The decal on the side appears to be from sometime around the 1930s or earlier. I cannot find a similar one anywhere online. The snow inside is a light brown color and is pretty foggy. Glass Globe is marked DIETZ, Fitzall, New York, USA on one side and"H2" on the other side. In very good antique/vintage condition, the lantern has a brown patina. The wick turner works as does the lever that lifts up the globe. There is a top handle for carrying. Lantern is about 13.5" tall without the handle. Monarch: The Dietz Monarch was first introduced in 1900. And has been produced in at least seven distinct variations continuo u sly over the past 10 8 years. The first and oldest style Monarch had a flat top tank. Un-reinforced air tubes, and a 9/16" ... morefuel cap. A very rare variation of the flat fount version is the Monarch Dash Lamp. Which is similar to the Buckeye Dash Lamp. The Monarch was made with a side lift until about 1909 when Fred Dietz applied for a patent for a"Blizzard" style globe lift. Similar to that used on the C. T. Ham Clipper. Patent#1035549 was issued for the unique globe lift on August 13th, 1912, but was only used on the Monarch through 1915, coinciding with Fred Dietz' passing. Since then it has been made with a side lift as it had originally. It is presumed that in 1910 the flat tank was change d to a domed tank. Coinciding with the addition of horizontal reinforcement beads to the air tubes, Charles Erb patent#962135. Then, i n 191 2 the fuel cap size was changed from 9/16" to 3/4" When the"Blizzard Style" globe lift was abandoned in 1915. A vertical reinforcement bead was added to the air tubes. Up for grabs is this unique vintage wood Italian made Old World Globe. This piece stands 10 1/2" tall from bottom to top. And is 6 1/2" wide. Globe is says"Made In Italy" on the bottom. Pretty cool piece even if you can't read Italian. I can't be totally sure what the globe itself is made from. There are also illustrations of sea monsters and ships throughout the oceans and seas. Globe spins on its axis with ease. Very minor wear to be found on the base where there is a couple tiny bumps on one side of the base. You can probably see them if you zoom in on a couple of the pictures. It's not really that noticeable when looking at the piece in its normal position, and is in overall great shape! Antique Globe from the 1800's - Very Cool - Check it Out !
This globe is nice. As you can see there is some damage to it. I remember this globe from when I was a little girl. In the early 70's my father brought it home from an old home he was painting and it was in our living room the entire time I grew up. When I was married and moved to my own home with my own family I got the globe. Then six years ago my two year old son dropped it and damaged it. It really stinks that this happened, it survived all those years and it just took my son in his terrible two's to damage it. It could be restored by a professional for a minimal amount of money and it would be worth it. There aren't alot of these around anymore. I looked on ebay and the closest one that is comparable to this globe comes close to 1000.00. The globe is made by the New Terrestrial Globe- C.S. Hammond& Co. New York. Antique gold necklace 12k gold globe with rubies
Up for auction is a vintage Very beautiful solid gold globe necklace with rubies Globe turns all the way around on an axle. 16 rubies total on necklace with raised continents, rubies are of different sizes, the chain is stamped 12k, the globe itself is stamped with what looks like 416, which means 10k, or 916 which means 22k. The stamp is a little worn due to age so it's hard to tell if it's a 4 or a 9. The continents are all stamped with name of place such as Italy, South America, North America, Asia Etc. Weighs almost one ounce, measurements from top of axle to bottom is 1 1/4" in diameter, the globe itself is 1" in diameter, the chain measures 24" unclasped. WE HAVE TRIED EVERY WAY WE CAN TO BE ABLE TO WRAP THIS ITEM BUT WE CANNOT FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THE DIMENSIONS DOWN ENOUGH SO THERE IS NOT A BALLOON CHARGE INCURRED IN THE SHIPPING COST; THEREFORE, THIS TURN OF THE CENTURY OR EARLIER WEATHERVANE SHALL REMAIN A LOCAL PICK UP ONLY. Antique 1920's- 30s 12" Phillips World Terrestrial Globe
This is an old Phillips globe that I think is from the late 1920s or 30s. Measures 12" Has some condition issues as can be seen in the pics. Well.actually the pics make it look worse than it is; there seems to have been some sort of dark finish that has come off the top portion(mostly still intact in the Southern hemisphere) the glare from the flash makes it look like large areas of the surface are missing. But actually the graphics are only lost in a few patchy areas(mostly central Europe, the North Pole and a spot in the Mid East)
