Published in 1883. The map measures approximately 19" x 28" Including the border area. Map is in color and is blank on the reverse side. This map is from the"Department Of The Interior. Census Office" It was published in 1883 and included 16 maps with accompanying Report On Forest Trees of North America, by Prof. C. S. Sargent. Maps this early and showing this much forestry detail are very scarce. The map has fantastic coloring to it. The various shades of green represent the areas containing the different tree species. The map is generally in Fair- condition. There is wear and browning. Particuarly on the left hand side. There are some creases and tears around the edges of the paper and there are some heavier rips along the bottom border of the map- some heavier staining along the border- the left hand side is heavily stained and the bottom edge is heavily stained and torn. There are some"water stains" along the right edge. There is one tear on the bottom left hand corner. Near the Legend, that does extend into the map. There are creases/folds in the corners, along the border, and there are other dings here and there, as well. This map is a great piece of US history! It will look very nice when framed. Please note that while I have included a picture of the front board of the Atlas this map was taken from. It is NOT included in the sale, as it is a reference piece to determine authenticity for the other maps. I would be happy to include a copy if requested. This is a large map. Here's a neat vintage 1891 Rand McNally& Co. New Family Atlas of the World. With a copyright date of 1890. It's not in perfect condition, but a lot better than many of the other ones I have seen from the same era. The stitching on most of the signatures is very loose. None are actually falling out completely that I could see, but some are close to it. Perhaps it could be repaired by a skilled book binder. I do not know. The Maps- includes an 1898 TOPOGRAPHY map of the Pawpaw Quadrangle. 1899 TOPOGRAPHY map of the Hancock Quadrangle, 1899 AREA GEOLOGY of the Hancock Quadrangle, 1898 AREA GEOLOGY of the Pawpaw Quadrangle, 1898 Structural Sections of the Pawpaw Quadrangle, and 1898 Structural Sections of the Hancock Quadrangle. Titled: South America, The West India Isles and Central America, Brazil, Venezuela, United States of Columbia and Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina, Laplata, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Patagonia. The maps probably are from a late 1800's atlas and show some use. I would say good to very good condition, some toning, small tears, edge wear, missing corner, but I believe all would frame up well. 3 U.S. state maps- Maine. Vermont and New Hampshire, and Massachusetts and Rhode Island- from the 1892 Encyclopedia Brittanica. Each map is the full 2-page spread, with a fold in the middle. The Maine map has some rough edges on the top and bottom, but those would be covered if framed. The New Hampshire and Vermont map is especially brilliant, with no defects that I can see. The Massachusetts and Rhode Island map has a little discoloration around the edges, but this again would be covered if framed. Nice pieces of history!

3 US state maps from the 1892 edition of the Encyclopedia Brittanica- New York. New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Each map is the full 2-page size, with the fold in the middle. The New York map is especially brilliant, with no defects noted. It has insets for King/Queens Counties and for Queens/Suffolk Counties. The New Jersey map is shiny, too, but has a discoloring on the top and bottom of the page- framing would get rid of that. It's especially interesting to me because I live in NJ- there's no Wildwood! The Pennsylvania map has one tiny corner missing; again, it would mean nothing if framed. As I remember, PA has 53 counties!

Item Description: This ebay listing is for the sale of a CD ROM publication Titled: Mercator Maps. Here are some sample images from this CD ROM: 98 images in Jpeg file format. These images from the famous Mercator Map book- Which was really the first world atlas. In fact. Mercator invented the term"atlas" to describe a collection of maps. His maps and globes where the first mass produced globes and maps the world generally saw. Ok- now the history- Mercator- whose full name was Gerardus Mercator or more properly the mouthful- Gerard de Kremer- was born a Flemish kid in the town of Rupelmonde. This is in 1512 so a bit back in history. He taught mathematics. Did brass plate engraving, wrote books including one on italic font engraving for maps. And make of course. Maps(fell into it by accident) Like most folks back then doing anything ... moreuseful or creative. He was in trouble with the powers that be, including the church and moved locations and jobs several times to stay ahead of potential or probable problems from offended church or other groups. Few of his mass produced globes exist today. But their design has become ever since the world standard on how to make and display globes. His son continued to make globes and maps even after his dad's death. Rumold Mercator) This further ensured the enduring name of his methods of map making and cartography and globe making. These images. Minus all the more or less empty pages and the Latin text and label pages. are the meat of his most famous map book. His world atlas. We took the time to clean up the images. Correct colors as close as we could determine to the very bright original colors the pages had when new. And cropped the images to the content portions(the maps themselves) so that you get only the map. And that nicely fixed up, bright colorful again. And as clean as is reasonably possible for an old manuscript. Great for having printed out for wall decor. Wonderful to use for historical work or research. 3 maps from the 1892 edition of the Encyclopedia Brittanica- Mexico. Brazil, and South America. They're each a double-page format, with the fold in the middle. The Mexico map is horizontal, shows all the states, and has an inset which I assume is to show Mexico City. There is a little browning around the edges, which would be covered if framed. The Brazil map is vertical, and a little rough around the edges, with a few tears(less than an inch) on the top and bottom edges; again, would be covered if framed. The South America map is vertical and very colorful; I see only a touch of browning on the one side.

The single page maps measure 16.25" wide x 10.75" high. Double paged maps measure 21.5" wide x 16.25" high. All maps have blank back pages. Approximately 104 pages of frameable maps in this book. Covering countries around the world and topics such as religions of Europe. Isothermal and wind charts of the world, the solar system and more, this book is fascinating to peruse. This 118 year old book is in acceptable condition ~ and shows very heavy wear. Two of the pages are missing and a few are unattached but useable. Pages have medium to heavy edge-wear and chipping throughout book. Binding is loose in this ... morebook. Light soiling around the margins on some pages. Tanning of pages throughout the book. The map of Italy states"the States of the Church(disolved in 1860) were included in the section inclosed by a red line" but I don't see a red line. The map of Sicily has an inset marked"Ancient Syracuse" I don't know what/where that was! And the map of Rome in the Third Century is fascinating! This came out of a friends family estate. Was sitting in the attick for many years. Map collectors like these for many reasons. Great close ups of towns and countys of the times. 115 pages. Measures 14" x 17 1/2" All the maps are in good shape with no stains. The fold out map of Maine has some breaks at the center fold. The binding as you can see from the pictures is toast. This seems to be common with the old Colby's) Maps are all there in good shape.

1888 Original Antique Color Maps of Louisiana + Mississippi, from Gaskell Atlas
This offering features an original antique one-page. Highly detailed, multi-color map of LOUISIANA with an equal-sized high-quality map of MISSISSIPPI on the back. The maps were rescued from Gaskell's Atlas of the World, published in 1888, and which was in unsalvageable condition. The last two photos validate the origin of the maps and the publishing date. The maps were specially engraved for inclusion in this Gaskell atlas and are contemporary with the publishing date. Both the Louisiana and Mississippi maps have excellent and varied coloring. An interesting design feature is the use of gray and black tones in the coloring of water in the Gulf of Mexico. Both maps have a page size of 11" wide x 13-1/2" long. And image sizes of approximately 9-3/4" x 12-1/4" The map condition is excellent, with no holes or tears in ... morethe images, no edge loss, and only minor yellowing of the paper with age. The edge of the map does have a few small tears in the margin and very light soiling from age. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire two antique state maps for the price of one. 2 Antique 1836 MAPS T.G. BRADFORD Atlas ~Northern Southern Hemisphere & Michigan
Offered for auction: Two framed T.G. Bradford maps from 1836. The first is the Southern and Northern Hemispheres(lots of names that don't exist today. Second is Michigan and the great lakes. There is fading. Spots and signs of age on each. I believe they are glued in the corners to the matting. Matting looks to be 1950's or so, so they were framed sometime in the mid century. The frames have been taped to the glass to hold them in/ keep them from falling out, as there are no nails present. Frames measure a bit shy of 12" x 14 3/4 inches. Maps by themselves measure approx. 8 3/4 x 11 1/8. CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS MUST PAY 8.75% SALES TAX. Payment is expected within 3 days of auction end. All sales are final.
