I found this Large Cast Aluminum Horse at an estate sale. They didn't know where it came from other than it was their Parents. It looks like it was attached to a weathervane and broke off. I tried to find one like it online but I could not. It is 19 1/2 inches long by 8 1/2 inches high and weighs 1 5/8 pounds. The number stamped in the back looks like 100023. Antique Zinc Ram Lightning Rod Weathervane
Antique hollow bodied zinc ram lightning rod weathervane with cast iron arrow. Oxidized surface with remains of old crusty white paint. There are some very faint traces/flecks of gold leaf or paint that don't show in the photos. Has some bullet holes and a small crack above the second hoof. But the ram is still firmly fixed to the arrow. Seams are all tight except for just around the uppermost bullet hole. No repairs and the arrow is straight. This is the larger size of the lightning rod animals; the ram measures just over 14" long by 10 1/2" tall. The arrow is 32 7/8" long overall and the inner mounting hole is slightly over one inch in diameter. I do not have a"Buy it Now" price or end auctions early. Any questions. Please ask.

This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. There is a metal piece attached to the bottom and some brackets that lead me to believe that this was attached to something so it could spin. 1) Maybe it was a weathervane? 2) Maybe an eye catching attachment to a store sign or a Billboard? It is artfully cut from sheet copper and is at least 19th century, though the rooster is similar to 18th century ones. ANTIQUE ORNATE IRON ARROW Measures 22.75" long. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs to this fancy old arrow. An eBay search shows me it looks just like a Kretzer but I don't see the name where it usually is. See my last photo. Don't know if they were ever unmarked or if it could wear down that much? We are not weathervane people. There is no glass. See photo 8.Should there be something there to hold the glass? We suspect so.Probably an easy fix for those accustomed to working with weathervanes.

I am so pleased to offer this Rare 19th Century Folk Art Tin Articulated Native American in Original Surface This is a rare 19th century folk art tin articulated Native American in original painted surface. He is made in a most delightful folk art style crudely fashioned from a piece of tin and then secured together with rivets to allow it to be moved into multiple positions. He is holding an upraised tomahawk in one hand and the other is free of anything. With the rivets allowing the arms to move up or downward. It appears he is wearing some form of a Native American headdress. He is wearing a long coat, and appears to be wearing some type of shoes or boots. All the rivets work excellent, which allows the figure to be positioned in a number of ways. The Native American is painted in a vibrant red paint which appears to be original and is ... moreuntouched with wonderful oxidation and natural wear. The condition is excellent with no breaks to the tin, and the paint is in remarkable shape with as expected wear and minor rust. It measures 12 3/4" high x 6" wide. Antique Copper Horse Weathervane. Weather vane. This came off of a very old barn that is well over a hundred years old.Dont know age of weathervane,looks very old. It measures from the base plate 45' tall to top of horse. Copper pole that horse sits on is 30 1/2' long. Horse is 29 1/2' long 13 1/2' high 1' to 1 1/2' wide. The horse is loose from the pole and needs to be solderd and one of his ears are missing. The letters measure 18' across. Letters might be brass but do have same pateener as copper parts. Antique Firewagon Weathervane
Early American.sheet iron horse drawn fire pumper weather vane. When purchased we were told it was found in the attic of a home in Gilmanton NH and was produced 1880-1890. The vane was created by a very talented blacksmith working in an old fire barn or stable and displays fine attention to every detail. It is made of hand cut sheet iron with great care given to displaying a sense of speed with two firemen with old fire helmets clinging to the pumper as a plume of smoke escapes from the boiler. The high stepping horse is at full gallop. The measurements of the vane are as follows: from the beginning of the horse to the end of the wagon is 32"The tip of the arrow to the end of the arrow feathers measures 36" The height at the highest point of the vane is 14 1/4" Thickness is approx 1/16" gauge sheet iron. The back of the ... morevane is reinforced with hand cut bands forming a frame and 23 hand made rivets which add strength and durability to the entire vane. There are two heavy loops for placing the vane on a pole. The surface patina on the front of the vane shows traces of black paint and has darkened with age. There is some pitting with some surface rust. But incredibly the vane is intact with no missing pieces.The back also displays rust and pitting. The creator of this vane was truly an American folk artist. The vane would be a one of a kind addition to the serious collector of Americana or antique fire memorabilia. A great looking Antique Weathervane Arrow and Sun Colored Milk Glass Lightning Ball set up on a display base and mounted on a copper Lightning Rod. It is in wonderful condition with no cracs or breaks but will need to be touched up with black paint. It is an old fashioned horse drawn water tank with two firemen ready to do their job. It is dated"1975" and signed WHITEHALL. A great gift for the special fireman in your family. Large Antique Copper and Zinc Trotting Horse Weathervane - Unique & well aged
You are bidding on a rare antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. The heavy weight of the attached head gives the piece perfect balance with the bottom attachment shaft being off center well to the anterior end. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age but 100 years would not be out of line. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in southern PA recently I'm told by a man cleaning out a farm house for auction. The Auctioneer. Who I know well, could find no more specific information on origin. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I have left it in tact as found at the auction. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this ... morefine looking horse. The piece is 19" from bottom of attachment stub to top of ear, 33" long and weighs 8 1/2 lbs. Midsection girth is 15" What I find amazing is the detail in proper horse anatomy with muscles and veins showing and one photo makes clear this is a Stud. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. The creator was obviously atuned to horses and labored meticulously to create this work of art. I have seen others similar on e-bay in recent months, and while I may be prejudice, this piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions, anatomically correct and has a finish one would expect for age. A great piece for the barn or house roof or used inside mounted as a classic primitive. I've debated how to market this piece. Auction style or buy it now on E-Bay, live auction house, etc. I've settled on E-Bay auction style(starting at my customary low $9.99) which will give the most folks a chance to bid and take this good ole horse home. Originally attached to the roof of an old barn on our property. It was threaded onto a lightening rod(as if we get that kind of weather in California! Featuring a straight arrow with lovely curled embellishments. Decorative piercings, a round. Double mount bra cket and a n oblong frame for inserting a glass panel. Condition is worn with lots of patina from weather. And fine pitting from expos ure with surface rust(does not bite) no cr acks. Bends, or missing pieces(amazingly enough) only thing o f note is the very end of the arrow has a bit of a flatten ed spot and the frame would have had two tiny clamps. One on each ... moreend. To hold the glass in p lace. There is only one clamp as shown and no indication the other is missing. So guessing glass would have been inserted and a tiny bra cket added. Antique cast iron weathervane horse makers mark
Antique Weathervane Horse.I believe to be the early 1900's or maybe later 1800's? I am not a weathervane expert so I am trying to present the best information I can.The entire weathervane is made of cast iron, since a magnet sticks to all pieces. This weathervane has a great finish from decades of exposure to the elements. Rain, sleet, snow, lightning, and birds. It measures 34" from the top of the horses head to the bottom of the base. The horse is 8"wide by 7"high, and the arrow is 12" wide. There is a makers mark on the bottom of the base but after a month of research, I still don't know who it belongs to.
