Door Knobs These are antique door knobs. There are thirteen door knobs. Eleven of the door knobs are glass and two are made of brass. There are five sets. And two of the door knobs do not have the shaft. All of the door knobs are used. And in very good condition. The glass is not chipped or cracked. The metal may need cleaning. All of the door knobs appear to be a little different in some way. Two are missing the screws. The door knobs are a standard size. One of the shafts looks like it might be bent slightly. Overall. Old Vintage Glass Door Knobs This is a set of 2- or 4 doorknobs together. They're in good. Vintage condition. They are both on their"stems" One set has the door plates attatched. They are both glass. But in different patterns. The first is smooth round glass. With an inside pattern. One doorknob has silver colored hardware and a little locking lever, and the other has brass colored hardware. This is a pretty design and in good shape. The second set is in a 12 point star type of pattern. These don't have the door plates. Just the"stem" These have some paint on them- a little on the glass, but mostly on the hardware. These pieces are about 5" long. And each doorknob is about 2" in diameter. A nice set of porcelain door knobs and latch plate
Here is a nice old set of porcelain knobs with a latch plate that although broken shows them and displays them well. The knobs have a few small chips and some discoloring which is normal for the age and use that they have had. The knobs are usable in a home restoration with the shaft if thats how you choose or they look neat in a display of vintage architectural or mechanical items. I love the look of these old knobs and you really get the feeling that they just don't make things like this anymore when you see them and pick them up and feel the weight. I have spent endless hours locating a source for these knobs. There are about 12 different styles of knobs that were used on these cases throughout the years of production. The knobs I am offering are the most common ... morestyle that were used. They measure 5/8" diameter by 1/2" projection. I also have these in the 3/4" diameter by 5/8" projection size for those of you who need a bigger knob to grasp. I personally use the larger knob given my larger fingers but the smaller size is the correct one. They come with a mounting post that is machined threaded on one end for screwing into the knob and has wood screw threads on the other end for screwing into the wood for original quick instillation. They are exacting in production and look great next to those antique originals. I have 400 stack units in my inventory and library and these fit in perfectly with my original knobs on my Globe Wernicke and Macey units. You can remove the lacquered varnish finish and age the knob with darkening solution and it will match the aged originals almost perfectly. When this is done and installed next to aged originals they are virtually indistinguishable to the eye. Here is a set of vintage copper plated brass door knobs with screw together rods. The knobs measure approx. 2 3/8” wide. There is moderate wear to the plating. See photos. There is also a black spot on one, maybe paint. The rods have some rust. I did not try to clean these door knobs, I will leave that up to the new owner.
