The makers logo"BD" is also embossed on the base. There is a single crack that measures 2 3/4 inches long. Shown in detail on the bottom. Because of this, it will not make a good cooking pot. It does however make an awesome historical display piece. This has a black iron finish with no rust and has been seasoned to prevent oxidation.

This tour de force work exhibits iron craftsmanship of the highest order. An extraordinary work of art for yard display or inside as wall decoration. Features a squirrel holding nut at top with a pair of dolphins at bottom with many finely worked leaves, berries, tendrals, etc. forming this high victorian visual experience! Wrought Iron Gate Door Handle Hand Forged Pull Large 20lbs Vintage Mid Century
This is a huge and heavy black wrought iron hand-forged door or gate handle/pull. It's from a mid-century house here in Phoenix. It measures 22" long and almost 13" deep. 7" at widest point; weights 20.5 lbs. It could be much older than mid-century, I don't know. It has surface rust and a few small, round drops of what appears to be where runny cement splashed on it- a good cleaning with a wire brush and fresh paint and it would look amazing. There is one round metal plate attached to the bottom, it could be either brass or copper that has turned with age or another unknown metal that bolts on to the other side of the door/gate. ANTIQUE VINTAGE WROUGHT IRON GATE FIREPLACE SCREEN RARE ELEPHANTS PALM TREES 50"
We are pleased to offer this very unique and stunning antique to older vintage fireplace screen. This fantastic trifold screen is very large. It is made of wrought iron and embossed. In repousse, on both the top and the lower borders with a continuous row of large elephants. There are also palm trees and fronds between each elephant with the palm branches and leaves extending over the elephants. The elephants and foliage are very nicely detailed. They are finished in gold with a bronzed finish applied over the gold. The bronze color is rubbed off to reveal the gold and highlight the detailing on the elephants and foliage. The same technique is used to highlight the frame in random areas. Each panel of the screen is fashioned like an iron gate with ornate spear shaped finials that flare out on the corners. The feet and legs are simple with ... morethe extension of the squared wrought iron brought slightly lower for the screen to stand. The mesh backing is still intact. It has palm tree overlays which are welded to the frame. The trees have an enameled finish to the trunks. The palm leaves/fronds are cut pieces of metal which are arranged in an overlapping fashion which gives them some depth. The screen has two hinges(upper and lower) on the back in between each folding section. The screen opens and closes as it should. This is a stunning and older piece. There is one like it on an antiques website that lists the screen as being from the 1920s. However. I do not feel that the screen is quite that old. I am guessing the 1940s or early 1950s. The screen is in very good condition considering its age. There are two very small punctures to the wire mesh which are very hard to notice and do not distract from the screen at all. Overall, the screen is exceptionally nice. The screen measures 50 wide. It measures 33" in height to the top of the frame and 34.5" to the top of the finials. Antique hinged garden fence with single post attached. overall width is 35" The post has a total height of 45" two 7 1/2" long spikes that would be stuck into the ground or cement and a 37 1/2" tall post with Victorian Gothic styling. The gate is 24" wide and 33" tall from end to end of the center. The hinge between gate and post is 3" wide and allows the gate to swing both ways. There is a stabilizing bar that helped to keep the post upright but the end is broken off and many years ago. Someone put an ornate Eastlake doorknob on the top of the gate handle. One of the cast rosettes on the upright iron post is partially missing. There is a coat of rust over a pitted iron surface but gate and post are well-made, solid and still functional. It was originally to cover and protect a basement window. It measures 27 inches wide by 23 inches tall. Overall. It is good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. here are four separate old wrought iron architectural pieces. they are all the same except one has a leaf like decoration in the middle. each measure approximately 24 1/2'h x 8'w x 1 1/4'd and weigh just under 8 pounds. they are all very solid and just have surface oxidation from age. im not sure of their original indented usage however they would make for neat garden décor or to do with whatever is desired.
