The twisted rope embellishment at the outside perimeter of both sides of the band show a bit of flattening. Consequence of being worn, and the center panel shows some flattening as well, many of the three-dot bar accents being worn flat to the point where the three dots are no longer individually discernible, but rather look like one large oval. Each is a"one of a kind" handmade bow by Lukas who is also a world class horse archer and makes his bows with this kind of competition in mind. More like it can be seen by looking at his picassaweb link at his Salukibow.com site. This bow is made with a twin laminated bamboo core sandwiched in his own proprietary formulation of fiberglass. The grip is the ambidextrous"bulbous" type used in horse archery. The grip insert and back are made of Osage Orange. The static siyah inserts are Maple. I would rate its overall shape as fair; you can see from the photos it has visible wear caused by significant usage throughout the years but maintains all original design features. Probably seventeenth or eighteenth century, provenance is Southern Russia, the Crimean Region. The Crimean, now part of present-day Ukraine, was home of the Tartars(and before them ancient Greek settlements during the first millennium B.C. across the Black Sea from what was at the time this ring was produced, the Ottoman Empire, modern day Turkey. The ring bears a very elaborate pattern on the sides of the band wrapping almost all of the way around to the back of the band. It is a very intricate pattern in high relief, and shows only minimal wear. A similarly elaborate double beaded chain pattern embellishes the circumferential skirt of the bezel. It is quite substantial. And the design of the ring and the detailed metal work evidenced in the bezel and bands is very elaborate! There is however some very light wear to the sides and back of the band, and some of the pattern has been flattened just a bit by wear.
