Measuring 4 ½” tall by 2 ¼” wide by 2 ½” in diameter around ... morethe white marble base, this MOP Shell "Necassire" Sewing Etui Box is constructed of two Abalone Mother-of-Pearl shells with hand-tooled brass fittings. To open the box, you push down on the brass ball in the center, which unlatches the brass rods inside the top of each shell and lets the two shells fall open. Inside are some original sewing tools, including an awl, scissors, a thimble, and a needle case. You can see in our photographs the base has a missing screw on the bottom and a small chip to the side of the white marble, but all of the Mother of Pearl is in excellent condition. As always, we have listed this Victorian Sewing Etui Box without a reserve.
