age and only has a few spots of white almost like a bleach hit it in a couple spots and that could have been if it were in a school Science lab. It has only one other spot that was actually a small piece of tar. I picked it off and it left a dark spot. This could sell at a Antique World globe dealer I contacted but would rather sell on ebay.
