CIRCA 1700s HAND FORGED 13.5" DIVIDER COMPASS w/ HEART, BLACKSMITH GUNSMITH TOOL
PLEASE NOTE OUR FEEDBACK IS 100% POSITIVE. WE'RE EASY TO DEAL WITH. YOU MAY RETURN AN ITEM FOR ANY REASON YOU LIKE. WE'LL GLADLY REFUND ALL YOUR MONEY. WE ACCEPT ALL FORMS OF PAYMENT. THERE IS NO RESERVE IN THIS AUCTION. SHIPPING FOR THIS ITEM TO ALL ZIP CODES IN THE U.S.A. IS $ 8.95 WHICH INCLUDES DELIVERY CONFIRMATION. These dividers or compasses were used by Blacksmiths. Gunsmiths, Ship builders and many other craftsman of the period. The smithy that made this one. Some time in the 1700s, was a true artist. While there are no makers marks or signatures{other than two dots near the top and shown in one of the photos} it's the best one I've ever seen. It is entirely hand forged and really quite large at 13.5" long and weighing about 1 pound. The curved piece is a full 6.25" along the bend. Please note how the arms ... morestarting at the hinge go from square{4 sides} to octagonal{8 sides} then back to square. The last two inches become round before forming the points. The lovely thumb screw is in the form of a heart. Condition can only be described as incredible. Points have not been sharpened or shortened. No pitting at all. Good tight hinge with no wobble or play. Good tight fitting thumb screw. No damage. Etc. I've always been in awe of the early blacksmith work. This has been mine for over 30 years. It came out of a Richard Bourne whaling auction which included many whaling and ship builders tools from a New Bedford, MA home in the early 1980s. It most likely was made and used by a whale ship builder so common in New Bedford at the time. Questions? Contact us@ 508-965-9949.

Fire Insurance Mark Plaque Circa 1700s England
Fire Insurance Mark Plaque Circa 1700s England Well. I am quite sure that this genuine antique Fire Insurance Mark, or Fire Insurance Plaque as they are called in the U.K. is not something you would easily come across here in the United States. This is a facinating and desirible piece of history from 1700s England. I have reduced the price on this historic and somewhat rare item from $482.00 down to $292.00. That is about a 40% price drop from it's prior listing. This is a Fire Insurance Mark of the Hand in Hand Fire& Life Insurance Society. One of the first and oldest British fire insurance companies. The Hand in Hand Fire Insurance Company was founded in 1696 and had several different titles such as"Amicable Contributors for Insuring from Loss by Fire" and then the title was changed to"Amicable Contributionship" ... moreby it's founders at an establishment called Tom's Coffee House in St. Martin's Lane near Charing Cross. About 1706 the name of"Hand in Hand" seems to have been applied to the Office from its emblem"Two hands clasped. With a crown over them, a symbol of friendship and good faith. Hand in Hand was one of the very first fire insurance companies and one of the first companies started after the Great Fire of London(Sept. 1666) For 135 years Hand in Hand Fire& Life Insurance Society operated its own fire brigade and played an important part in shaping fire fighting and prevention until the company was aquired by the Commercial Union Group in 1905. A note about the policy number on the lower portion of the plaque(90514) and the base metal this plaque is made of. My understanding from research is that the very earliest plaques were made of lead and eventually they switched to copper. And at some point tinned sheet-iron and cast-iron. This plaque is made of lead. I have not found any examples of these Hand in Hand Fire Marks(Plaques) here in the U.S.A. In the United Kingdom they are apparently highly prized collectibles. I have provided the websites wher

Rare Original Antique European Bearing / Parade Sword - circa early 1700s
Rare Original European Bearing/ Parade Sword circa early 1700s. This is a beautifully crafted European bearing/ parade sword circa early 1700s. These swords were designed and crafted for nobles to wear and/or utilize in processions or important events. Fashioned in the general size of a hand and a half sword. This example has a tapering blade with three long narrow fullers on each side. And is faintly etched with foliage, scroll-work, and a motto on the lower half of each side of the blade. There are makers marks engraved and stamped at the ricasso but they are too faint for me to make out. The gilt brass hilt retains nearly all of its gilding. And is profusely decorated with engraved rococo ornamentation, deer, and punchwork on a matted background. The grip retains its original twisted copper wiring in excellent condition. The crossguard ... morehas some movement. But overall the hilt is very solid. All-in-all. This is a gorgeous sword and fantastic representation of fine metalworking in the 18th century. Measurements are as follows: Overall Length: 44 1/2" Blade Length: 34 3/4" Blade Width: 1 1/2" at ricasso Blade Thickness: 1/4" at ricasso Weight: 2lb 10.9oz Buy It Now pricing reflects the rarity and highly skilled crafting of this piece. VERY RARE HAND CARVED WOOD WOODEN LADLE CIRCA 1700s or 1800s NATIVE AMERICAN?
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS AT AN ANTIQUES SALE. THE PERSON WAS SELLING MANY ITEMS CIRCA 1600s thru 1800s. And MANY NATIVE AMERICAN ITEMS. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS LADEL IS MOST LIKELY CIRCA LATE 1700s, OR POSSIBLY EARLY 1800s, BUT I AM NOT CERTAIN. IT DOES SEEM VERY OLD AND SEEMS TO HAVE CHARACTERISTICS OF A PRE-1800s PIECE, BUT I AM NOT AN EXPERT, SO WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTOS. IS WHAT YOU GET. IT MAY BE NATIVE AMERICAN. BUT AGAIN, I AM NOT CERTAIN. ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. IT MEASURES ABOUT 8 INCHES LONG. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING! SINCE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS IS WORTH. MAKE ME A REASONABLE OFFER AND IT IS ALL YOURS! THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND PLEASE CHECK OUT MY EBAY STORE WITH OVER 400 COLLECTIBLE ITEMS.

Beautiful Circa 1600s-Late 1700s Porcelain Portrait Painting in Ornate Frame
This is a Beautiful Circa 1600s-Late 1700s Porcelain Portrait Painting in Ornate Frame. Looking at the woman's outfit I'm guessing European descent. Frame is probably bronze and is 7" tall and quite detailed. The surface of the porcelain does have a build up on it that will come off with the proper cleaning agents. I'm not sure what to use so I'm leaving this up to the new owner. There is a border around the porcelain that is possibly leather or some other material that shows signs of age. I have been tempted over the years to open up the back to see if there were any treasures hidden beneath the packing used but have somehow left it in its original state. This is an extremely rare painting that has been passed down through many generations and has somehow survived. Please see better images below. Shipping is $10.00 Priority ... moreinsured mail. MAGNIFICENT RARE Circa 1700s Georgian Era Antique French Silk Brocade
I am Lady*Venezia: The majority of my antique textiles are from the Renaissance. Georgian, and the Victorian era. Many are also from the early 1900s. Unless they have never been used, the likelihood of these pieces being in perfect condition is rare. Please view all photos, descriptions and ask any questions you may have prior to purchase. Unlocking the attic treasures of a former dollmaker. Where old lost and forgotten victorian and edwardian textiles, trims, silk velvets, garments, and precious rarities sleeps. Having never seen the light, until now. New listings begins this weekend, and as time permits. This is an absolutely beautiful and rare french silk brocade. Georgian era circa 18th(mid 1700s) These elegant silk textiles were so expensive back in the era only royalty and the rich could afford them. Throughout the years going forward ... morethese splendid textiles were saved. Pieced, and recreated into new projects. This silk brocade was no exception. Multiple pieced, immaculately joined by hand. Polychrome blush, ivory, and green on a french mocha beige ground. It is obvious one half has some fading(see photos) There is a stain near the edge(see photo) There are some silk embroidery rubs. The underside shows the very fine and bright silk threads. Very Unusual Chinese Antique Hand Carved Solid Hetan Jade Carving Circa 1700s
Rare antique Chinese hetan jade. Circa 1700s. The very unusual jade carving is of a hunter carrying a large fox on his back. The animal is very large and as tall as the man. The jade is the famous hetan(hetian) or mutton fat jade. It is very well carved and has natural old veins. I bought this jade in the 1970s when China first allowed tourists to enter the country. It came from one of the government owned Friendship Stores in Beijing(then Peking) I have a small jade collection all from China and all collected before 1980s. I only have old jades and didn't collect any new jade items. Measurement: 6.5 cm x 3 cm x 2 cm approx. Weight: 44 grams The battery is there for size comparison only. It has nothing to do with the item. Most of my collection is one of a kind. I bought the items because I liked it for myself. They were never intended ... moreto be resold. Each item has a story and when possible I hand carried in my luggage from all over the world to bring back to Australia. Some of the items have travelled a long way away and some of the items has been with me for 65 years. I am now retired and need to downsize. I will not be able to buy a similar item again and definitely not able to sell it at the same price. If you buy an item from me it most likely is the only one I have. Thanks for bidding. Circa 1700s Georgian Irish Silver Sugar Bowl - Fox & Swan Design w/ Lion Feet

Due to her death, is available on the market for the first time in over 40 years. The bowl is hallmarked but I have been unable to determine the maker. Lovely three-legged style features a swan on one side. Antique Maritime Pocket Compass circa late 1700s, wooden with decorative face
This compass dates back to the late 1700s. And for its age I'd say it looks pretty good. At one point this compass would have had a cap or top to close it and keep it safe, as well as a metal piece to hold it open. There is a metal wire that wraps around the glass above the compass, although there is a small break in the metal. The wood looks alright and there's no major cracking on the back, and the paper on the face is worn but there's still lots of crisp details in the embellishments of the compass face. Pictures show the condition of this piece well. This little compass measures just a hair over 3" tall x just a hair over 1 3/4" wide. The little compass within the frame measures 1" in diameter.

Antique Spanish Colonial Conquistador Brass Horse Stirrup, Circa 1700s, Numbered

Probably signifying the conquistadors area of service. Just a beautiful piece. It is 10" plus in length and about 5" in width. It is marked with a character and numbered with 55. There is another nice decoration on the front. Please regard the photos and thanks for your interest.
