12 " TERRESTRIAL Antique Table Globe by WEBER COSTELLO Co. 1920-30
I am offering this Antique Globe produced by Weber Costello Company. I believe this is from 1920-30's. The globe has a dent that measures 1-3/4" by 1" near the north pole and another smaller dent near the south pole, some flecks of print missing in a few places. It measures on the stand 20 inches tall and is a 12 inch globe. The clawfoot base that it rotates on is a cast copper finish. This can be restored and would make a nice display in an office or den. Dated 1907 German Antique World Globe by Dietrich Reimer. This is a very large Globe. Stands 25” Tall. About 13” Diameter. This model is in average condition for its age. There is scuffing and soiling. Some repaired cracks. No loss of map. The base is in age appropriate condition. Globe is dated 1907 Reimer. Dietrich 1845– 1960’s Berlin Dietrich Reimer started his company in 1845 and began to produce globes in 1852 by taking over the globe manufacture Adami in 1852. Adami(1802-1874) continued to work for Reimer as a mapmaker. Kiepert took over his position and continued improving and producing Adami models. H.A. Hoefer became co owner of the company for a brief period(1868-95) and after Reimers left due to age. E. Vohesen( 1853-1919) oversaw production. Up for the next auction. Is a RARE globe from my personal collection, an early 1930's(or 20's) Standard 12" Globe, clearly marked in RED INK-the location of world wide RADIO STATIONS. I have never seen another like it. Review photos carefully. This globe is a beautiful aquamarine blue ocean. Clearly labelled and features CHOSEN, PERSIA, SIAM for dating purposes. The globe has a cast iron arm. Metal base and is a hardboard globe. It does not have any significant damage, only patina(dust) and normal wear from time and use. And there is slight variation between the two halves. There are no makers marks. But is probably German made. Please see the pictures. I have up for sale a wonderful vintage original approx circa the late 1930s Art Deco style REPLOGLE 12" World Globe. This is Great Looking Globe. Nice art deco base. The globe itself is in excellent shape. Its super clean and has outstanding vivid coloration. Any wear is very very light. Being very fussy I notice one vertical seam separation,as seen in my last pic. The base has a few spots of wear and finish loss. I approximate the age/date of manufacture to be approx the late 1930s. It must be prior to 1940 as Estonia.Latvia, and Lithuania are not yet annexed by the Soviet Union and after 1935 as the former Persia is now Iran. This globe was definitely not in a class room. Its has little to no handling issues, its about as clean as its gets. Scarce Pair Antique National Marine Lamp Maritime Navy Anchor Red Globe Lanterns
Just out of a local house is this nice pair of Red globe maritime lanterns. Our lantern books show that they were called Globe Lanterns.Navy Lanterns, Signal Lanterns, or Anchor Lights. This pair was made by the National Marine Lamp Co. around 1900. The lamps are galvanized and measure about 15 5/8 inches tall to the top of the ring or about 14 inches to the top of the lantern with the ring folded down. It measures about 9 1/2 inches wide. They are both in good condition. One has a brass tag marked MF'RD by National Marine Lamp Co. New York. The globe has no cracks but has some paint on the surface and some light scratching. It is missing the catch for the bottom door and the font is missing. The other lantern is not marked with the makers plate. The globe has some paint on it and has some light scratching as well but no cracks. It does ... morehave its original font with the burner marked National Marine Lamp Co. Do not see a date but look like it pre-dates the Panama Canal so perhaps year 1900 or earlier. But I do see Country'Turkey' and that was later 1923. I took a few pictures to see the globe to help determine the age. It functions well as it should with no issues that I see. There is some rust on the globe as seen in the pictures. I think the handle and the candle holder are walnut or cherry wood. Writing is in English on the Globe. Fully functional. Orrery 12” long(with the handle) 11” tall, 8” wide. Handsome highly detailed surface with oceans finished in blue green with International Date Line, ecliptic and large analemma with note of explanation. Nautical distances shown with small ships, transatlantic routes shown with ocean liners, also Indian Ocean coastal routes. Shows Great Chinese Wall with some topography. It can be dated to circa 1936 as Persia has become Iran(1935) but Italian Somaliland is not yet part of Italian East Africa(1936) and Burma is still shown ... moreas part of India(until 1937) Shows the Saar region in Europe. Here is an authentic antique light fixture. It has unbelievable appeal. Unique style, and would complete a restoration project. Fixture measures 14" in length and roughly 9 1/2" in width. It has a clever design. In that one panel of the metal orb lifts up on a hinge, for easy bulb replacement. The surface is primitive looking now. But could be restored. I assume that the"metal" is steel. But maybe cast iron. It's hard for me to tell. I cannot find a maker's mark. Right now the fixture has a couple of chain links attached to top, that's it. Just out of a local house is this antique Maritime Ships lamp. It was made by Peter Gray around 1890 or perhaps earlier. The lantern is galvanized with old red paint. It has a Fresnel glass globe that is clear on the outside and cased with a layer or red glass on the inside. I have seen these listed in our lantern books listed as Great Lakes lights. Navy Lanterns, Stern, or Anchor lights. This light measures about 19 3/4 inches tall. 7 inches across the base, and about 7 1/2 inches at its widest. It is in good condition but has some oxidation, some damage where the bottom of the cage meets the base, and the lens has a chip. See photos. The font has an unusual burner marked Gray Boston. Original Bookcase Knob This knob was removed from a Globe Wernicke or Macey barrister bookcase base drawer. The knob pictured is the knob you will receive. Knob is just like it was removed and has not been cleaned. These knobs are very hard to find and I have not seen a decent reproduction or replacement offered. I know it's an original because I am the person who removed it. This is part of my formerly"not for sale" personal stash of parts. I have been working on antique furniture for 30 years and my father longer than that.
