Large Ornate Cast Iron Weathervane ca. 1900 Serpant Motif
Here's a beautiful vintage cast iron weathervane. Circa 1900. This vane was originally on a building in Chicago. It has architectural characteristics that are distinctly different than weathervanes used on rural buildings. One end has a serpent tail motif. And appears to have been repaired with a hot rivet many years ago. The opposite end may be missing a small piece but it is hard to tell. Measurements are 34" x 34" It does not spin anymore due to its rusted patina. The stem of the vane is pressed into a piece of black conduit for display purposes. This will be removed for shipping. You may chose to put it into a piece of conduit for display in your garden.

Vintage Robbins Lightning Rod WeatherVane Weather Vane Maryville.
This is a vintage Robbins Weather Vane and Lightning Rod made by Robbins in Maryville. MO. It came off the house I spent my youth in. I'm not sure when it was placed on the house, but I have vague memories of childhood discussions about the lightning rods so it's possible it could date to the late 60's. The hole in the weather vane dates to 1978 when I took one of my first successful and mischievous shots with a new.22 rifle. The weather vane is in good shape otherwise, aside from being weathered. Vintage Weathervane from Schmidts Bewery Norristown Pa
This auction is for a vintage weathervane from Schmidt's brewery in Norristown. Pa. I do not know the date of this however, it may be from the 1930's- 1940's era. I only have this one piece that you see pictured on the white cover and it comes from a family member's personal collection who had worked for Schmidt's Brewery in Norristown Pa. This measures 5ft in length(see picture) an weighs approx. 15lbs. I do not know what this is made out of. The tip of the arrow appears to be metal because a magnet can be drawn to it. The rest of the piece may be copper or some other material, I really don't know. This has great patina from many years of being outside atop the building. All original& untouched. The craftsmanship is second to none. It was hand made out of heavy guage hammered copper& retains an incredible& original blue/green verdigris patina. My guess on the age is early 1900's? Measures approx. 21.25" long x 6" tall. Not counting the solid copper rod, which is 3/8" thick& measures 11 3/8" long from the rusty metal washer. This piece has a charming design that includes a farmer in his hay filled wagon pulled by 3 draft horses that are being harassed ... moreby a dog with the farmers son walking behind carrying his hay sickle. The silhouette design was crafted out of heavy guage hammered copper sheet with a hand drill& jewelers saw. You can see the handwork upon close inspection. See photos. The design is very detailed& proportioned. It was expertly& securely attached to the flattened& tapered rod end by two copper rivets that were hand hammered. The only thing that is not copper is the rusty& pitted metal washer. Wonderful condition with some minor nicks& scratches. Some copper showing through in small areas, some slightly bent tips. No breaks& never cleaned. There are areas of dark oxidation mostly to the back side of design as seen in photos. The boys anckles show dark copper, I'm guessing where he was slightly bent& realigned. No stress cracks that I can find. The whole length of the pivot rod has a smooth worn finish with wear scratches from spinning& the end has been worn down smooth& rounded. Primitive Vintage Hammered Metal Weathervane Arrow Shabby Black Finish I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! You don't need a weathervane to take advantage of this primitive beauty- it would be just as happy. And look just as good hanging on your wall! What I have is a vintage weathervane arrow- it's made of a white metal that a magnet does not stick to, except the pole that comes down from the center- I do believe that it may be brass, as it certainly has the patina- see my photos and if you think so too. The arrow, on either end, has a hammered metal design, and the piece has ... morea very shabby, chippy black finish that is more worn that still on. It measures 31" long at the arrow, and 7 1/2" at the center- top to bottom of pole. The pole alone is 5" long and about 1/4" diameter. It weighs 1 lb, so it's light for its size. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition, in addition to the finish wear, it is dirty from living outdoors, and cobwebby from being in the barn for so long- it could use a good cleaning, I have not cleaned it in any way. This is a HUGE full bodied Vintage Flying duck weathervane. It is made of solid copper. It was acquired from a duck hunting club in southern Missouri. Here's a wonderful older vintage cast metal weathervane in the image of a pancing horse! It's made from a metal that a magnet does not stick to- spelter. I'm guessing, as it appears to be silver in color. The pieces has a hammered metal look on the arrow. You can see lots of peeks of the metal as the old black finish is shabby, chippy and worn- especially on the horse, where you can see more metal than paint. This is the top to a weathervane- it would have attached ... moreonto a pole at one point in time, with a directional underneath- I do not have those, so what you see is what you get. That being said, as it is, it could made for some very cool wall art if mounted on a wall- the possibilities are limited to your imagination. Measuring 33" long, it is 15 3/4" tall from the bottom of the(pole insert) to the top of the horse's ears. The hole at the base where it would mount is 7/8" measuring on the inside walls, with an interior(pole) hole of about 3/8. It weighs 3 3/4 lbs. and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. Aside from the wear to the finish, no issues at all. It's reallyreallyreally barn fresh dirty and cob-webby and needs a good cleaning- I have not cleaned in any way. Another fabulous farm find! These cast iron weather vane directional are in very good condition. They measure 21" and 21 1/2" The North South is a little shorter. The north direction has been weld near the center of the directional. The weld is very solid.

Antique Appaloosa Horse Weathervane Up for consideration is a tall. Over 26" old, all aluminum, weathervane, featuring an Appaloosa horse on a the arrow directional. The arrow tail is complete with one bullet hole through the lower half of the feather portion of the arrow. The metal is all pretty straight, but not perfectly straight. All of the vane has been recently painted, with the exception of the arrow. The base has a screw like bottom. The arrow is 21 1/4"long, the horse being 6 1/8" tall and 7 1/2" long, and the directionals are 13 3/8" long, with the letters being 2 9/16- 2 5/8" in height. It weighs about 1 lb. and 4 oz. Late 1800 to early 1900's weathervane by Jos Barnett& Co. Barnett was in business in Riverside. Iowa from 1896 until the depression The entire piece stands 27" tall. The ornate arrow is 19" long and made of cast iron with 2 stainless steel clips that hold the glass insert in place. The arrow has been gold gilded and has some wear and pitting along the front side and on the two outside corners of the square holding the etched glass also on the front side The ruby red. Deeply etched, glass piece is 5" long by 3" wide. The glass is in fantastic condition with no chips or scratching The ball no longer has the protective end caps and does have some chips in both rims. It is 5" across. No cracks or other chipping The copper center rod with the crown is 25" total length. The crown itself is 3" by 3" ... moreand also copper There is a 3" long brass sleeve with a set screw that slides over the copper rod to just under the arrow. Tighten the set screw and this holds the arrow in place. Weathervane of Sulky Driver and Running Horse c.1870
This is a wonderful antique copper and zinc weathervane that was probably designed from one of Cushing's renditions of a Sulky. Driver, and Horse in Courier and Ives as far back as c.1870. The horse is very similar to the then popular Japanese Racehorse, Blackhawk. This weathervane went to the Antiques Roadshow in June of 2010 in Billings, MT. It was authenticated by the Keno brothers and Michael as being at least as old as 1870, made up of copper and zinc, and is in excellent condition. The weathervane is mounted at one point on a 31" long copper tube under the horse(as pictured) With an opening underneath with which to mount directionals, etc. The height of the vane is 17.5 inches at it's highest point and approx. 10 inches at its widest point. The patina is more oxidized on one side, giving it the bluish color of that of oxidized ... morecopper. The other side is more a darkened brownish color. The very fine reins are still intact. There are dents on one side, where possibly the vane was used for target practice. This does not detract from this great piece. There are no identifying marks present or a signature. As was often the case for weathervanes. Help yourself to this fine example of Northeastern U.S. Folk Art! Please send any questions that you might have about this unique item.

Antique Weathervane- Zinc or Tin- Original Lightning Rod Arrow
This is a nice vintage weathervane made of zinc or tin. It may have had a glass piece at one time but I don't see anything that would have held the glass in place- there are no clips or screw holes where clips would have gone. Anyway. The weathervane is in nice shape with normal pitting and wear typical of the age of the piece. I did not try to clean it, I know the patina is important to most people. It measures about 21 inches long. I have another old weathervane arrow on now and will be happy to combine shipping. Thanks for looking.

LARGE ANTIQUE COPPER & ZINC MOLDED EAGLE WEATHERVANE 36 INCH WINGSPAN
This large antique copper and zinc molded weathervane stands approx. 26 inches tall and has a 36 inch wingspan. This rare lerge size weathervane is made of molded copper with zinc feet. The weathervane retains much of its original gilding. However, there is old yellow paint over most of the gilding. Some of the gilding on the wings has recently peeled off exposing the brown copper underneath, however, there are other areas where the gilding came off years ago and the copper has turned green. The eagle itself is in very good condition, however, there is a small dent in the ball. There are some cracks in copper rod that holds the eagle to the ball. Overall very good condition. As with all my items I am starting this auctin at $9.99 with NO RESERVE!

Antique Primitive Cut Sheet Metal Dog Weathervane Folk Art Original
Antique Primitive Dog Weathervane Estate find from an antique collector in Pennsylvania. This is a great original folk art weather vane. No roosters or horses here, this is a unique cut heavy sheet metal dog standing on a primitive arrow. It has been painted a light gray color. I would probably remove the paint but will leave that you to the buyer. There is a small bracket on the bottom edge of the arrow that supports the 2.5" post that fits in the pole. Good antique condition with old painted patina and some small spots of white paint( Can be mounted on a pole or hung on a wall or displayed on a small stand. I also have the pole with the directional pieces(N. S, E& W) I am listing it separately because the shipping will be higher with the poles and the fixed directional pieces.
