Quite unique and rare. Antique Poison Ring dating to the 18th Century of 14K Gold and Enamel with a faceted opaque blue stone in the center. The top of the Ring opens on a hinge to reveal a secret compartment. This type of Ring was referred to as a"Poison Ring" It's original purpose may have contained a lover's message. The Ring was assayed to determine the carat at 14K with touches of black and white enamel remaining. On the sides of the band is a gorgeous flower and most likely steeped with symbolism of the time. The Blue Stone is possibly a Lapis but unknown. The Ring Size is 7 3/4. The hinged section of the top of the Ring measures 3/8" x 7/16" The Ring weighs approximately 1.1 pennyweights which is equal to 1.8 grams. 18th century ring byzantine green glass with hanging pearl. 925 silver & Bronze
This is without a doubt the most unusual ring I've ever laid eyes on. Another purchase at a European auction. One side of the ring has a 925 stamp. Quite hard to read. The other side appears to be made of bronze. There is a green glass stone on the bronze side and white glass with a pearl on the silver side. It is just so fascinating. It weighs 9.3 grams and is a size 5.25 although with the open setting it could be altered. While I'm not sure of it's actual age. It shows great patina and filigree work on either side of the ring.
