This is a DIETZ LITTLE WIZZARD Red globe train lantern. The piece is certainly a gorgeous rustic piece for your collection of antiques and vintage pieces. As you can see from the pictures. There is plenty of undisturbed patina on the lantern. As far as the condition of the lantern. As far as I know it should be in working condition if you can get the lid off the base. but this thing has been exposed to the elements for quite some time. My personal recommendation is to use it as a Decorative piece in your home. The globe on the lantern is red but there are a few cracks if you get up close to it, but unless your looking real hard you really cant see them. the lantern is normal size.Aprox 12 or 13 in high and about 6 in wide. We were told that this was a Dietz lamp globe or shade yet we are somewhat skeptical. So maybe it is a globe but if so then we have no idea what lamp or lantern it came from(or how it would work since there is only one opening) If we are in error here(And I feel 60% that we are) please let us know so we can edit our listing to truly reflect what this is. ANTIQUE OPALESCENT SWIRL GLASS CONE/ BULLET SHAPE LIGHT GLOBE * MURANO-POWELL?
We found this beautiful light/ lamp globe in the basement with other antique glass globes. This one was very dusty and dirty as they were stored next to a coal burning furnace. After washing it we found it to be a fantastic white opalescent swirl glass globe in a very unusual cone/ bullet shape. I tried to find similar pieces. The ones I found were listed as either being made by Murano or Powell& Sons glass. But I am not sure. In any case it is well made piece. The only issues I see is tiny fleabites where the top" collar" is. That attaches to a metal holder, but this is on the very top rim of same. I also see a some glass roughness at the very point of the cone. This was in the making. Some of the pictures have some glare as this piece was hard to photograph. Porcelain still has some flecks of red paint at some point. Some very small chips to the porcelain on the base and to a lesser extent on the lid. Has the original embossed star globe. Vintage to antique clear glass oil lamp that belonged to my mother. I remember it as a teenager so know it is at least 40 plus years old. The base measures a hair over 10" tall and 4& 1/2" across the bottom. It is marked by raised glass"Made In Portugal. The globe is what always made me love this lamp. It is a thin and fragile rare ruffled globe and was always on this lamp as far back as I can remember. The ruffled globe is slightly uneven on the bottom but it was how it was made. The globe itself measures 8& 1/2" tall and 5" across with the bottom base 2& 1/2" across.I think the fixture is brass but quite old. It hasn't been cleaned in many years so shows the dust in the photos. Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Map Blueprint Cabinet 5 Sections x 5 Drawers - Rare!
This is a RARE find. I am simply not going to get to all the"projects" I have acquired and this deserves to be cherished and used! This is a set of 5 Globe Wernicke Map- Blueprint Oak Cabinets each with 5 drawers. Will NOT sell individually. These were acquired from a university and clearly were used in a Department of Agriculture(they have the USDA inventory stickers still attached)office prior to be used in the university setting. I date their age to be 1920s or perhaps the mid 30's. These were clearly utility pieces. I recovered paperwork from the USDA from 1930 thru the 1950's. These were made when furniture was meant to be used for many. Many years and was not meant to be a disposable item. They are solid wood with dovetailed joints. While they are structurally very sound and solid(one drawer front was broken& glue ... morerepaired) they need some serious TLC and updating of handles- I will leave that to the new owner. I was planning to more thoroughly clean, sand, stain in a darker tone for consistency& replace handles with vintage bin pulls: of course, the new owner may decide to do more or less depending on preference. They could be painted( or even used almost as is. Overall dimensions each cabinet 33" wide x 13 1/4" high x 25" deep. All 5 units are approximately 66" high. From about 1914, has to be one of the very first electric hearing aids ever. The operating principle is pretty simple. It employs a Carbon Button type"transmitter" Whose electrical resistance changes as sound hits the diaphragm. A battery applies a voltage across the transmitter and a sensitive headphone is wired in series with the transmitter and the battery. The change in resistance of the transmitter causes a varying current to be produced in the earphone. The gain of the device is limited only by the applied voltage. Which is controlled by the rheostat, the chrome device on the wires to the headphone. This hearing aid is complete with the transmitter/headphone in one ... morepiece. An extension holder and carrying case. The on spring switch is broken off but is in the box. I tested the entire hearing aid system with a power supply and it does not seem to work. However. This is a great piece of history. It's amazing what they did without tubes or transistors 100 years ago! Cosmetically. This looks unused, except for the broken switch spring I mentioned above. This is one of the oldest intact I have seen yet! Patent Date is August 15 1887- May 30 1889(Engraved on the front top of each drawer) At least 123 years old- Amazing shape for an item made of Tiger Oak Wood this long ago Item History This was bought from an estate in the Evergreen Historic District in Memphis.Tn a few years ago and the owner was the file/record keeper for the circus. One 1966 Ernie's Miniature Circus postcard was found in a drawer labeled Circus Review Portland,Tn. The patent date on each drawer is engraved 1887. The top of the cabinet says"The Globe Ideal Cabinet File" All the drawers have a paper built inside with usage instructions ... moreand the manufacturer labeled a spot for the new owner to sign the date first used.This one's first known owner listed the date first used as July 1st,1897, ten years after the manufacture/patent date. See all pictures. It has all original drawers and hardware. The only one I have seen close to this was in a museum. Item Condition As with anything of this age it has normal dents and dings but not major. One drawer has a thin crack on the inside bottom of drawer not visable from the outside and does not interfere with the operation of the drawer. It has had a darker stain put on at some point on the outside(see pictures) I did not alter or attempt to refinish. We decided to leave it the way it is and let the next owner decide. All interior drawer labels are intact and in good shape. Handle hardware is all original with a few slightly bent inward. Cunningham CX-350 Globe Vacuum Tube for Antique Radio Equipment - Tests GOOD
This listing is for nice Cunningham CX-350 Vacuum Tube that is definitely used but tests in the GOOD range on my Knight tube tester. It also passed tests for shorts and leakage. Type 50 tubes are triode power amplifier tubes with a four-pin base that were used in early radio and audio amplifier applications. Radio amateurs also used them as final amplifiers in early radio transmitters. They have become rare and highly collectible. This tube has clear glass. A tight engraved base, and will be shipped in the RCA tube box shown in one of the photos. The box is in fair condition, but the top is missing. I believe this old record cabinet was once a section of a larger one. Perhaps a 4 tier unit. This was found at a CT auction and only this section. I think it is very desirable because of its size! It may be built in or have a top added. The glass is original as is the finish. It measures 34" long x 14" deep x 16 1/2" high. The scissor hinge type door opener works fine. The original index card/ folder is included. I have old records that were bought at the same auction. But I don't think they match up with the index list. I will be selling them seperately. Up for auction is a beautiful antique hand blown Heavy Wavy Crystal Hall Lantern Bell Globe. The globe is circa 1794-1810 based upon research and adorned with a beautiful ornate brass finial with wonderful aged patina and aged rust. This is an authentic replacement crystal globe for restoration projects or replacement of an accidental breakage. You can no longer purchase something vintage such as this. They are scarce findings. This crystal or glass globe is Heavy and Large. Built like a tank of very thick crystal. We believe it to be crystal because if held by finial and struck like a goblet it emits a wonderful musical tune. It weighs a whopping 4 Lbs 2.2 Ounces with size to match. The approximate measurements are 7” 5/8 ths wide at the base. 11” inches tall(8 1/2” crystal dome with 2 1/2” of height by finial) and the bell shape dome measuring ... more8” wide by 4 1/2” Please note the globe bears small scratches and the usage lines which we presume are from the hanging bracket. But other than that for its age it is beautiful(wouldn’t you also have signs of wear after being around over 200 years? You are bidding on a Rare Antique Vintage Kretzer Brand 5" Tall Amethyst Clear Glass Lightning Rod Ball Globe. The Glass Ball itself is in Excellent Condition with no cracks or chips but like most of these balls. It has chipping around the outer rims, see pic's) The Rims do come with the Original Kretzer Brand Aluminum Caps. The Caps are very thin and bendable so there are some bends and little cuts but intact. I do not clean such items, I leave it up to the buyer to do what they prefer. The Ribbed Grape pattern features three rows of circles with ribbed panels above and below. The ball has 18 circles in the center row. The pattern was produced by different manufacturers, I believe this one is a National Lightening Protection Co ball as the Fenton balls measure smaller. The piece measures 5 1/2" high. 4 1/2" in diameter and weighs 9.8 oz. The piece has chips and fleabites around the fitter ends which is extremely common. The main ball portion is in excellent condition with no cracks or dings. This is a great antique ball in a rare color and will make a fantastic addition to any lightening rod ball collection.
