A bit rough. Someone removed the lock portion of the main latch. It is an unusual double latch design. The compartment lid inside has broken and been repaired. Corner wear, some surface rust and oxidation. Leather handles broke off and were replaced with some very heavy duty brass handles a long time ago. The brass handles appear to be quite old. One of the cast strap clamps is broken yet all there. There is some damage to the tin clad skin. Original lining is cracked and torn in places. It appears to be all original with the exception of the handles and has not been painted(painting these trunks takes away from their value significantly) I'm sure I'm missing something so please look at the photos carefully and ask questions! Item is available for preview with appointment. I personally would leave it an unrestored original yet it could be restored bringing its value up. This would make a great display piece in your store, business or home. It has a covered hat/ glove compartment in the lid. Hardwood slats. The piece had been in the family forever but they let her choose 1 piece to bring home.They called it a wedding chest and, since they had no girls to pass it down to, they let her have it. I have no idea how old it is, only that it is very, very old. If I had to guess, I'd say late 1700's, early 1800's. There are a lot of chips of the"japanned" edges. Some of the pictures make the chips look A LOT lighter than it actually looks in person. The flash must do that. I had an estimate of apx. $500 to repair the chips. To get to the mirror, you open the top 2 pieces that then rest on the side"arms" that fold out, then you lift up the next piece. It has 4 drawers. These can sell for a lot more at other auction houses. It stands apx. 35" high, 24" wide, 16 3/4" deep. Fully open it is 43 1/2 wide. One of the arm that holds the bobech base has casting imperfection looks like tiny hole( Please ask for pict. The chandelier comes with white standard candle sleeves/covers see pict Has perforated ornate bobeches.The oil/kerosine font is hanging on two chains and decorated with perforate design with masks. The ribbed-sides oil/kerosene tank freely moving in and out( but was drilled for electric cord) that could be welded back to oil use. Sometimes in a past the center light and the arms with candle cups were electrified( you'll need rewire it. all wiring are done on the outside of the the arm(they are not hollow inside) and will be easy to replace it) The Chandelier is hanging on 4 gorgeous with figures and the perforated balls in the middle. Chains. I have never seen such a quality of the chandelier chain! This one will hold a few tons of weight! The huge ceiling cup is present and looks to me as original to the item. I think you'll need globe shade only. This center lamps ring wasn't designed for the wide glass shade. This is very complicated item and I can not place many pict. so please email me with request of picture and details if I miss any. 42" H(+20" chain and ceiling cup) x 31"W you can hang it with 42" or use the entire length of 60" Will need some arms straighten( they are all mounted on the center ring. Condition: Used Location: Saint Petersburg, United States Antique 19th Century Rococo Revival John Henry Belter Sofa Setee Hand Carved Laminated Rosewood. Gorgeous piece, no rips or tears in the upholstery, just ... moresome slight fading. This unique period piece is very rare, and was handmade in the late 1800's. This sofa would be found in the parlor of the finest homes of the wealthy.
