Penmans Weathervane
This is a nice old quill weathervane that is in mostly untouched condition. These feathers were made for schools and writers. I was told that Samuel Clemens had one on top of his house but I can't guarantee this to be true. It is approximately 26" in over all height and 35 1/4" in over all width. Spire on top of ball is 8 3/4" from top of ball to top of point. Ball is 4" in diameter. From top of quill to bottom of ball is 8" and from bottom of quill to bottom of pipe is 4 1/2" Retains much of it's either original or second coat of gold leaf and has nice verdigris showing through in places. There are seam separations on the bottom of quill and nib but these were soldered( see pictures) so they wouldn't get worse before I bought it. I purchased it at a CT auction in the early mid 1990s, I had a wall ... moremount bracket made(wall mount is included) and has been hanging on my living room wall ever since. Please view the pictures carefully as I only take returns if I my description is not accurate. I will insure the vane for the full sale price. Weathervane is made of mostly copper but the vertical pipe may be brass. I painstakingly pack all vanes I ship very carefully, but was once almost been taken by a guy who is an insurance fraud con man. He claimed the vane that I sold him was broken when he it unpacked it. There was no way the break happened in shipment as he claimed or the box would have had to be bent in half. He told me he had to file an insurance claim. When I told him that I did not insure it( it was only a $ 250 weathervane) he wanted his money back. I met him in a parking lot, exchanged money for vane(broken vane) and we parted amicably. I later found out that he has done this same ruse many other times and usually makes the insurance claim, pockets the money, ships the item(damaged) back to the seller and puts a freeze on their paypal account until he gets his money back. He also buys antiques and replaces the good parts with bad parts and then returns them with the b

Antique Cherry Red Cased Lightning Rod Ball Weathervane
Up for auction is a cherry red over clear glass cased lightning rod ball. This ball is 4 1/2" and has typical collar chipping. This ball is unusual because it was made with 2 layers of glass.a red layer was cased over the clear layer. I have tried to show this in picture#4 in the lower left area of the collar you can make out the"casing" effect. This casing has created a very different bright red color when compared to the typical ruby red ball in picture#5. Note the ruby red ball is NOT for sale. There are no chips. This is a great piece of American folk art from an eastern US states craftsperson. I’m not certain about a date but probably from the 1950’s. This old metal cow is 15” long(not including tail) 11 ½” high at head. 10 1/4” high at rear end and is 2 ¼” wide at widest and 1 1/2” wide at head. She is all metal with a slightly curved tail. 2 ears and two uneven horns. There are no markings or signature. Is somewhat rusty though. This is a great addition to any collection. Antique 1800's Horse Weathervane Lightning Rod Tin Brass Ceramic Insulator
Original antique.I would guess Victorian era 1880? wind vane or weathervane. The great patina is testament to the originality. The horse is made of tin and has some obvious rust and has had repairs which to me adds charm to this piece. The horse measures 10" in length and 8" in height. The vane is made of brass as is the lightning rod. It stands 32" total height. The insulator is made of ceramic and is in great shape. Nice addition to any decor. Payment due within 3 days. This is a weathervane from Gateway Country Store. I worked there and this is from when the store closed in 2004. It was meant as a display for indoors but I have had it outside since 2004. It is metal with the cow logo which has oxidized somewhat. The colors are as shown. it is worn from the exposure but in a nice way. It is a classic.

This is a very nice"Real Weathervane" Not a novelty. They are hand made in the state Maryland. This is a Double Horse and is in Black in color. All but the upright post of this weathervane is Heavy gage aluminum, The post and roof mount are Heavy steel. This weathervane swings in a precise manner to stay accurate with the wind at all times because of the way the swivel is made not like most. The swivel mechanism is two piece solid brass with a stainless ball bearing incorporated interannaly at the top. There is a clear model of this in photo# 5 and 6. We are pleased to offer this unique vintage weathervane. This piece is approximately 20 years old. It was roof mounted and used by the previous owners. The weathervane survived an incredibly destructive tornado which devastated the town of Pierce City. Missouri on May 4, 2003. The owners salvaged the weathervane, painted it, and displayed in their new home. They are moving to assisted living and we purchased from their auction. The weathervane features a large metal rooster standing on the arrow. The rooster is a tin type metal with dimension and it is hollow inside. The rooster has a predominant teal color with some white, gold and red accents. It has a finish coat of polyurethane. This is a beautiful"salvaged" piece with great character. Up for auction today. I have a beautiful James Weathervane. I think some restoration has been done on this weathervane. You be the judge. The weathervane measures 25 3/4 inches tall. The arrow measures 40 5/8 inches across. The rooster measures 13 inches high by 12 inches across. Over 1/2 an inch thick. Top red dome measures 8 3/4 inches high by 3 inches round at the widest point. James measures 1 7/8 inches high by 8 3/8 inches long. And the base 11 1/2 inches tall, including the ball and washers. The very bottom of the base measures 5 inches at the widest point. The wood base makes it a nice piece to place in your office, family room, or display anywhere else in you home or work place. RARE Form Horse Rider Carousel Weathervane Interior Home Design Ideal Dimensions
Unusual elegant style measuring 29" tall and 26" long this is an ideal display size and a very unique form of horse and rider or possibly of a merry-go-round theme. Both tube ends are capped the rider has a cast zinc head and the only damage is the split to the front portion of the rod, no bullet holes bb dings limb damage or repairs make this a truly exceptional vane and was probably on a roof well off the road out of view thus the absence of bullet holes, probably from the 20s and pre depression era it has a custom made well built stand that will be included, item will be very well packaged insured and shipped for free, email any questions.

Large Antique Cow Weathervane & Lightening Rod. 66"x33" Beautiful!
I have for sale an antique cow weathervane and lightening rod. It is very old. I'm not sure of what metals it's made of: The lightning rod tip is copper. The rod itself may be brass. The crossarm. Arrow and the legs looks like wrought iron. The cow itself may be tin or steel. It is 66" tall. 33" wide. The rod has a diameter of 5/8" This is a very nice old weathervane and lightening rod.
