Up for auction is a pretty Victorian Print& Tint floral tile maker unknown. This tile has a large central printed design depicting roses in a circle they have been hand finished in red/ pink& yellow and the leaves in green. The print is in a brown colour and there are nice quarter circles. Highlighted in yellow, decorating the 4 corners with abstract patterns. The surface of the tile has a nice glossy finish. Antique Victorian Floral Buds Leaves & Berries Print & Tint Tile Autumn Colours
Up for auction is a very attractive Victorian floral print& tint tile maker unknown. This tile is printed with a very pretty design featuring a large spray of flowers. Leaves buds and stems which has been hand decorated in pleasant pastel& natural colours, on a cream coloured background. The central image is surrounded by a scrolled border coloured in light brown. The surface of the tile has a nice glossy finish. The tile measures 6 inches square. Please enlarge photos to see tile in more detail. If you would like to see a fullsize photo. I renovated the space in which this tin ceiling tile came out of for the creation of Chocolate Cafe' Museum at 300 State St, St Joe, Mi. The tile is painted white over the original tin. The tile is in good condition. Paint can be removed. The back of the tile shows the actual surface before any paint. Please see pics for condition verification. 15cm x 15cm Sherwin antique art nouveau tile. Stamped ORIENTAL on the reverse. The condition is not perfect. Please see the description. However, the obvious damage is restricted the the edges, the surface of the tile is a beautiful rich, glossy, smooth glaze. As with other Oriental tiles I have, the surface is covered in a dense, very fine network of crazing. Please excuse the camera glare. The postage is charged only at cost price. Unfortunately due to my distance from civilisation. This is approximately 12 pounds for 1 tile to Europe(economy mail) It's very slightly cheaper to the States. The official time for delivery is 12-25 working days although in my experience this can be much quicker. Faster options will of course be used on request. Beautiful Boote Antique Art Nouveau Tile
15cm x 15cm Boote antique art nouveau tile. Typical Boote reverse. Though there is a thin layer of plaster attached in some parts. Beautiful design and very nice glazes. The background is a gorgeous dark blue which gets lighter towards the centre. This seems to be a deliberate effect with this design. 2 nice rich colours in flower. But quite a pale green in the stem. I think that it may have been made by CLEVELAND c1905/7 though I stand to be corrected. A tile that has come from a washstand so the surface is good and glossy. Beautiful rare antique Merkel hand painted porcelain tile of a young boy in excellent condition in a lovely original gold frame with crown molding detail. Great detail and color. No chips. Crazing, cracks or losses of any kind. Label on back of tile reads KUMSTINSTITUT FUR PORZELLAN MALEREI MERKEL-HEINE WIESBADEN. There is an impressed mark 115 and hand written in pencil 1489. There is also a handwritten label which I am unable to read and have pictured. I believe it may be the artist. Labels at the edge attach the tile to the frame. These labels are for Foster Brothers, 4 Park Square, Boston. The gold cardboard backing is held in place with brass nails. It is secure but some of the nails are missing. Brooklyn Tile Company Relief Tile DRAGON 2 piece 12x6 Excellent Design Antique
This nicely designed tile is an exotically modeled dragon. It has been framed so that the entire surface projects thru the frame so the entire surface of both tiles can be seen. The mottled finish can be imaged to be fog or smoke or fire. The dragon sits on a disk and is different from preconceived notions of what a dragon should look like. There is a mysterious mood to this object and it displays well in indirect lighting. These tiles were framed many years ago when I never expected to remove the tiles from the frame. The tiles were glued to artboard which can be unpinned from the frame. The glue can be softened with hot water or paint thinner. The frame complements the tiles and need not be removed. It is easily seen that there are no major defects to the tiles. The surface is perfectly smooth. The few dots are under the glaze. ANTIQUE; RARE Framed Stoke-on-Trent Tile; Art Nouveau
Beautiful original. Antique Stoke-on-Trent ceramic tile. Tile measures 8" x 8" frame measures 9.5" x 9.5" Both frame and tile are in very good condition. There is no major damage to either, though in the photos you can see the slight damage to the frame and very subtle cracks in the lacquer on the tile, as well as where the original tape has crumbled or been peeled away. Also note the remains of a sticker on the back that states manufacture in Stoke-On-Trent, England as well as a series number, perhaps TR/1. This tile bears similarities to Minton Hollins and Wedgwood tiles, though I am not sure who the manufacturer is.

Maw & Co. Relief Tile Classic Woman Looking in Mirror Antique Victorian Framed
This nicely designed tile is a little gem. 4" x 8" It is an excellent example of good British relief sculpture. The frame just hugs the edges and the resulting object has nice depth.The classical woman, Greek or Roman, seems to be in a window or doorway. The frame is 1 1/2 inches deep. The gold trim adds to the illusion of depth. The tile can be removed from the frame by peeling some tape and pulling out some pins.

LUXFER PRISM TILE LOT THIS is a lot of 6 border tiles- removed from a commercial transom once upon a time. T OPAZ KALEIDOSCOPE prism TILE THIS TILE is known for its FANTASTIC OPTICAL ILLUSION and patterning each side has neat little rows of convex optical domes. Of sorts. think marbles cut in half. and they're thoughtfully staggered from the front to the back side so that loved. Collected and appreciated for their magical lightbending qualities THIS tile is unusual, unique and quite rare. what makes it rare? its seldom you see anything but colorless clear tiles in this pattern. manufacturers jumped into the game of producing prism tiles a little later than the other prism tile companies. Around 1918 the use of manganese was deemed expensive and extraneous therefore no longer included into the standard glass recipe. it was the manganese coupled with sun exposure that created the magical alchemy to purple. glass companies used it routinely for ... moreyears to assist with the ease of pouring molten glass into moulds. to my mind. The unfortunate net result is that you'll never see an amethyst tinged tile sold by manufacturers. while manufacturing colored tiles appeals to me. To you and probably to the clients of the day, it really was a silly notion that flew directly in the face of the goal. LIGHT AMPLIFICATION turn of the century. Pre electricity, shop keepers cherished natural daylight. coloring tiles well. You get the idea. not many colored prism tiles are floating around out there. it was an ineffective veer off the road. THIS is a TOPAZ colored prism tile. its a lovely warm caramel/ smokey topaz color accentuated by that alluring optical design that manufacturers is known for. near perfect condition. ANTIQUE architectural PRISM GLASS TILE chicago INDUSTRIAL stained KALEIDOSCOPE
OFFICIAL MANUFACTURERS GLASS COMPANY SEAL PRISM TILE this prism tile is one of my favorites. one side is the embossed SEAL from the manufacturers glass company of Chicago. Illinois. the other side are optical domes. Of sorts. think marbles cut in half. looking at the pictures, you can see the kaleidoscope like distortion they create. the tile measures a standard 4" x 4" with a 1/16" rim. installed, the rim would be placed in lead or zinc came. manufacturers glass company tiles are never found in anything other than clear which dates them to a time in glass history when manganese was no longer used as an ingredient. Circa 1920 color: crystal clear clarity: perfect condition: EXCELLENT.please take notice of the singular air bubble tha t got trapped in the mould. collectors often love factory"flaws" if you will. think ... moremis struck coins from the mint. as with anything of this age.
